Who says we don't write about The King of Fighters here? Everyone in this thread for starters. Here's news that should sate the vocal minority, though: The King of Fighters 2000 is coming to the PlayStation 4 as an enhanced PlayStation 2 classic next week – well, in North America at least. These re-releases have generally launched simultaneously in Europe too, so look out for it.
Because we know exactly nothing about this game – Terry Bogard better be in it! – we're going to lazily copy and paste its description from the PlayStation Blog: "The King of Fighters 2000 brings back the elements that made the success of its prequel KOF '99 a huge success, while making the gameplay more accessible to an even wider audience. Numerous hero characters from SNK's nostalgic franchises join the roster, giving assistance to their team members via the new Active Striker gameplay feature."
Cut us some slack – it is a Bank Holiday, after all.

Good to see SNK doing these.
Now get us Twinkle Star Sprites La Petite Princesse with a platinum trophy!
I don't care that it's been out on Japanese PSN for ages nor that I have it on PS2 as well as digitally on my PS3, bring it over here as well!
That's cool, I had this on PS2 back in the day. It also came with 2001.
@get2sammyb
Who is this vocal minority that you speak of!?
KOF 2000 is pretty excellent, KOF 2001 is regarded as the worst KOF (it was not developed by SNK due to bankruptcy, but by a S. Korean firm),......however for the PS2 version, SNK fixed a lot of the presentation problems (the actual mechanics were still decent in 2001).
I'm curious to see this in 720p.....
I'm honestly hoping for one of the "dream match" games, 98 or 2002, to hit PS4. But I won't complain about this, I've heard 2000 is pretty good.
@DerMeister
I think we will have to wait on the "master" versions of 98 and 2002 on the PS4, in the west at least........SNK wants people to buy and play 14, not a emulated PS2 game for 15 dollars. Which is why they probably picked 2000 to release, it's a good introduction to KOF, but it's not the most sought after version either.
I will cut you some slack when you actually cover KOFXIV, Push Square.
I am pretty sure a lot of people here would be willing to try KOFXIV if they see and read about it.
Where are the PS1 classics? It's taking sony a long time to add classic games on their store (although they brought Okage, so I can't complain too much).
At this rate, even the Wii U's Vc is out performing it, and that's kind of sad.
Wake me up when the real classics arrive.
Why is it the best games on the system are never available? Bet I never see Shadow of the Colossus on PS4, or Lost Odyssey or Tale of Vesperia on X1. Bet I don't see Portal 2 on either.
@sub12 That's true. Though I would still like to have widespread versions of those games. I'll wait as long as I need to!
@JaxonH
I'd argue the PS2 Classics library is pretty good considering they just started it. Some of my favorites are already up there. Same for the Xbox One b/c library. I guess it all depends on taste, but taking personal preference out of it, it's tough to say something like Twisted Metal Black or Dark Cloud isn't a 'true classic' or that Mass Effect on Xbox One, isn't a classic when these are well regarded games.
@Gamer83
It's just never the ones I'm looking forward to. When Nintendo started dropping SNES VC on Wii U they gave us all kinds of classics. But the one I really wanted, DKC trilogy, took years to arrive. It's the same way here. I don't doubt these games are well regarded but, it's just not what I'm interested in. Mass Effect is, but it doesn't excite me like Portal 2 would. That's a game I consider as one of the greatest of all time, not just a great game
And maybe that's what I'm trying to say. There are 1 or 2 games on each system I consider one of the all time greats, and those seem to be the ones always ignored
@JaxonH
Yeah, I have some favorites that get avoided too so I know what your'e saying but still considering both Sony and MS just started up with these initiatives I don't think they're off to bad starts.
@Gamer83
MS is doing decent. Sony... not so much IMO. Dark Souls was added, SSX is coming (thank goodness- no snowboarding games this gen). And best of all they took a vote. And Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey and Portal 2 are in top 5 pages so there's hope yet. Sony though, despite doing a phenomenal job on Vita seems to be releasing these at the rate of Nintendo VC. Idk, Ima give it a year and re-evaluate then.
It's KOF 2000, no 2001.
The game looks very good in 720p,
