Topic: New PSVR owner, question about 3d youtube videos

Hi everyone, please forgive my ignorance on 3d stuff but I am curious about the reason why most of the youtube 3d videos (using youtube psvr mode) look like 2 images on the psvr headset and not a single 3d image. Is it supposed to be like this or it is something I'm doing wrong? Appreciate your help, thanks!

From what I've seen, it mostly looks like many of the 360 degree videos on youtube are recorded with a couple of cameras and then spliced together to make one video. Because of this, it looks like multiple screens because it pretty much is.

A lot of virtual reality videos are 2D and not 3D, unfortunately. You obviously still have the ability to "look" around, but there's no sense of depth to the picture.

I understand what you are referring to, but what I'm seeing are 2 separate images, one for each eye, instead of a 3d one.

@ArtMustel sounds like each image should go on either eye. Its how psvr 3d imaging works. Maybe thats what you need to find out.

I am totally clueless since those "up and down 3d videos won't work either with PSVR. All I see is 2 images...top and bottom, not 3d at all. Now I am so frustrated, if anyone that owns a psvr could chime in ...thanks!

@ArtMustel Im setting my psvr back up on Wednesday. Sorry it will be so far away and I will find the solution and grab a listing of compatible videos. Im on limited time but will try to grab some info then. Keep the thread alive brother!

Incidentally, I received my blu rays of Titanic 3d and Avatar 3d (a set). They both work great! I'm very pleased with the cinematic mode of the psvr, cannot compare it to a 3d TV (which I don't own) but I am very pleased with this.

By the way, when you watch a 3d blu ray on the psvr, no image goes to the tv, only to the helmet. And when I try one of those side by side or top bottom, the split image shows on both tv and psvr, so I am inclined to believe that those kind of youtube videos are not psvr compatible.

@ArtMustel are you running youtube from the app or browser?

I am running youtube from the Playstation youtube app, in VR mode.

By the way, I have no problems with psvr games. Even I can watch 3d blurays perfectly using my ps4 pro and psvr. But I still can't get 3d from youtube sbs or top/down 3d videos.

@ArtMustel have you selected to view the content on psvr. Theres an option near start up.

Yes, when you start youtube you have 2 options, one of them is psvr.
Please tell me.,..are you able to watch these top/bottom viudeos on 3d, using the psvr?

@ArtMustel no I cant get them to work either (the up under ones). Ive just read a reddit thread with a list of videos to try I will post it up now.

@ArtMustel have you got the littlestar app too? Ive just read up on it and I think thats what we are missing.
