I didn't technically buy this, but was looking to buy one. Girlfriend's brother gifted me an old acoustic guitar of his so I can start learning. Talked about it with him a while ago and he fixed it up and let me have it for nothing. Been having fun learning, as tough as it is. I am determined to stick with it.

We are going to a music shop on Thursday to have a look at potential future upgrades and what my first electric guitar might be.

10/10 would get for free again.

I bought a pack of brownie M&Ms, I'd never seen them before. They're basically small chunks of chocolate brownie encased in the usual sugar shells. Size wise, they're similar to peanut M&Ms, maybe slightly bigger. I enjoyed them, but not sure I'd get them again; I think I'd rather have either a proper brownie or a bag of regular M&Ms.

6/10 I guess

@Thrillho I thought review scores only started from 7/10?Untitled

@Quintumply I actually liked those Brownie M&Ms. They aren’t as good as they sound but the inside’s squidgy enough for me. A lot better than the disappointing new Brownie, Banoffee and Cherry Dairy Milks.

@Th3solution I think we have them mega flavour soda fountain machines in certain places in the UK. Or at least we had them for a while. Ours were pepsi branded and I am sure I saw them in a few Burger Kings and a hot dog place. Can't remember what that hot dog place was called now, though. I'm sure a fellow Brit can help me out. It's like an American style chain. Maybe it was Five Guys or something and they did burgers and hot dogs. I think it was Five Guys actually. But yeah I'm pretty sure they just squirted some Ribena in with the Pepsi syrup if you asked for blackcurrant pepsi and so on with all the other flavours.

@Quintumply I didn't really rate the brownie m and ms. I tried some brownie Munchies at the same time and also didn't rate them. I think Ben and Jerry's is the best use of brownie to be honest and it is munch

Bought a Raspberry Mocha from Starbucks today. It's not to often that I go to Starbucks but today it just sounded good and I needed a little help waking up this morning. It was pretty good and did its job.

@ralphdibny Fellow Brit here...

Five Guys is definitely the place. I've only been once, and I remember I couldn't believe the selection of drinks you could get. The burger was nice too, but that drinks machine was insane

@ralphdibny It's insane, the Met Office has issued it's first ever ameber extreme heat weather warning for the UK! If I were to go out now and buy an air-con unit from Argos it would probably get a rating of 100/10 just for the sheer relief...

On the topic of sodas, I got this thing once

Pretty sure you're supposed to use this mixed with booze but I just drank it out of the bottle and it was pretty good. Definitely not worth the ridiculous price tag though

I also had a Vietnamese coffee-flavored Coke once and it would be good if it wasn't based on the zero sugar version.

@NedStarksGhost oh really?! I can't work out if it feels hotter than last year's heat wave. It's just awful though. I'm experimenting with keeping the windows shut during the day to stop hot air coming in. It's still sweltering but I think it might end up hotter if I opened them

I think I'm going to have to get the big fan out soon....

(I don't normally because I have to tie things down because it's so powerful 😅)

@ralphdibny I know you're supposed to believe everything you read on the internet, so this is 100% true

According to a BBC article, houses get hot mostly through sunlight shining on and through windows so blackout curtains are a good idea during the day to keep them closed... Another idea is to have the window open and your fan facing out, so it acts like an exhaust fan...

I give up with all that though and just blast the fan full pelt in my face because it makes me feel better!

NedStarksGhost

ralphdibny

@NedStarksGhost haha yeah I do the fan face thing too. I've got my blackout curtains closed as well. It's much hotter between the curtains and my windows so I think it is doing something!!

I actually put up some mirrored laminate on my windows last year too. It was mainly to stop the sunlight blinding me when I opened the curtains but I think it also reduces heat. As well as stopping people seeing in during the day. It goes the opposite way at night though so I can't see out 😅

@ralphdibny @NedStarksGhost According to a sleep therapist (or something like that) on Radio 5 earlier she recommended to keep the windows open and curtains/blinds shut to keep the rooms feeling a bit cooler.

My mum really struggles in this heat, so my parents have a couple of those portable ice are coolers, which are a great help in this weather.

@JohnnyShoulder trouble is, I don't wake up early enough to close the windows before it starts heating up again. I think I'm going to try it tonight anyway and just hope for the best in the morning 🤞

Got my windows open now that it's cooler outside than it is in my house

NedStarksGhost

@ralphdibny good idea actually! Looks a bit like a space house too

@JohnnyShoulder interesting, I will give that a go.

I think it may be time to invest in air-conditioning companies in the UK!
