In a dusty cupboard I found my PS4, its been a couple of years though and the email it is registered to no longer works.

Thanks Plusnet you bunch of Turd-herders.

There isn't an online password reset without that email address so I am looking for any other routes, maybe even speak to a real person about a reset, I have transaction history to authenticate if required.

However, there are messages about PS4 services being thinned out and I want to do the right thing

1 ) get my PS4 linked to my active email
2 ) Buy a PS5
3 ) Wait for a PS6 and start all over
4 ) Just buy an X-box and hurl the PS4 in the box with the red-light PS3's
6) Start going outside more often

@ZingerTower
It should be quite easy to set up a new account linked to your current email, though I'm not sure whether you would lose access to your previously purchased games or not I would think you would definitely lose all trophy progress but hey - new year, new start maybe?

If you need to change your previous account t to your new email you may have to get in touch with Sony helpline or online help. There must be a solution as you won't be the first person to have this issue but the helpline would certainly know more than I do.

PS5s were going fairly cheap in recent sales so you could do a factory reset on your PS4 and sell it trade in to put towards the cost of a new machine.A PS5 would give you access to a world of games from current and previous generation with loads available at budget prices nowadays. I wouldn't advise waiting for PS6 as who knows when that will be out of what the cost may be.

I very much would not recommend getting an XBox because... ewww.

You probably should go outside more often. But then so should I do there's that.

Hope you resolve your situation as painlessly as possible.
