Any movie lovers out there? I don't know about you guys but besides video games one of my biggest down time things to do is watch movies. Especially with the fact that the PS4 has Netflix, Crackle, and plays DVDs/Blu rays. I figure this could be a great idea for a thread where we can share a discussion on movies. What we have seen recently what we are looking forward to, what we thought of the movie etc.

So I will start. I recently watched Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters on Netflix stream and I have to say I did enjoy it. It did seem kinda short but they did leave the ending open for another one. Still if you like action, horror, steampunk type of stuff you will like this one I think.

So anyone else see anything lately?

I don't consider myself a movie buff or anything, but I do love and own a fairly large bluray collection.

Even if it's a bit late, I just watched American Psycho for the first time the other day. Everyone kept telling me I had to see it and that it was the greatest movie ever... I thought Christian Bale did an amazing job, but the movie just didn't appeal to me. It was almost too artsy for my taste.

I also went to the movie theater to see Anchorman 2 a couple weeks ago. It was funny and had a lot of good bits, but it was kind of long with a weak story. I still really enjoyed it.

Yeah I remember when American Psycho came out a few years back and everyone was raving about it, I saw it but yeah it didn't appeal to me either.  Just like I never saw the big deal about the Matrix movies.

Anchorman 2 doesn't appeal to me either but then again I dont like Will Farrel.

The movies that I am looking forward to this year is Captain America Winter Solider and Xmen Days of Future Past.  As interested in seeing the new Robocop but I am kinda afraid they are going to butcher that one like most of the stuff they did from my childhood when they try to bring it into this modern era.  Lol

Yeah I can't say I have seen a bad Marvel movie.  While I know alot of people didn't like the Fantastic Four movies or Ghost Rider I did enjoy them, but they wouldn't be at the top of my top favorites Marvel movie list but I will watch them again.

Now there are a few that I wont see like Hulk (the first movie not the one with Eric Bana) cause my friends have seen it and from what I have heard from them I wont like it.  And I wont see The Amazing Spiderman movies either cause I think it was just dumb of them to reboot the whole thing in such a short amount of time.  Plus I dont like the whole emo vibe that the last one gave off.

Other then that probably the worst Marvel movie I have seen is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Loved the thread and also love movies. Lately, however, I've been watching more TV Shows than movies because it's quicker to watch a single episode from a series that I like or may instead of a 2 hour movie...
Having said that, I also love the movies from Marvel and always enjoy them, to variyng degrees. My favourite super-hero movies are:
1- Batman: The Dark Knight
2- Avengers
3- Spiderman 2
4- X-Men 2
I also enjoy a lot of fantasy movies and The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy are my favourite movies overall.
The movies I'm looking forward to watch the most this year are The Hobbit 3 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
I've watched some surprisingly good movies on Netflix. The most recent is The Way Way Back and it surprised me because the story was fairly simple (shy boy on vacation begins to work at a water park and changes) but very well told.

Please..dont..mention...that..Ghost Rider...film lol Even though Im a DC guy myself, I cant help but be envious of the great work being done with Marvel films. The way all the avenger movies tie in together with the Avengers was brilliant. Quite like superhero movies myself and I tend to watch them the most. Last week I watched Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Avengers & Man of Steel all in 3D and enjoyed the lot. Captain America is possibily my favourite of the Avengers bunch though, for an origin story it was done really well (Nice 3D too considering it was a conversion) & its just a lot of fun to watch. While the DC stuff tends to be a bit off, Man of Steel suprised me. Wasn't too sure on a reboot for it but I thought it was really good, although the butchering going on with sequel leaves me worried. Looking forward to seeing the new Captain America & Thor films this year

As you've Probably guessed, I love watching 3D movies. A lot of haters for 3D around these days, but its not going to change my view on it as its superb when done right (Prometheus is one of my favourites. The 3D looks incredibly natural [Yes I loved the film too]). Anyone else here like viewing 3D movies?

I also have quite the collection of J-Gore/Japanese Exploitation movies if anyone wants to talk about the trashier side of cinema lol

I like watching 3D movies, but I don't like when it's poorly done, which happens in most cases.
The 3D in the Avengers was terrible, even if you cut it some slack for being a conversion.
One of the best 3D movies that I saw last year was Gravity. The story is good and the 3D is superb, probably the best 3D I saw in a movie and I was blown away when I saw Avatar.
The other movie that made a great use of 3D was The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, specially if you saw it in 48fps.

I enjoy a lot spy movies, like the Bourne Trilogy, and TV shows, such as Alias, Chuck and Nikita.

Yeah I am not a big fan of 3D movies but that's because the 3D effect gives me bad migraines.  So I tend to avoid those.

As for DC and Marvel  yeah its nice to see how all the Marvel movies link and I will admit DC is a bit behind.  However I am not counting DC out yet.  With the news for the Man of Steel sequel having both Batman and Wonder Woman and then the fact that the CW show Arrow is in the same universe as Man of Steel, and the fact that they have introduced Barry Allen and had him become Flash it looks like they are on their way to a JL movie.  This is going to be an exciting time for comic book based movies.

3d movies are rubbish. The only one I've seen in 3d any good is gravity. I also saw it whilst in the d box which is a moving chair, seriously amazing and loved the film in general too.

Recently I watched Equilibrium on netflix. It's about an alternate near future where after WW3, they banned human emotion to prevent any more hatred and rage, and in turn violence and wars. It was pretty good. It had a good story, an interesting premise, and some great action. Another I liked is that they explained some of the crazy action too. Like they explain how he dodges bullets, and if he fires his weapons for an extended period of time, the magazine has a buldge to hold more ammo on the bottom.
I also want to ask for some recommendations. I love assassins, and I want to know what good assassin movies on Netflix there are. The only requirements I have is that they don't have nudity (A rear end doesn't count), or language or sex above PG-13 level, or Saw levels of violence. (To make sure I'm clear, it doesn't need to be PG-13, I just don't like to watch stuff with language and sex that would make it rated R, I'm usually fine with violence).

Just saw a trio of good/decent movies. The Guest, Nightcrawler, and I Saw The Devil. No spoilers, thought they were all shot fairly interestingly with The Guest having a really good soundtrack.

@get2sammyb: Me too. Where as we got Aliens, Predator, Terminator etc etc in the 80s it seems now they just pump out sequels or super hero films. I honestly couldn't care less about the marvel universe, the dc universe is terrible as well.

Maybe we are not the target audience.
