@Praeceps based on what you said in the other thread, I'd go for the slim.

I recently got a Pro a few weeks ago and am enjoying the slight upgrade (still playing on a 1080p screen), but like @kyleforrester87 said you quickly forget the benefits when you're actually playing the games and a game like Horizon for example still looks, runs and plays terrific on any PS4.

If you're not a huge console gamer then it might not be worth getting the most expensive model right out the gate.

You can pick up the slim models often in decent bundles for around the £200 mark now as well which I think is a great deal.

The best advise if you have a 1080p TV or less is to just pickup a Slim bundle, but do go for one with a 1tb hard drive the 500gb clogs up quickly! The pro is great but you do need a 4k TV to benefit and to be honest its really really good, but not worth buying a £500 4k TV for right now if your 1080p TV is running well.

Im pretty much mirroring what the posters above me have said as they are exactly right!

Now with 'Boost Mode', arguably it doesn't matter what TV you have as the games will either look better (4k downsampled), play better (boosted) or a combination of both. Boost mode can improve older games by up to 35%, maybe load faster and suffer less screen tear or pop-ins. Its still going to have 'more' games that run at 60fps - like Infamous and Rise of the Tomb Raider for example - that are 30fps on Slim.

I know its more expensive but arguably better value than the Slim. Its over twice the power, has an extra USB and optical out and more future proof too. Whether all that matters or not to whoever has to face that decision, really only they will know the answer.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

It all depends on what you want and the longevity. In theory, the Pro is the latest hardware so should be supported the longest, and I think it does run games that little bit better, regardless of TV. I also like the design more as well. If you can afford it and game regularly, I think it is worth it.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

You don't need 5k TV to benefit from improved graphic's it look's twice as better as a regular PS4 on a decent 1080p TV I have 2 reg PS4's upstair's for my boy's so I can compare and the difference is obvious for all to see. The noise and heat those 2 regular PS4's make it's a wonder they don't break after a few year's, I would never go back to a regular PS4, simply put they suck in comparison to the Pro. If you want to settle for second best i'd get a regular over a Slim, Slim's were just pointless as well. Really there is a slight humming noise (so quiet) coming from my Pro and I hammer my Pro and that's only sometime's most of the time (like right now) it's silent, you can't even hear it one little bit, but the regular's upstair's you can hear from downstair's it's awful even worse with 2 in one room, sometime's I have to open the window because of the heat.
