After teasing the reveal earlier this week, Codemasters has announced DIRT 5.

This new take on the off-road racing series looks to take things back to a more laid back setting -- a sim racer this ain't. You can get a feel for what this game is all about in its debut trailer, embedded above.

It looks to have a wide variety of vehicles, events, and locations as you drift across ice, race through muddy tracks, and bash into each other in closed circuits. It gives off some slight Motorstorm vibes, which we certainly appreciate.

It's set to feature a career mode starring -- yes -- Nolan North and Troy Baker, among other voice talent. Four players can race at once in split-screen, too, and naturally there will be online play, plenty of customisation options, and lots of modes to enjoy.

DIRT 5 is a cross-gen title, coming to both PlayStation 5 and PS4. The game is due to launch "from October", so it seems it'll make it onto PS5 as a launch game. It should be a fun way to break in your next-gen console.
