Teaming up with powerhouse graphics tech company Nvidia, CD Projekt Red has produced a couple of extremely high quality Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots. These 4K snaps were taken from the game running on what can only be a very high end PC, but they're indicative of what Cyberpunk 2077 could look like running on next-gen hardware such the PlayStation 5.
What's more, the screenshots showcase ray tracing -- the in-game lighting tech that Sony has been bigging up whenever it's talked about the PS5. For those out of the loop, ray tracing is a method of rendering much more realistic lighting, all in real-time. Without getting technical, it gives light "volume", allowing it to coat surfaces or reflect off shiny objects more effectively. Perhaps most importantly, it allows light to better fill space, so in these screenshots, for example, you can see how the light filters into the area, creating an incredibly realistic glow.
Now, we're not saying Cyberpunk 2077 is going to look exactly like this on PS5 -- unless the PS5 ends up costing a ridiculous amount of money -- but the detail found in these pictures should give you some idea of what to expect.

I already know I'm buying this twice.
I'd rather have better graphics and lower resolution than higher resolution and worse graphics. Fancy thing like better lighting systems have a far bigger visual impact than jumping up to 4k.
Considering how in bed with Microsoft they are, PS5 Foulsham have all this even if it had the power to do so.
Screenshots are great for wallpapers, but it's when a game is in motion that I really appreciate how great a game looks.
Horizon Zero Dawn is great for that, just running over a hill and seeing an incredible landscape in front of you never got old. Till a surprisingly sneaky Thundrjaw stomps on me.
looks like os4 pro screenshots dog.word up son
@Gumbopudding I agree, I went for the Full HD version of my laptop for the sole reason that 4K is a massive drain without adding as big an impact as volumetric lighting and Ray tracing. Re2 looks incredible with the lighting effects and Hitman 2 also benefits without needing 4K.
Any screens of how it looks with blast processing?
Looks like I’ll be playing this twice in 2020. On my Pro then again on the PS5 if an improved version becomes available.
It’s going to be interesting how studios handle the generation switch. Will they be super consumer friendly and offer a patch to the PS4 game that ups the settings or will we be getting ‘remasters’ again?
@BearsEatBeets ...and there is the white elephant in the room...
@BearsEatBeets I've been wondering that myself...from the technical side of things, I'm sure it would be no problem to also unlock the PS5 version of the game as soon as it becomes available, when you originally bought the PS4 version on the PSN store...much like getting multiple versions for cross buy titles for Vita/PS4.
I'm guessing that whether Sony will charge us twice will also strongly depend on how MS will handle the matter. Microsoft has been very user friendly when it comes to Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. If you bought the game already on the 360, you can just re-download it on the One or pop in the original disk and are good to go. No paying twice.
If they keep that up, Sony will have to follow to avoid a PR nightmare.
Not knowing the answer will make me reluctant to buy games for the PS4 at some point, because in most cases I'd rather wait for the PS5 version of a cross gen title, rather than playing the inferior PS4 version.
That said, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding and The Last of Us 2 are games I'd buy twice if I had to, because I absolutely want to play them day one.
I'll be buying this 3 times. The PS4 version, PS5 version and then for the Vita 2.
@Splat according to ps5's compatibility pitch, shouldn't the PS4 version be enough to purchase and once you play on a ps5 you just install a patch and texture pack.
The ps5 should be the end of purchasing remasters.
In my opinion, there will be a ps4 version and a ps5 version. The ps4 version will probably be updated on the ps5. But the ps5 version will be an enchanced beast of a version even further...
I'll probably stick to playing it on my PC but if PS5 surpasses my PC's power, I will consider playing it on PS5. I preordered the ps4 collector's edition.
.......Which will only really look good if it runs smoothly at at least 60fps.
@tameshiyaku I still think that the developer has too do it.
