@RogerRoger Cineworld is a bit gross here too to be honest. It’s the tallest cinema in the world though, with a horrible glass elevator which makes me feel violently ill! I much prefer the Glasgow Film Theatre.

@RogerRoger @nessisonett

I have only been to two Cineworld's to be fair, one was not great but the one in South Ruislip is pretty modern and it's nice going there.

@LN78 I've been past once or twice but not in, it's a bit out of my way these days. Looked at some pictures inside though, looks very nice.

@RogerRoger to be honest, outside of something like Prince Charles Cinema, I prefer going out of town a little to one on a retail park. Reason being, I can ignore uncleanliness and crazy smells, but my major gripe during films is people talking or on phones, and more generally it seems (to me) if people are going to make the effort to drive somewhere to watch a film there is a better chance they are going to shut up and watch it.

I went through a period where I was going to an inner city Vue cinema regularly, and the last 5-6 times I went I had some kind of issue. I mean, a couple of times I was literally walking 6 rows and getting in a group of peoples faces to tell them to shut up. Another time I was helping chase a kid around with the security guards who'd run in without paying for a ticket and started climbing all over the seats. Now I am not massively confrontational but when I am spending £40 on tickets and snacks I expect not to be interrupted :')

@kyleforrester87 There’s a lot of truth to that actually. Thinking about it, I’ve had way less problems in cinemas out of the way in retail parks and the like. Just a shame that they’re usually a nightmare to get to on public transport!

Metal Skin Panic: Madox 01 - Short OVA film (it's like only 41 minutes) that sees a young civilian mechanic getting stuck in a prototype US Army mecha, trying to flee from the authorities (including a hot shot tank operator who wants to destroy the mecha instead of repatriating it) in an effort to meet up with his girlfriend before she sets out to leave the country.

Definitely one for fans of retro & mecha anime. If you can put up with the SD resolution, the attention to detail paid to all the military tech is a sight to behold, and it's a pretty quickly paced romp.

Spies Like Us - Chevy Chase & Dan Akroyd play a pair of bumbling government employees who get a surprise when they're quickly promoted to master spies & sent out on a top secret mission (unaware that they're just decoys meant to keep attention off the real spies).

Never seen it before, and while it doesn't live up to the likes of Vacation or Ghostbusters, it was worth a few chuckles (kind of felt like a more gag reliant take on Stripes).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Just want to see Michael Bay direct Fast X so they can rename it to Fast & Furious Xplosions. lol

Watched Old and was simultaneously disappointed and intrigued. I really do like M. Night Shyamalan (even if he hasn’t done anything really mind-blowing for a while), and so I was excited at the prospect of this film. It has an interesting premise, and the “twist” wasn’t… horrible? The whole thing was just a missed opportunity, as I saw it. Glad I watched it, I guess.

And I had to laugh at this:

Why schedule my time around when a staff member is gonna flip a switch on a creaky old projector, so that me and a bunch of strangers sitting together in a dirty darkened room, the floors covered in upturned nacho cheese and the seats in discarded popcorn, can begin to collectively hold our bladders for three hours?

😂 Well… I guess you have a point there, Rog.

Goldeneye (crazy this came out only a few years after the dissolution of USSR)
Skyfall (Not sure how this is 10 years old but hey.)

Are the post Skyfall Bonds worth a watch?

@LN78 QOS was awful, is Spectre worse though? It’s annoying you can’t watch the last without having seen It as I heard No Time to Die is pretty good.

@kyleforrester87 The problem with Spectre is more that the Mission Impossible movie that came out the same time is essentially the same movie but better. It’s watchable at the very least.

@kyleforrester87 He is Spectre! Sorry for the spoilers folks!

@JudgeDredd The Cave sounds very familiar to The Descent, which is one my faves from the era.

Watched Logan this morning. Been slowly watching the X-Men films in order, and while this one wasn't next on the list it isn't available on any of the paid streaming services I have & I noticed it popped up on one of the free ones (FreeVee), so I figured I should watch it while I got the chance.

Never seen it before, but it was pretty excellent (definitely brutal in a way the other Wolverine movies weren't).

personally X-men 2 is my favourite X-men film then probably X-men first class

trev666

nessisonett

@RogerRoger X-Men 2 is probably the best movie that actually has the X-Men in it. I quite like Days of Future Past but it doesn’t really feel like it has a real team in it.

@RogerRoger Between Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, it’s a fairly tainted series all round. Probably more of a indictment of the industry at that time.

@LN78 I’m a regular viewer of TripleJump’s videos and streams, @ConfusedDude did the podcast for this site back in the day and still reviews the WWE games for PushSquare. They have a great dynamic and I highly recommend their Twitch stuff.
