Codemasters has just revealed its latest racing game, titled GRID. It's coming to the PlayStation 4 on 13th September, and you can get your first glimpse of footage in the announcement trailer above, courtesy of IGN.
While it doesn't give away too much, we expect this to be a semi-serious arcade racing game similar to that of Race Driver: GRID and GRID 2 back on the PS3. The trailer ends by announcing a standard version of the game along with an ultimate edition that comes packaged with an expansion pass for three seasons worth of content. This generation hasn't had many particularly great driving titles, so let's hope GRID rounds the year out with something special.

I miss PS2 racing games.. old Burnout, old Gran turismo, old need for speed..

Cool. I quite enjoyed the old GRID games.
Whilst there aren't a 'lot' of driving games, what there are - especially as I own an Xbox (therefore have access to Forza) is more than enough for me. There is just so much driving around tracks that I can actually tolerate before getting bored and wanting something 'different'.
The PS4 still has a LOT of great driving games - whether its more 'sim' like GTSport or Project Cars (both) or more Arcade (Burnout, The Crew), whether you want F1, Rallying or street racing, there are numerous options available.
It depends on what this offers compared to any racing games I already own as to whether I 'need' this or happily make do with what I already own for the times I want to go 'driving'...
"three seasons worth of content" makes me nervous.
$60 to purchase the game, then $15 for a new track and 3 new cars a month later, then another $15, and another, and another.
Yes yesy yes yessss ... i was hoping to see another semi realistic racer on ps4 soon or even something arcadey, so this will definitely scratch that itch. When i first saw the title i thought it was a remaster of the first grid which would be awesome as well, but a new grid im all in , day 1
I'm definitely a "50%+ off" purchase with this a year later. I thought the first two were okay but not fantastic. Don't think I came close to finishing either. The DS version allowed you to create your own tracks but was a DS game

Race Driver GRID was an awesome game! Keep one eyeball on this one.
I loved the drift events on the first Grid on PS3 so hopefully they make a return

I liked the 1st grid but the rest didn't keep me involved for long and I moved on quite quickly.
As a fan of the series I will be needing to add this one but also codemasters were the kings of racing when I was a teen/early 20's on psone and 2.
Codemasters still hasn't wrecked DiRT or F1 so there's hope.
Looks like fun. I need another decent arcade racer...
