I’m a post-patch Unity apologist but this platinum cured me of that. Possibly the most miserable thing I’ve ever done. Traversing the incredibly dense and repetitive map to open every chest and collect everything, and do every tiny mission, and do the riddles… I wanted it to end so badly. You really see the cracks in the parkour when you play it for that long (69 hours!!!!), like the game actively fights against you trying to play it. I can only describe it like playing an AC game except you’re drunk and you have sausages for hands. Nothing really works, the repetitive content exacerbated that feeling and honestly trying to do it all with my ADHD felt like having an itchy brain if that makes sense. Like pushing myself to do it all felt like having somebody scratch the actual surface of my brain with needles as I did every single little icon on the map.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, try getting the multiplayer trophy for 10 sync kills when every person you play with is an absolute moron. They’re walking up to enemies and just starting fights when I need 10 assassinations in sync with the other person. It took far far too long to find somebody sane. I’m so glad it’s over. Even Black Flag multiplayer wasn’t a slog like this. I’m sorry Unity, I never ever ever want to play you again.
And that’s the platinums down for AC 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. Only Mirage left to go that I actually own!
A 2D side scrolling platformer with beautiful 3D level design with a slightly daft "story" and plenty of fun ideas to keep you entertained for the roughly 4-5 hours it takes to complete.
The platinum takes a bit longer to find all the collectibles, complete a few niche trophies, and complete two longer stealth areas without being spotted but takes no time at all with a very generous chapter select too.
@Thrillho Congratulations on getting that sweet, sweet platinum of Hades II in the end! I admire your persistance, despite having to go through a bit of a grind to get that final trophy. I think Great Chaos Below was the trophy that made me not even attempt getting the 100% on it, even if I had an unusually higher interest in unlocking those achievements over time. Maybe one day I can go back to it and clean up whatever I have missing... but even then, I'm sure my exclusively passable skills will have left me by then! Just eleven trophies to go to the century mark. What's coming up next for you?
I'm currently juggling Halo Campaign Evolved, GTA 5 and RDR2!
All of the online trophies are done for GTA and RDR2 thank goodness.
Mainly focusing on RDR2 at the moment, the game is one of the all time greats thats for sure! Just need to clear up the last few challenges and the 70 gold story medals. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
@Thrillho The combination of the need to see these things through, with the mental torture of actually sticking to one thing is genuinely masochistic. Worth it, got a meaningless digital shiny don’t I 😂
@Tjuz I wasn’t looking forward to the Great Chaos Below but got lucky on my first attempt. I almost got beaten by the Vow of Rivals Hecate but just managed to defeat her. I had the Black Coat which is my favourite weapon as you can zip around so easily and spam the omega special to lock on to enemies.
After Darwin’s Paradox it’s back to a longer game and I’ve decided to give Jurassic World Evolution 3 a go which has been sat on my hard drive for a while. We’ll see if I get near the platinum for that one!
@nessisonett AC2 is the only game I’ve actually played in the series but I couldn’t be bothered with collecting all the damn feathers. I’ve been close to buying Valhalla in particular a few times but always found something else to play instead. And a meaningless digital shiny is always worth it 😁
@Thrillho It’s a shame I don’t have the Hades games on PS cause I’d have the platinums too. Do you need all 3 statues for the platinum in Hades 2? It’s definitely worth the effort 😂
@nessisonett No, you didn't but after the Great Chaos Below run I'm not sure the extra Fear levels would be too bad when you can actually choose your build still. But there has to be a point where I (finally) moved on from the game and that was certainly it!
The top comment about the three gold online trophies for Fight Night Round 4 are insane. You had to win the World Championship Belt in three different weight categories and there was literally only one belt for each in the world. What hilarious lengths the poster had to go through to finally get it!
An amazing comment about someone desperate to get a Guitar Hero trophy for strumming a million times and buying a sex machine to do so; I hope you've not had to resort to such shenanigans @nessisonett
@Thrillho Yeah, I’m so used to beating boosted Typhon and Chronos now that it feels cheap when I don’t have the vow of rivals maxed, it’s the best way to rack up the fear. Just working on doing it with every hidden aspect now!
And thankfully I don’t need to bother with a million strums since I’m playing the PS2 games as my PS3 is yellow lighting these days 😂
Not a bad game, but definitely shows it's age level design wise, like repeating the same areas but backwards (classic). I did my first play through on legendary, which was probably a mistake as I dead... a lot. I would also like to add the performance wasn't great (on pro by the way). Overall 7.5-8/10 and will more then likely buy Halo 2 if it comes to PS of course.
@Oram77 congrats on the 159th!
A little uncanny seeing that particular title with “plat” attached to it xD.
I agree btw, I tried it on gamepass and came out feeling a little lukewarm.
Had this on the back burner since May, at point I wasn't going to bother going for it, as I'm not the biggest fan of the game to be honest, but here we are. I see PS published a article saying there's going to be sequel and if true they need to improve in a lot of areas, mostly the humanoid bosses as they are just cheap looking at you Honglan. If any of you are thinking of going for platinum I implore you to upload a save file to the cloud other wise you have to play through the game FOUR times!
Overall 6.5/10 - Feathers have indeed fallen and get back up any time soon
@Oram77 congrats on both, it's never not going to feel odd seeing Halo and Playstation mentioned. I did buy a copy but only to add to the other physical Microsoft oddities in the PS5 library. It's a really strange time in gaming history and being able to add those cases to that collection really does feel like a kind of time-capsule. I did play them on game-pass and they didn't do much for me but people were obviously looking forward to playing Halo so I'm happy for them. Especially since the Pro performance seems even better.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
