Yes, I've tried EVERYTHING (well 90% at the very least - so far no one has been able to help)
The moment there is any power source, it immediately switches on (without touching the PS3, it just activates and straight up loads itself to the home screen)
When I hold down the power button for 10 seconds or so, it beeps once and then "resets" immediately. It won't turn off at all.
The first time I encountered it, I was so frustrated, I left it alone for about 2 hours. Smoke started filling the room, but thankfully I was around so I pulled out the power. The machine still seems to be working normally though (excluding the stupid issue)
So literally the only way to switch it off is to "risk permanent damage" by just straight up switching off the power source while the machine is running. Which is damn frustrating.
In summary it's like as long as the machine has power, it refuses to go into any form of "sleep mode". Nothing I do will change the power light from "green" to "red". It might turn red for a second, but ultimately turn back to green.
And Google is useless because 95% of the "My PS3 Won't Turn Off" questions have the same "just hold the power button for 10 seconds" answer.
