Hi peeps, I wonder if you guys could give me a bit of help please? I need a new mobile and I'm undecided as to what to go for. I was thinking of Samsung S7 Edge or the latest Microsoft Lumia (950?). I've had Windows phone for the last 3 or 4 handsets and I like the ease of use I find in them (and that it ties nicely into my Xbox account for the games) but looking in the shop at the weekend the quality of the handset seemed a bit low rent compared to my current one and to the Samsung/iPhone et al. Has anyone got experience of changing from Windows to Android or vice versa or got any other handsets that would be worth looking at? I don't really want to go with iPhone as the prices are through the roof and I couldn't get one of the recent models in my price range.

I used to have Windows Phone, but I couldn't stand the lack of support from developers... I switched to Android and I couldn't be happier. Considering Microsoft supports Android a lot more than Windows Phone, you might actually get an even better connection with your Xbox, but I don't have one so I'm not sure how it works. I have a Moto G3, but my bro has a Moto G4 (Plus if I'm not wrong), both are excellent phones. Personally, I don't see much of a reason to buy the high-end phones, they last as much as mid-end and cost a lot more.

Completely depends on budget. I live in the UK and I prefer to get a SIM only deal and then buy the handset. Microsoft is slowly edging out of the phone market as Windows mobile hasn't really increased though I don't think there is anything wrong with the actual hardware, just a lack of apps.

I have a Oneplus X though I have heard the Oneplus 3 is a very nice phone and at a reasonable price. I agree with @renankj that mid range phones are probably the way to go as the difference in performance can be neglible but the price difference is huge.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@crippyd I've ordered a Sony Xperia XA and moving away from my windows phone. Will let you know how it turns out, I'm not an iphone fan and the last Samsungs in my house (wife's / sons) have ran really slowly within a few weeks. So I've picked the XA.

I will be sad to see my Windows phone go, I've dropped it on the floor like a million times and the screen is pristine, its also relatively quick and hassle free. But recently my WiFi causes crashes more and more often and I can't read pushsquare properley if there's a wrapped advert. So change was inevitable.

@renankj @Rudy_Manchego @themcnoisy thanks for all your replies, after careful consideration (and the fact that my contract was up), I've gone with the Samsung. Android seems similar to Windows but having to do more steps to do the same things. The handset is very good quality (on first impression) and it seems very fast and smooth compared to my old phone, which was 2 year old admittedly. I didn't get to look at the Lumia XL which would have been a choice, as no shops had them on display. I don't think I got a bad deal out of Vodafone, £32 per month for 6gb data, unlimited calls and texts.
