@Kairu I always remember you and @Thrillho discussing the game (might have not even been directly to each other lol) and has been at the back of mind to give it a go.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Kairu
Good going. The first of many I should imagine... When Hades gets his hooks into you it really does! .. and then you wonder why everyone else isn't playing it and living it too.
At least that was my experience.

@Kairu Yes mate! Hades is pretty immaculate, and I tip my hat to the devs for managing to make such an accessible rogue-style game....
Pretty impressive how they managed to weave the story elements to work around the gameplay loop of dying, with each run never feeling 'wasted' as it unlocks more narrative beats.
I think my first clear was with the shield(?) but I also enjoyed the spear and the bow.
I slept on this game for so long, ignoring all the praise.... and then finally picked it up at an airport while travelling. Played non-stop for a couple of months on Switch, loved it
I'm at what I'm guessing is the final boss in ToCS2, McBurn was a real pain in the butt but eventually got past him. hopefully finish up this week if I get a minute In between DIY and eagerly await Ragnarok!
I am having lots of fun with Hot Wheels Unleashed, and it is really fun game. I also completed Episode INTERmission and will definitely be replaying both Final Fantasy VII Remake and it's DLC, Episode INTERmission in the future. Both Guilty Gear -Strive- and Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate was super awesome and fun. Finally, FIFA 23 was fun to play, especially to kill off boredom 😎🎮🔵👍🏼
Pretty new to PS5 and have recently completed both Astro's Playroom & Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Astro was fantastic, just as good as Nintendo's top tier platformers, IMO, and I loved the way it felt like a love letter to PlayStation history (gave it a sense of history that until now only Nintendo has been able to pull off). Earlier this week I finally found the last puzzle piece I was missing, so have now collected everything.
Wrapped Miles this week as well. I actually really enjoyed the smaller scale vibe & length of it, made the game feel much more personal (the time capsule, music, & postcard side quest lines really added to this too).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Just got my first Playstation console since the PS1 yesterday. The PS5 is a beast. I've a lot of old games to catch up on so starting out with God of War and Spiderman.
@blockfight Wow, you do have a lot of games to catch up on! 😄 You’re out of luck for most of the PS2 and PS3 library, but you have thousands to choose from on PS4 and PS5.
God of War and Spider-Man are great places to start too. Both excellent.
Have you considered doing the PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription? You wouldn’t have to buy a game for a long time with the huge back catalogue that you’d have access to through that. And the Premium level would give you some access to a few PS2, PS3, and PSP titles if you’re interested in the retro library. At $120 a year up front it’s a big initial cost, but if you play 3-4 games over the next year on it then it pays for itself. You’re likely to play that many in the first month! 😄

@Th3solution I signed up to the cheapest Playstation Plus Tier (Essential I think?) but to be honest I might even cancel that yet as I'm doing gameshare with a friend of mine and he's got about 60 or 70 great games for me to dive into. Cyberpunk, TLOU 1 and 2, SIFU, Uncharted games, Spiderman etc.
He's also preordered the latest God of War game too so I'm all set.
Is there any reason for me to keep PS Plus sub based on that? Are the extra benefits worth it do you think?
@blockfight Ah, that’s great! Having access to a bunch of games through your friend is probably got your covered for a while.
The PS+ Essential tier is probably only going to be useful to you right now for access to online gaming. So if you want to dabble in online multiplayer gaming like Call of Duty, FIFA, fighting games, Red Dead Online or GTA Online, Gran Turismo 7, etc, etc. then you’ll need to keep an active PS+ subscription. For single player game and offline single player modes of all games, having PS+ is completely unnecessary. (Incidentally, if I’m not mistaken, free-to-play online games like Fortnite, Fall Guys, Warzone, etc do not require PS+ to play online).
The second part of PS+ Essential that you’ll benefit from is cloud backup saves. Again, not an absolute necessity, but PS5 doesn’t allow you to back up your saves to a jump drive (unless I’m mistaken on that and it’s been patched in, but it hasn’t been possible to this point), so if you want to have backups to your game saves in the cloud, then you’ll have to have a PS+ sub.
The monthly “free” games are the other benefit to Essential and you have to actually claim them to add them to your library, but forever after that, they are yours to download and play as long as you have an active sub. If you cancel or let your sub expire, then you’ll lose access to those games you claimed. So for this month, go claim Lego Harry Potter, Nioh 2, and Heavenly Bodies which just dropped and you’ll have them in your digital library from now on. If you stop your PS+ Sub for a while and then re-sub later, any of the previous free games you claimed will show back up in your library again, but only the ones that you’ve claimed.
So the perpetually growing library of “free” digital games is an incentive to stay subscribed for most of us.
The PS+ Extra tier (the mid-level subscription) has a large preexisting library of games available to you from the start. There’s around 400 or so I think. A lot of them are garbage games you’ll likely never want to play, but there’s fantastic ones there too like Returnal, Demon’s Souls Remake, FF7 Remake Intergrade, Ghost of Tsushima Complete Ed., etc.
Its basically like GamePass on Xbox, minus the inclusion of brand new releases. So Horizon Forbidden West or GoW Ragnarok won’t be on there (for probably about a year or two, I’d guess).
Hopefully that clears some of it up. It is confusing, but in a nutshell, you don’t really need the Extra level sub right now since you have basically the same thing available for free from your friend. In fact TLoU2, Cyberpunk, Sifu, and some of the Uncharted games are not included in PS+Extra yet, so what you have is even better.
The Essential tier is more of a dilemma though. It just depends if you want to play online or if you want to have the ability to backup your game saves.
@Th3solution Wow! Thank you for taking the time to write all that. Ya I think I'm gonna let my subscription lapse. I play online multiplayer games with my mates on Xbox, most don't have a playstation. So I don't need the sub for online play. And I've already got that great base of games from Gameshare as mentioned. I'll be using Playstation mostly for the single player games I've missed out on.
Thanks again.
@blockfight Welcome and congratulations on your new purchase
I feel the need to wade in here and back up @Th3solution - I'd also highly recommend you sub to the middle tier of the online service, known as PS+ "EXTRA".
The library of games is huge, and obviously includes some toss/filler... BUT if you are new to the PS ecosystem then there are a ton of must-play titles - including my own personal favorite Returnal!
Also the EXTRA tier will give you all the benefits of the previous/lower tier as well, including cloud saves and online play etc
From a financial perspective, the middle EXTRA tier will likely give you immediate access to many of the games you would have been interested in or purchased anyway... so it absolutely makes sense. I'd recommend you quickly check out the list of 'best games available on extra' and if there are at least 2-3 AAA that take your interest then I'd advise you sub.
This is a great forum though, and I've enjoyed my time here since I joined a year ago - everyone's recommendations are pretty valid, and there is minimal toxicity (rare for a gaming site?!)
@CJD87 Thanks for the info. To be honest as great an all as the PS+ Extra lineup is, I think I have more than enough games through gameshare with my friend to last me a long time. And since I only know 2 people who are on Playstation but about 10 of my mates are on Xbox and Switch, I likely won't need online multiplayer for awhile on Playstation. I'll be using Xbox and Switch for that.
Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to being part of the Push Square community.
