Hades was such a pleasant surprise for me. It was actually all the hype/praise that put me off from playing it, assuming that nothing could 'live up to' the high critical reception it was receiving!
Wound up playing on Switch last year, absolutely loved it. I think SG did an incredible job in making quite an obtuse genre (rogue-lite/like) into a very accessible entry point.
How they weave the narrative and story beats into the run/die/repeat cycle is very admirable, and the gameplay is brilliant.
Hades is sitting prominently on my backlog shelf too. I wasn’t as impressed with Supergiant’s Transistor as everyone else was, so I think subconsciously I’m expected to be disappointed with Hades too. But I picked it up anyways on the back of the universal praise. Now I just need to find the time and the mood.

About 20 hours into Tales of Arise. Love the combat, Currently in the third region. Will most likely take a break from it and dive into Ragnarok once that gets here.
I'm currently playing Outer Wild but I'm beginning to worry that I might not finish it before Ragnarok. Of course, I could always return to it as a break from ripping wulvers apart.
@Bentleyma Control was one of my favorite games from last gen. I played a bit of it on PS5 a while back just to see how good the new gen version looked and ran in comparison and was really impressed with it even at 30 FPS. Now that I've played plenty of games at 60 FPS since, it will be interesting if I'm still fine with Control at 30 FPS or not whenever I play the new gen version fully (likely at some point next year).
My wife randomly bought me a copy of Call of Duty MW2 the other day. I wasn't expecting much but wow, the campaign is great. Haven't had this much fun with a Call of Duty campaign since the late 00's. Playing through on Veteran. May even go for the Platinum if I have time. Want to get it finished before God of War Ragnarök in a few days.
@Bentleyma
Control was a great game and the difference from PS4 to PS5 is probably the most dramatic generation jump I have experienced only maybe rivaled by Cyberpunk. I'd recommend playing it in the 60fps option though as the combat especially shines in that mode.
Born too early to explore space and born too late to explore Earth, but born just in time to explore memes.
@JudgeDredd Trying to find that Control image, I found a screenshot from Hades and it turns out 9 in a row was my record so it really isn’t that bad once you’re in the groove!
And less than 25mins for my quickest complete run too.
MW2, Completed the campaign on hardened and now going for the veteran finish, I've played CoDs since the first came out and this is one of the best campaigns for sometime, I never go for CoD plats but I'm going for this one. Biggest gripe would be that it's very short it cab be done in about 4 hours once you know the levels.
Been playing it online as well as I'm a big multiplayer fan, It's fun, needs a little tweaking here and there and I can't wait for the HardCore mode but I'm enjoying it.
Started Cyberpunk 2077 last week, I was really contemplating waiting until after Ragnarok to start it but after watching Edgerunners and seeing all the reviews about the new updates and so on I just give it a shot and I've got to say I've been blown away by it, I've had only a few minor glitches nothing game breaking, 2 most notable where Jackie walking through a parked car and some one pouring a drink into a glass that wasn't there but over all a smooth a brilliant experience, the story seems really good and the gigs and stuff are just brill, the lore and the world is so good, one of the best I've seen in a long time and I've only put 12hrs in!
Honestly would reccomened anyone who has a next gen console or pc to give this game a whirl because its probably at the standard it should of been at release.
@JudgeDredd Like @Thrillho says once you get into the groove you can really make some progress. Don't however do what I did which was use the wrong Death Defiance at the mirror (think it was Stubborn Defiance). It took me 30 or more deaths to realise that I should have just had the standard Death Defiance selected so ended up getting destroyed on the run up to the final boss and then having nothing left. Once I switched over it was easy 😅
Still Pathfinder WOTR for me and only Act 2. Quite fun with some really hard to hit enemies. Good thing I summon about 2 dozen skeletons to keep them distracted.
@MaulTsir Like @Thrillho said, it's good to see another person loving Cyberpunk 2077. I know it's not a 2022 game technically, but it was one of my favorite games I've played this year.
I went with Nomad on my first run. I plan on playing it a second time at some point as the female V to get a different experience and to see what the Judy romance is like. I also purposely didn't do certain side quests (basically all of Wakako's) to give me something extra for the 2nd playthrough as well.

@Bentleyma Another big Control fan here. I agree that it’s probably the best showcase of PS5 capabilities that I’ve played so far, along with Returnal and maybe Rift Apart. Well, and maybe Astro’s Playroom.
Like you, I chose to stay with the fidelity mode because the ray tracing was so scrumptious and I was still accustomed to 30 fps at the time. Since then, I’m getting more and more spoiled by higher frame rate, but still think the RT was worth the sacrifice in Control. Really loved that game.

@Thrillho@KilloWertz The game has really hooked me in so looking forward to playing more.
I've gone with a street kid, I don't know how the other roles start but it felt almost perfect to fit with the story, I'll be giving it a second run with a female nomad V next time though.
@KilloWertz@MaulTsir I went with a female V for the second run. I thought the prologues were quite clever, particularly how they introduce Jackie in different ways. The unique conversation options for each “origin” is a nice touch too.
Finally got around to playing Ghost of Tsushima Directors cut on PS5. I forgot how good this game is and how many worthwhile activities there are to do. When I started Act II and went directly to Iki Island and played the entire thing over the weekend. While some of the story beats made me wish I had done this after the end credits of the main game, it was still nice to see Jin get some closure. Plus the Sarugami Armor with the right charms is OP. I chose not to import my PS4 save and just play fresh and I have seen so many things I forgot happened during my first playthrough. What a great game.
