If you've been on a break from your adventures in Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn, then you may be interested in knowing that the MMO is currently offering a free play period. In other words, you don't need an active subscription in order to log in and enjoy the world of Eorzea.
Lasting until the 4th January, the offer applies to those who already have an account, but haven't played in at least 30 days. There is a slight catch, though, in that once you log back in, you'll only be able to play over the course of the next four consecutive days. Once those days are up, you'll need an active subscription like everyone else.
Still, diving back into the game over the holidays with a couple of friends - even if it's just for a few hours - might sound like a good idea to some of you. Will you be taking advantage of this? Show your temptation in the comments section below.

Need to finish XV quickly, so I can get back to XIV.
I'm slightly tempted, but then I remember the overabudance of cutscenes and running back and forth just talking to people with little to no action.

Fantastic MMO, but just don't have time for one anymore, sadly. Really wish I did though! So while this is tempting it's ultimately only going to get in the way of me playing other things.
Was excited when I read the headline then that evaporated when I realised it was only for 4 days. I like the game but not a big fan of the subscription model especially when you are also paying for the expansions as well. Will play it but will stick with ESO
I really liked FFXIV while I was playing it, but I just couldn't justify paying for it, and dedicating so much spare time to it, when there were so many other things to play. I kinda want to go back. But I daren't do it.
I was interested until the "Four consecutive days" part. Then I'm out.
I wish they'd stop with these weird time limits rather than just a set window. It's going to take at least a day to install or patch for most people since the PSN/SE hosting for the patches is so slow for a lot of people. As much as I'd love to try the new content, I don't feel like dealing with the launcher again.

they should've just made it free thru Christmas. would have probably gotten more sales that way.
It's an awesome MMO. But won't go back because I don't intend to subscribe and thus my invested time and energy is a waste. Even if it would be lo get than 4d I'd still feel the same. If the subscription would be lifted I surely would hop in and out every now and then. And my backlog is another reason why I avoid the game.
