I'm not a Manchester City fan, but I honestly think that Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best players in the league.
Kevin De Bruyne IS the best player in the Premier League in my humble opinion. He's been outstanding so far this season.
As far as Rooney is concerned, he was pretty poor this past weekend. I don't recall him being so off with so many crosses/free kicks. It may be a little too soon to think about a position change, but on the other hand, it may not be too soon. Things definitely aren't working right now or the past week at least. I'm still trying to figure out what role Mourinho has Pogba in. That hasn't been clear to me since Pogba debuted.
I've seen some speculation that Rooney's contract stipulates he starts when fit. I mean that's real conspiracy theory stuff right there, but it is strange how he seems practically undroppable.
That said, I think he gets made a scapegoat every time United lose. People like to make out like the solution to all of United's problems is to drop Rooney, but clearly there's a lot more going on than that.
Personally, I think this is a club with a confidence issue. They seem to completely capitulate when they lose a match — probably because there's a circus that surrounds them everytime they hit a bad patch of form. They need to accept that sometimes they'll lose, and it's not the end of the world.
Bring Carrick back into the side I know he is a short term solution but he has got a good pass on him. I like a good conspiracy but think its more that he is the captain and its a big statement to drop him. The stats say he should not be playing and they do not lie. No money for new signging for United either in January so will have to stick with what he has got. Unless he can sell more players. Every side will lose that is true but its the manner in which you lose a game. Play well and lose thats fine.
Should Big Sam be saccked? Seems he did a stupid thing and knew what he was saying. I could understand if the England job payed badly but its one of the highest paid in national football. £3 million a year so he does not need the cash. Also when will people learn. Its the same setup all the time some forgein business man is asking for something a bid dodgy. They keep falling for it. Well if he gets sacked I would like to see Steve Bruce take the job.
@dryrain: It's hilarious what he's done. What a spoon. Judging by the video, it looks as if he'd drunk a pint of wine, but this is literally the last thing that the England team needs. Not only are they playing off the back of an awful Euros, but now they've got Big Sam's shenanigans for the media to feed off of - Adam Lallana may be the only player to score under Allardyce's legendary England reign.
As for who comes next, I have no idea. Harry Redknapp would be good but I doubt he'll be managing anytime soon, and I don't think Steve Bruce would solve anything.
The whole Sam Allardyce situation is embarrassing, frustrating and it almost feels like a betrayal! I wasn't the only one who was excited(ish) about Allardyce being appointed, and then he left - and in the way he did, it's annoying. He's a bit of a spoon, honestly, but it was a newspaper sting which led to it, which is the frustrating part. Gary Owers for the job (congratulations to you if you get the reference)!
We all know the world needs Kentucky Fried Duck.

Meanwhile in the Championship, Aston Villa are really struggling and honestly look more likely to get relegated than to even achieve playoffs :/ I knew they would struggle but this season so far has been brutal to watch
@dryrain: @Anchorsam_9: @Speedy67: Big Sam deserved to go, the money grabbing is disgusting. Let alone the lack of understanding of why third party ownership (ahem slave trading) is illegal. Harry Redknapp was in court over bungs so that's a no go area too.
The FA should sign up Eddie Howe after due diligence on him. If its all Kosher give him a 3 tournament contract.
Its funny the day after this has happened a royal servant or something is facing a stint in prison for taking bribes. Why isnt Sam Allardyce or anyone else for that matter in Football being pulled up by the police?

@BAMozzy as you an see I have a soft spot for the Hammers lol
Yeah good result for Spurs Potch played Barcelona when he was coach at Espanyol and he beat them on that occasion as well. There was a good article about how to beat Man City in the newspaper it was basically to close them down fast and not give the defence anytime on the ball to build up play. Being as nearly everything starts with the keeper and defence at City this is a good tactic. Playing Man City will be a bit like playing Leicester. You need to play a certain way to counter the style of football. Other teams you can play your normal style and still win but with City and Leicester you need to adapt.
@dryrain: Literally the same way Liverpool beat them last season too...
Personally I never want to see managers (or anyone) lose their job. I think its become ridiculous in football now and the Managers are often the scapegoats - mainly due to the way the transfer system works. The ones responsible for under-performing and not doing their job are safe but you can't sack them as they are not replaceable apart from at a select few months of the year. Yes there are often players in reserve but generally the team selection and formation doesn't change - even when new managers come in. Sometimes other factors, like injuries, can determine a managers fate too. I know that some results can be attributed to the manager, the lack of tactical approach or adaptation and team selection - playing people out of position or lack of balance - Roy Hodgson is a classic example of these.
I can't see many managers making it to 10yrs at a club any more let alone the length of time Wenger or Ferguson managed for.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
