April 2021's PlayStation Plus games have been officially announced, and as always, we want to know what you think of them. In case you missed it, the lineup includes Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS5, and it's joined by Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War on PS4. No, we haven't somehow time-jumped to October by accident, and no, we don't know why Sony's gone with a zombie theme in the middle of spring. Your guess is as good as ours.
Assuming Oddworld: Soulstorm is worth your time (we're in the process of reviewing it right now), this is another solid PS Plus selection. However, the inclusion of Days Gone has inevitably rubbed some people the wrong way. After all, the open world title is already available as part of the PS Plus Collection on PS5. It's also on PS Now, PlayStation's other, less popular subscription service (but that's a whole different conversation).
Are you happy with April's PlayStation Plus games? Vote in our polls, and then give us an honest opinion in the comments section below.

Kind of, I'm really interested in oddworld soulstroms, but I already got days gone three times, bought it on psn, get it from ps collection, and now from psplus 😂
@wiiware Yeah, pretty much. Days Gone nonsense aside, Oddworld is a series I have zero knowledge of and so I’d at least try it.
I hope the Zombie game turns out fun as I have low expectations for Oddworld considering I’ve never enjoyed one and I’ve owned Days Gone and had it offered on Now, my PS5, and now Plus.
Eh, they're ok. For someone that doesn't have Days Gone then its better but I’ve already got 1 if the 3 games. Dead Army 4 could be ok but I doubt I ever play it. Oddworld looks like it could be fun though so at least I got one new game I’ll try.
I wouldn't have played Soulstorm if it wasn't on Plus, so they got me there. The rest of the games don't thrill me.
@nessisonett It's a good (and funny) 2D games, it's originated from way back on psone era, I recommend it if you got psplus 😃
I'm looking forward to playing Oddworld, and I think Days Gone and Zombie Army 4 are good games. Another great month!
There is no choice to select "beat Days Gone 1,5 years ago".
It's a Meh from me, Bob. Certainly not terrible, but I've already played Days Gone and don't have a PS5 to try Oddworld. Zombie Army 4 sounds like it could provide a few enjoyable hours for me and a mate across the pond, though. But I'd love to know the rationale behind putting out 2 zombie games. If it was October I could maybe understand, but ¯(ツ)/¯
Already own Days Gone but that's a great drop for those that don't. No interest in Oddworld though, I loved Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath but the Abe games do nothing for me at all. Looking forward to trying ZA4, I'd never buy it but I'll definitely give it a go for 'free'.
The only one I would be interested in, I’ve already been given with PS Now and then PS Collection, so can’t really be too pleased.
Oddworld I’ve never liked since I first played it on ps1, puzzle platformers are not my thing, and neither are online coop games.
Can’t criticise too much because Sony gave everyone great free games this month, but I and many others really hope Sony stop giving us doubles of games (or even triples) on their subscription services.
I already own Days Gone, it's an ok game. Oddworld I will look at (when I get a PS5) and the zombie army game will go straight into the ever growing backlog.
It's not a bad selection by any means, but nothing to really get excited about. Personally this is the first month for a good while where the selection hasn't really grabbed my attention. Can't win 'em all though.
Zombie Army is really good, old school co-op shooter fun. Can't recommend it enough if you've got a friend or two to play it with, and you're not expecting anything mindblowing.
Days gone drags the selection down a ton and Sony should continue to be reprimanded for continuously releasing ps now offerings on plus and vice versa. Hopefully they'll listen and cut it out.
Definitely excited about Soulstorm, used to love the Oddworld games back in the day. Good mix of humor, gore, and challenging puzzle/platforming.
Being on PS5, Days Gone is redundant but I'm excited for Oddworld. Zombie Army is one of those games I hardly knew anything about and kind of assumed it's not worth my time for whatever reason - but now seeing some reviews re-emerge, looks like it's actually supposed to be pretty good
So yeah, mostly happy
Extremely happy.i dont have neither days gone and zombie army.so its all 👍 god.psplus has been so good that im good till 2022.i might buy another 1 year for 2023.word up son
A good month overall. I bought Days Gone day one (with zero regrets). I know there's a lot of banter about it formally being a Now game and included with the PS5 PS Plus instant game collection, but that only accounts for less than 10% of the PS4 owners, and roughly 1/4 of Plus subscribers.
A guess it’s an OK month for some but being new to the PlayStation and having a repeat free game after only 1 month is a little underwhelming (got days gone from PS Plus collection). I don’t have much interest in the other game but might try odd world. Given all the free games from the play at home initiative kind of compensate for me this disappointment. Simply hope that the whole PS Plus Collection won’t simply end up being the foreseeable months...
Well I've owned Days Gone since day 1 and I'll be buying Oddworld anyway so nothing for me here
Nothing for me this month, but I haven’t completed FF7 Remake yet so it’s fine.
Oddworld definitely has my interest. I didn't realise it was launching on PS Plus. That's a pretty nice move. I'll be happy to give Zombie Army a go too.
As for Days Gone, I loved it when it came out. The more people who get to experience it the better.
Oddworld is a game I'd never buy myself, but I'll at least give a try, so that's good I guess.
But I've got no interest in the other two.
@lacerz I completely agree with you, I bought Days Gone limited edition a couple of weeks after release, now anyone who has a ps4 and ps+ can play it. I haven't played Zombie Army 4 yet so I'll try that out. Oddworld Soulstorm looks ok and as it's a new ps5 game that's something to look forward to.
Days Gone was one of those games I had no interest in when it came out, since open world + zombies sounded like the most basic AAA title idea ever, but I think I can give it a chance if it's free.
Oddworld being included makes me happy. If it wasn't included I probably would've waited until July when the physical copy releases to play it.
I already have Days Gone and don’t care for the other 2. Days Gone is a good game though so I’m glad more people get to experience it.
@HUMPERDOO You don't see the Easter theme in these games? They're clearly a nod to zombie Jesus.
Great month, just for Days Gone.
Will have to add Oddworld to my library for the future.
Yes I'm happy with just Oddworld. Love Days Gone but finished that 100% already
These are all good games.
Pity odd world not available on ps4 Pro. But can I add to library untill I get a ps5 or is this just a timed demo as a brand new game going into psn straight away seems odd. All ready have days gone. Not sure about last one. Might have a look.
@zupertramp he rose up from the dead.
It's decent. It's no GamePass that's for sure.
Looking forward to replaying Days Gone. I heard they smoothed it out a lot since launch.
@Anonimia but its certainly better than what games with gold are offering in April
Well I own the Zombie Army trilogy so this will compete the collection, except I'm sure this will be the base game lacking all the pricey DLC.
Days Gone I have on the PS5 PS+ Collection. I'm not really a fan of it. I've played a good 4-5 hours, the story and gameplay weren't really keeping my interest.
Oddworld doesn't interest me much at all. Outside of Strangers Wrath, which was tons of fun, I dont have a desire to play any Oddworld games.
So in the end, this month is pretty meh. I've recently made a decision to only play games I own that I have enough interest in to actually finish. I'm no longer going to play games in my backlog or newly released that don't keep my interest. It's a waste of my valuable free time. So these will go into my backlog, of which I'm making decent progress on with my new decision to carefully choose what I play.
@trev666 Games with Gold is a relic. It's been outclassed by GP, and frankly, Microsoft should just let it die.
@thefourfoldroot
As a PS+ only member I do not think its fair to give a title to one membership service and not the other. Especially one as good as Days Gone! PS-Now only subscribers I am sure feel the same. Its my guess that most do not sub to both services. Getting titles you already have is common or seeing titles on PS-Now. I see little difference between that and getting one on both subscriptions. The only thing that is important is do you see value in the service over the year of membership.
I would have purchased Abe's Odd World so it's a great month for me.
@JohnKarnes
I agree, games should not be on one subscription service and not another. All games should come to the ONE service. Now, as annoying as it might be for someone with one sub to miss out on a game on another sub, at least they have saved money by not buying that other sub. Far more annoying to give Sony money for both only to have that not acknowledged, and be given the same games multiple times, for what feels like at least half the months over the last year.
@ShogunRok
That's exactly what I'm hoping for. Got 3 friends really eager to try Zombie Army 4. So hoping even if the game doesn't hold up to scrutiny we'll have a blast for a couple of weeks. Having a team to play with makes games like this, when you add in the funnies.
Technically freakers are not zombies. If you've played the epilogue mission, you'll know what i mean.
It's an OK month. Maybe I'll even give Days Gone another try now that it's not a glitchy pile of crap. Maybe not though.
Whenever I get a half decent multiplayer game to try with friends, I am happy
Indifferent. I don't praise or condemn the samples they hand out at stores. I either partake or don't. Same here.
Already had Days Gone from the PS+ collection but I am very happy to be getting Oddworld: Soulstorm day and date!
It's not the best in recent months, but I'm fairly happy to give Soulstorm a go. Already have days gone in the collection, but given play at home and some of the recent months I kinda need time to catch up anyway.
Not overwhelmed, but not complaining either.
I don't have a PS5 so Oddworld isn't available to me, own a PHYSICAL copy (remember those?) of the very good Days Gone but have no interest in the other zombie game.
So be it, I'll still resubscribe to Plus before the month is out and hope for something relevant for me in May.
@lacerz Yeah but to some on this site only PS5 owners matter, us PS4 peasants should be treated as an afterthought.
😒
I think it's another great line up.I've played Days Gone unfortunately but it's a fantastic game.I'm not a fan of the Oddworld series but looking forward to Zombie Army 4 despite not playing the first 3..
If I didn't already own Days Gone and wasn't sucking at playing New N Tasty, I would be def happy.
I honestly subscribe for the additional discounts on games, so everything else is gravy for me.
I also come from a generation where paying $25-$30 a year and getting up to 50 games, no matter the quality, was not remotely a thing, so I’m a little biased and probably more easily pleased.
I own most of the titles already whenever we get them each month, but I think the service has been especially strong on that front lately. Days Gone is a great game. It doesn’t bother me that I paid $20 to own it outright. Same thing with Control Ultimate Edition. Or $60 to own FFVII Remake on Day One.
Objectively, there are some great games hitting over the last few months. How can anyone still complain?
Looking forward to trying Zombie Army 4.
While I'm not mad about it, I do think that giving away games that are part of the Playstation Collection take away from its exclusivity and purpose..
Might as well give the Collection to everyone and give away different games on PS+.
I'm pretty happy with it. Oddworld launching into PS+ for free is pretty awesome. Solid titles.
@Excess same here and I’m loving FF7R so it’s all good. BTW I love your avatar, def looking forward to Stray!
@thefourfoldroot
First I do not want a "ONE" service. Combining both would cost more and there is no guarantee any discount would be added. Making the service $118 a year.
It would have been very easy for me to be upset Days Gone was added at all. I own almost every major AAA PS4 game on physical disc. I do not want any of them to come on PS +. I have had to look over months in a row also, when they were added. Sony has added many games I paid for. I have asked myself why purchase so many new physical titles when they are handed out like trick or treat candy free. But that is also why I love PS + and have been a member for 11 years. There are still more then enough that I do not own.
There is another way to look at the services. PS Now is more about the 100's of game that are already in the games list. Not the few titles added each month so much. While PS + is more about online play and a small few games that are given each month. I think every one subbed to PS+ or PS-Now or both have felt disappointment every year at times. I don't think that takes away for its over all value for the full year.
Most looking forward to Zombie Army 4. I was introduced to Rebellion games with a previous PS Plus title Sniper Elite 4. Really enjoy their shooting mechanics. I've already played through Days Gone, my only platinum, and I loved it.
i highly suggest playing days gone on ps5 if you have one or plan on getting one. it runs much much smoother on ps5.
Great month, thank you!! Keep em coming!!
@Hawklord Add to your library and it will be waiting for you when you get your PS5.
@Col_McCafferty PS4 folk are salt of the earth 😃
@beebs720 that will be some magic day when that becomes available to all. Will certainly add to library.
I would be happy with the Oddworld Soulstorm if I have a PS5.
Soul storm will be great to try on ps5. That'd be it though
How many times do we need to ask for knack 2? This should not be so hard to get right.
Roll on May. Nothing else to say.
@Col_McCafferty
I have a PS5. My suggestion? Don't have PS5 envy. It's not deserved. Nothing that I'm playing now can't be played on a PS4. Currently I'm working through 13 Sentinels. I also dab into Bugsnax. I have very limited time into Miles Morales. All games that are available and quite capable on the PS4. Trust me, you are good with what you have.
EDIT:
I should note that the 60FPS is a HUGE difference, but that's for the games that support it. That's probably the only real differentiator. Worth a new console? Depends on your taste.
I already have days gone and even though i found it boring i've been informed it gets better so i may give it another go as i am nearing the end of fenyx rising...always loved zombie army trilogy so i am looking forwards to ZA4 and how can anybody not love abe? Good month for everybody..
@Col_McCafferty what is a ps4 peasant? I dont know of any..the ps5 is a great console as is the ps4 in which ever itteration you own..the people who tell you its not worth having one yet are just trying to be all meh about having one as if its no big deal...being able to play your ps4 games in an enhanced form is akin to watching your dvds over again in 4k bluray format..if you can grab a ps5 grab one because they are a game changer..even if all you play are your ps4 games..
@JohnKarnes
So, what you are saying is that for about the same price as the universally lauded Gamepass, Sony could have a sub with far, far more downloadable games? Most people would like that idea it seems.
But, OK, perhaps some people don’t have the time for that many games (I probably don’t). In which case, continue with two options then, but make sure they have completely different libraries.
Sony can’t keep taking money from us for both yet giving the same games in each. It’s ridiculous.
And buying games is a completely different proposition as we own them, so I’m not sure why you brought that up. Of course I too have previously bought many games later added to Plus and Now, I never mentioned that and know it’s my own bad luck, not a systemic problem with the Sony ecosystem in the same way as duplicate games.
While we’re at it, Sony should also allow people to pay (or not pay) for online play separately. I’d be more than happy to pay for a combined Now and a plus that didn’t duplicate games and had no online access component, then just buy online access for a month on the rare occasions I might want to play an online game.
Not a bad month tbh. Like a lot of others, I already have Days Gone, but Zombie Army 4 might be fun.
People forget that there are over 100 million ps4s in the wild.;
Days gone is one of the best Sony exclusives, and despite ps5 owners already having it through the ps+ Collection, ps4 users shouldnt be forgotten.
I bought days gone through psn back in 2020, I dont belive "I already have this" is a good excuse for saying that this is a bad line up of games, when In fact, sony is keeping the high quality of games on plus in 2020
I'm looking forward to Oddworld, i've known about the series ever since the first games, but never played any of them. With new and improved graphics (not to mention free on PS5 with PS Plus), it seems like a good time to give it a try.
Days Gone was in that 'When its on sale' category so Im happy with that. Enough to make me resub a lapsed subscription
I wish Oddworld Soulstorm was free for the PS4 as well. Other than that no complaints.
@Shinnok789 I've played them all beginning with the first game and I can't wait to play OWSS. Great platform-style games.
I'm not too bothered about any of these but happy that some are. There are always going to be on and off months. We've also just had, what was for me at least, an amazing drop of games from Play At Home. And Horizon is still to come.
I dearly love Days Gone - I think it's horribly underrated, probably because it was originally released before it should have been. It was pretty awesome as a year-old patched game on a PS4, then a bit better on Pro, and even better on a PS5 (for the little time I've spent with it in NG+ mode). I'll probably play all the way through on NG+, mostly in breaks between other games.
Maybe it helps that I live here - Days Gone is set in a fictional version of Oregon, but it feels like places that I've been or might have passed through.
Oddworld...I never really got into any of the previous editions, but I'll give it another shot with this one.
ZW4 I would never have picked up on its own, but will probably try it as well.
Very happy in general.
I do not pay for remakes, so being able to try out both FF7 Remake and Oddworld: Soulstorm for free is a good deal for me.
PS+ is so I can play my Co-Op, Sports and Racing games online. These games are gravy I stack for the slow summer release months.
Absolutely zero interest. I don't do horror games ever.
That Zombie game could low key be pretty fun with a couple of buddies. If we can get 1 or 2 fun weekends out of it and its free, thats what PS Plus is all about for me.
Honestly Zombie Army 4 is really fun, as is Days Gone, but my issue is that I already own them both. At least I will get yet another PS5 game that I wouldn't have paid for (Soulstorm). Never been a fan of the Oddworld series outside of Stranger's Wrath.
It will be my first time playing Days Gone, so yes, I'm happy!
Really glad i kept putting off purchasing Days Gone in hopes of it being added to plus. Dont have a PS5 yet but ill be downloading the Oddworld game for sure.
Be grateful.... end of.
Would have been looking forward to odd world. But sadly the ps4 version was left out... Just like the ps5s are all sold out... "Playstation no limits" eh?
@JohnKarnes I'm similar in thought to many of your comments. I, too, own many physical copies.of PS4 games (several hundred) and I'm always hoping PSN doesn't give out games I have on physical discs but over the last several years, I sell back discs to Gamestop and on Craigslist when PSN provides games I already own and it's been working out great for me, which is why I also limit digital purchases of newer games.
However, the last several months including the Play at Home have been nice offerings by the tech giant. IMO It's another great month. Days Gone is a great game with nice graphics and gameplay. Oddworld is going into the library for later when I buy a 2ng generation PS5, as the 1st Gen always is lackluster. And since I have enjoyed the Sniper Elite games, Zombie Army should be fun.
Oddworld is a lovely game. I played the original Oddworld games on PS1 so naturally I was looking forward to Soulstorm the most. I plan to buy it when my PS Plus expires, I wouldn't do this normally but I just love the Oddworld games so much.
This vote is silly. Could be done every month. Different strokes, different folkes....
