Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has hinted that we can expect Horizon: Zero Dawn’s first expansion – named The Frozen Wilds – to alter the state of the existing open world: “I understand there are some things happening in the original world as well,” he said. “[There's] a new area that you can go into, but it’s not [just] that new area where things are happening.”
Asked to expand upon what the DLC will include, the affable executive teased that we can expect new machines, weapons, and more. Pre-orders are open for the add-on on the PlayStation Store now, with a release expected later this year.

Pre-ordered last night, can't wait!
Can't see it in the UK store
Sounds interesting and kind of what I expected. It seems like GG are taking the template of Blood and Wine from the Witcher 3. That started as a mission in the 'known' area and gave a reason to go to the new area. It may only have been brief but it at least tied in with the main game. I would like a few more things in and around the known area than Blood and Wine gave us but I know B&W really didn't need to jump back and forth. It was perfectly suited to round off Geralts adventure.
Either way, I can't wait!!
My hypothesis; more climbable stuff.
I didn't play this at launch as I was playing Zelda so I've only just got back to it recently and its such a great game. The side quests haven't gripped me and the voice acting is up and down but we were spoiled by the Witcher in that department. The main story has started to grip me though and the combat with the robot dinosaurs is superb, much better than probably every open world game I've ever played, not to mention how great it looks with flawless performance. I cannot wait to see where they'll take the series when they don't have to rely on the building blocks of others
Not a big fan of pre-ordering but that $5 PS+ discount, $15 instead of $20, is very tempting.

@rjejr Yep did it last night. I couldn't resist more time with Aloy for $15 at all.
Is there a reason why it's available on the US store and not the UK?
@Rooty1985 PlayStation UK are really slow.
Preordered as soon as it went up. Such an amazing game will be happy to go back to that world
Does anyone know if Sony has an interview scheduled with Guerilla today or tomorrow? I'd like to know more.
I've only recently bought the base game. If I enjoy it enough, then I'll be up for getting this DLC.
Absolutely can't wait for this, still goty for me.
This looks amazing I can't wait for this and much more from horizon. This is one two 2 games of the year beside zelda but horizon is much better combat
i platinumed horizon twice, so am more than happy to jump back in.
Can't wait to jump back in!!!!
What a game - 10/10 for me.
I find it odd when people voice disappointment with voice acting when we are not watching an animated film, we are playing an open world adventure - in the context of everything this game does well, it comes across as petulent and irrelevant....
For those of you who maintain the voice acting is a disappointment, there's probably a job going at IGN for "the bitter haters in the gaming community" 😝
As for the expansion - sold. The gameplay alone deserves the bucks, but I was torn, thinking whilst taking down a Snapmaw in slo-mo "aargh what horrific voice acting" 😂
I'm looking forward to this, HZD is one of my games of this year so far along with P5. As for the voice acting, I thought it was fine. Not once did it spoil the game for me, even that side quest that was doing the rounds just before release.
Trying to avoid spoilers as I went into the main game with practically no info on story, characters, setting etc (only knew it was about hunting machines) and ended up absolutely loving it.
That said, I am really curious as to when this DLC will be set. Aloy's story already seems pretty complete to me so it'll definitely be interesting to see where they take it next.
