Square Enix has announced that Star Ocean: The Last Hope will arrive on PlayStation 4 next month. The confirmed date follows on from last week's news that a current-gen remaster was in the works. We thought that we might have to wait a while for this one, but nope, it's hitting Sony's system on the 28th November. It'll come with a PS4 theme and a set of avatars, and PlayStation Plus subscribers get 10 per cent off until the 12th December.
The Last Hope is being remastered in full HD and it'll support 4K on PS4 Pro. The original PlayStation 3 release wasn't a bad looking game, so it'll be interesting to see just how well it's held up after all these years. If you want to catch a quick glimpse, we've embedded a few screenshots below.
Will you be picking up Star Ocean: The Last Hope on PS4? Try not to remember the voice acting in the comments section below.

Those eyes still creep me the hell out.
@ShogunRok The 360 ver. didn't even have the anime designs at all, so even the status screens were filled with creepy doll eyes. 2009 sure was a fun time for CGI.
@Cassetticons Oh really? That's weird, didn't know!
Won't say no to more Star Ocean.
day one buy for me, love Star Ocean
@ShogunRok I have a question, so has this been confirmed to be PSN exclusive, or will there also be a physical retail version?
@ToddlerNaruto Looks like it's digital only, same as the remaster of Til the End of Time.
@ShogunRok Thanks for the confirmation!
Digital only no thank you i seem to buy less and from Square-Enix every time. I love bandainamco, Nisa and Iffy more every time the only studio's who release most things retail and there games are even niche games.
Is this game turn based?
Does the remaster make any of the characters likable though
@OutspokenHuman if you want to like the series, I’d recommend the second story on ps1. Not sure if it’s a ps classic or not.
@Cowboysfan-22 Nope, awesome action combat. Say what you want bout the story and the characters but the combat is amazing in this game.
@ZaPaMi3 Ah. Thanks. I’ve been itching for another turn based JRPG but can’t find one that appeals to me. I’ve played the Personas and Trails of Cold Steel games so I was hoping this would be similar. Does anybody have any suggestions on a good turn based game?
@Cowboysfan-22 Battlechasers Nightwar just came out and it's only 29.99. Or get South Park Fractured But Whole and it comes with Stick of Truth. I guess your love for those will depend on if you like SP. I am eight hours in FBW and am absolutely loving it.
@Cowboysfan-22
I cannot recommend Darkest Dungeon enough.
Fantastic game, loads of content, great art style but best of all is the fantastic, turn based combat....its quite a tough game though.
@OutspokenHuman yeah I played one via emulation (and I don’t care about that one because it was unavailable in the us at the time) and I liked both of them! I haven’t played the other ones but I watched videos and it just doesn’t seem to capture the same spirit.
