Ahead of the full reveal that's due this Friday, Ubisoft has released the first bit of key art for Far Cry 5. Your humble hosts predicted that this latest instalment would be about creepy religious cults in the American wilderness, and judging by this image, we're spot on.
In the picture, some sort of reverend is sitting at a table with various dodgy looking characters. There are numerous examples of religious symbolism at work here, including the on-the-nose shirtless guy at the front with "SINNER" etched into his back. There's a modern bow sitting in the pile of weapons to the bottom right as well, which proves that the weapon hasn't lost its cool factor just yet.
Has this art piqued your interest in Far Cry 5? Don't stray too far in the comments section below.

This looks crazy
Would rather Far Cry Walking Dead, if its action adventure I'll pass, more RPG please.
The setting is interesting, and a lot closer to home than many games like this tend to get. I'll be curious to see more, but it looks like the character designs are sufficiently extreme and anti-government. I'll be curious to see what the plot entails, but I think we know what the gameplay will look like.
MURICA!!!
This looks so cool and is going to cause so much controversy.
Whats the bets that Nolan North or Troy Baker is playing the villain?
Looking good. Very intrigued to see more.
So there will be old fighter planes in this too?
@Worlock_ed High.
Phew, I can see this causing some 'net fights!
So crazy cult kidnaps group of kids and declares them sinners, with them running through the wildernesss climbing towers and becoming one with some mystical power (In this case God himself no doubt) to free the region from said religious cult and their domination, restoring the true balance to the area.
Sounds like a mix of Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4.
Only in Montana.
....Delicious.
Can there also be an option to throw love at the sinner too! Not a single bullet sprayed but instead a cup of tea and biscuits lol, and a good supportive ear. Will this come out on switch?
So based on the flag, it's either alternative history or a new civil war. Either one i'm fine with. Just give me another lovable villain, my bow, and my high powered sniper so I can ghost all the plantations
Jonestown comes to mind...
Ugh...
I need to look into this game again
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi lol Star Ocean P5 For ya
Same game play (2,3,4,and now look at this:5 )
Same story: a crazy man want's to kill some one else
Same level desine: find some thing ,kill some one , loot
Why they do it like this? I just don't get it
They made 7 number of this franchise that is not enough?!
And you just see same things on this 7 numbers
Who can forget primal: a game with a same map of farcry4 but 60$ price
Meeh
@pbernoos It sells thats why. FIFA every year the same costume and name updates. COD the same only a new story. But i did not see any gameplay or anything else you did i guess?
All I see are some good, god-fearin' patriots taking full advantage of their second amendment rights.
By the way, really cool that the cast of Duck Dynasty will apparently figure so prominently in this game's plot.
A couple of these characters seem to bear resemble to WWE superstars - Daniel Bryan, Erick Rowan, maybe even Heath Seater...
#controversy
I'm all in!
IN
So this is the third Far Cry game this gen, but not a word about Splinter Cell. I like open world games but I'm getting pretty bored of the Ubisoft template. I'd like to see a sequel to SC: Blacklist which had a lot to do but didn't go overboard with certain things and Far Cry needs a break.
@Splat
There's nothing that should be controversial though. The problem is, since 2012 especially, people have been taking video games far, far too seriously rather than just for fun escapism.
@Flaming_Kaiser why they should change game play? I mean you're right , we did not saw any thing , but as you said COD , AC ,fifa and ...
All of them has same game play
So this one will be like them too
See you after E3 show 😀
These are supposed to be red necks but they look more like they're from san francisco I mean the man bun...
@get2sammyb I'm so excited for the controversy. We need some light shed on cults not too dissimilar from these.
