@colonelkilgore did you manage the platinum mate? I’m doing it all solo because I really enjoy the souls grind. Just defeated Dragon God with the Fists Of God lol that was trickier than I thought it was going to be due to his fire breathing
@Mikey856 congrats buddy, though sounds like you made it tougher than you needed to 😅. Yeah I’m a bit of a plat-whore tbh (‘bit’ being the operative word 🤣). I also plat’d the PS3 version, which is much more of a pain in the butt tbh… some rng shenanigans that From have thankfully gotten out of their system over the years.
Good luck with the rest of that plat bud and enjoy the rest of an epic ride.
@colonelkilgore thanks bro I’m enjoying every second of it!..oh wow yes I’d love the og demons platinum as I’d imagine with the ps3s limitations it’s a much tougher plat to get, nice work. Did you platinum Bloodborne too?
@Mikey856 cheers bud… yeah Bloodborne was the plat that started this whole trophy hunting gig for me (& still my favourite game of all time). I’ve got all the Fromsoft souls and souls-like plats… and a fair few of the non-From souls-likes too. As far as the most difficult, I’d have to go with Sekiro or Nioh 2… there were some points during both of those where I just thought it wasn’t gonna happen. I’m yet to play Lies of P but have heard that’s a particularly tough plat too… can’t ****ing wait! 😉
@Black_Swordsman When I did the Old Monk boss, I stayed online, and I had an invader come and then leave before I got there and so I ended up with the NPC also, which as I recall was a fairly easy fight. (Although not as easy as yours with your DBS +2 😄)
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@colonelkilgore Can't imagine platting Bloodborne. Although I am proud of myself for going back and finally beating it. It was gnawing at me for years having never seen it to the credits.
I could see myself platting Elden Ring if I'd played it on Playstation, or if I replayed it on PS4, but having to fight Malenia again... life's too short.
@Ralizah I never thought I’d get any platinum tbh… but I was enjoying Bloodborne so much I just didn’t want it to end. So I just kept exploring and looking for things to do… then a couple of guys in work who are on my friends list came up to me on lunch and were like “you going for the plat on Bloodborne or sumfink?”. I wasn’t… but I checked the trophies that night and realised it was definitely on, so ended up popping my first ever plat around a week later.
I enjoy platinums that reward a reasonably complete playthrough of a game. It feels like a nice cap to the experience. Which is one reason I have the platinum for Persona 5 Royal, but not Persona 5: the latter requires an optimized, perfect playthrough, whereas the other rewards you for exploring what the game has to offer.
Not even gonna bother with games that require interaction with an online mode that requires a subscription to access, though. Or ones that require multiple playthroughs in general (although I liked HZD enough that I barreled through a NG+ playthrough on the hardest difficulty for that plat.
@Ralizah that’s interesting about the difference between Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. I’ve got a real want to connect with a turn-based jrpg… I’ve tried a few (including Persona 5 as it was so gushed over) but I just have never been able to get it. I’m hoping that when I finally manage to find a portal that I’ll be able to find whatever it is that I’m missing (as any streaming latency issues inherent with the portal would be immaterial with turn-based stuff I’d imagine).
@colonelkilgore sorry for late reply. Wow that’s impressive mate I’m hoping to do something similar on my account. I absolutely loved Nioh 1 but never played 2. Bloodborne is a masterpiece mate I adore the lore lol I also platted it on an old account years ago. So much depth it’s insane
@Mikey856 no worries… Nioh 2 is for me a step up from the original, so you’re in for a real treat mate. Tough as old boots though… I usually like to plat 2 souls-likes per year but I found Nioh 2 so intense (and huge) that I had to split it between being both my second souls-like of 2023 and my first of 2024. I just had to take a break about halfway through 😅
@colonelkilgore it’s certainly on my list! The one that was causing me concern was sekiro. I’ve heard that is probably the most difficult of all the games ?
@Mikey856 some of the Sekiro bosses are really tough tbh… particularly some of the side bosses needed for the plat. The mobs are probably the easiest of all souls-likes though as you can pretty much stealth your way through them.
It took me a while to fully click with Sekiro as it’s just so different from the other souls-likes available (if it can even be classed as a souls-like)… but when it eventually clicked it’s in my all-time top 5 games.
