@JohnnyShoulder I'm thinking of joining you in Bohemia but I have one small, I'm not even sure if gripe is the word. Is sword-play very particular? or can you opt for anything else like a bow or even a dagger? Years of fencing has locked me into the feel, flow and natural reactions that go against traditional sword-play and I don't want to risk falling into a loop of missing/getting essentially murdered by the A.I. because of those differences. I played Bannerlords 2 last year and that required traditional sword combat, everything was the complete opposite. Getting past the tutorial was a journey all of it's own. If a sword is forced at the start did it take you long to find any other type of weapon? I'd even settle for a big stick over a sword.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
@GirlVersusGame I've found the swordplay quite easy to get into. Stab with R1, Swing with R2 and block with L1. And you can feint with the right stick and dodge with L1 plus a direction on the left stick.
There are a couple of prologues to get through before the game starts, and you get the opportunity to get some combat in with your sword, which eventually gets stolen from you. You can then start doing the tutorials and quests as you wish. I went with the tutorials and have just been given a wooden club lol.
There are other weapons and I've gotten to use a bow briefly but failed miserably. No doubt that would more easier with practice and some perks unlocked.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder That sounds like Crimson Desert, I think I was striking with R1 and the shield was L1. I know at one point it was R1 and R2 for some kind of attack and I had brain freeze trying to figure out where on the controller I was inputting buttons. It was late at night so that didn't help. I think those are the clunky controls people talked about, it sounds like Kingdom Come Deliverance is similar but more fluid. Either way what you said about the club sold me on it, I just hit download on the Royal Edition. I'm not sure if I have to install the DLC separately but I doubt it, once it's done I'll download the PS5 upgrade and jump in later tonight, thanks.
