There’s A New Red Faction Game Coming In 2011 Folks

Of Course We Want More Red Faction.

Of Course We Want More Red Faction.

Any Red Faction Guerrilla fans here? Yup, us too. Thank goodness for a new entry in the franchise then — one due as soon as March, 2011.

Well, that’s what THQ’s Danny Bilson has told Joystiq, claiming the game will be a hybrid between the first two Red Faction games and Guerrilla.

“The new game takes [Red Faction] to a whole new place, it kind of goes back to the old Red Faction because about 80% of it is underground,” said Bilson.

As long as we get to blow up big buildings — we’re cool.

THQ’s Metro 2033 Not On Playstation 3 Due To “Business Reasons”

Metro 2033 Is Not Coming To The Playstation 3 Due To "Business Reasons".

4A Game’s Hew Beynon has commented on the reason Metro 2033 is not coming to the Playstation 3. In an interview with VG247 he cites “business reasons” for the decision, but explains that there is no reason why the game couldn’t come to PS3.

He said:

“That’s probably more of a business decision, and one that I wasn’t part of when I was at THQ.

“The studio architect of the 4A engine did a lot of the initial work on the PS3 first, just to get to grips with the architecture.

“A lot of the early prototypes you saw were of the PC version… You’d probably have to ask someone up in senior THQ finance to find out why we didn’t greenlight a PS3 version at the time, but there’s no reason why the engine wouldn’t work on PS3.”

Baynon later added that 4A Games now have the PS3 architecture in place, so any future titles developed by them will see release on the Playstation 3 too. Which is nice to know. Whether we get a port of Metro 2033 down the line will probably depend on how well the game is received on PC and XBOX 360.

Ok Geoff Keighley. We get it. You think your awards show has lots of cool stuff happening. But for goodness sake, much as we love you, we’re getting a bit bored of hearing about you now. Stop using Twitter for five minutes, Geoff. Please. You’re making us work. Too much. Don’t frown at us. We love your smile still. We love the Bonus Round. But c’mon. You’re like a marketing machine. Or something.

Oh what the hell. We’ll tell the kind readers that the VGAs are set to unveil the latest UFC game, UFC Undisputed 2010. UFC is all about sweaty men bonding. It’s big in the US right now.

The games are good too.

Happy Keighley? Are you bloody happy?

Double XP This Coming Long Weekend Will Be On Hand For Red Faction Guerrilla Players.

Remember that Red Faction: Guerrilla patch we were talking about? It’s coming this August 6th (*cough* that’s today). To celebrate the launch of the patch, developers Volition are having a long weekend of double XP. Running from today (once the patch has released) until Sunday night you’ll be able to bump up your XP titles and (hopefully) earn yourself a trophy in the process.

Red Faction Guerrilla Patch Extends The Game That Little Bit More

Red Faction Guerrilla Will Be Getting Extended Via A New Patch.

Red Faction Guerrilla Will Be Getting Extended Via A New Patch.

Red Faction Guerrilla is already a generous offering. Great single-player mode. Some decent local multiplayer. Excellent online multiplayer. Still, THQ aren’t content with what they’ve got just yet, they want to give you more. How about a new Wrecking Crew mode? Sorted; Challenge Mode will set players across three different levels, each time with a different weapon and backpack. The task – get the highest score. Awesomely, Wrecking Mode is also going to be available as a single-player experience now too, which is pretty neat if you have no friends.

The patch also adds a series of fixes to the existing game and opens the pathway to the DLC which is on its way soon.
