Re: Some PS5 Digital Editions Are Shipping with Blu-ray Drives

My only concern about this would be proof-of-purchase needed for warranty claims, when you go to show Sony your receipt (if you have any need to file a claim under your limited warranty) it is going to be for a Disc-less console and they most likely won't honor the warranty. I would be contacting PS Direct and ask about how to handle the situation. Maybe they can send a receipt for the disc version.

@tinCAT-zero Amen! I'm really happy I never got a Wii-U, because all those Wii-U ports on the Switch were first time purchases for me. I think all developers need to do something like this. If Super Mario64 ever makes it to the Switch, I shouldn't have to purchase it again in another format for the 3rd or 4th time.

@FullbringIchigo but why would you waste additional money to purchase a Series X/PS5 version of the game? If the developer is saying that the PS4 versions of their games would be upgraded for free to the PS5 version. You purchase the PS4 version of the game, you play on your PS4. When you get your PS5, you do whatever it is you have to with EA to upgrade that title to a PS5 version, that takes advantage of the new systems additional resources, there is no point in purchasing the "Series X/PS5" version of the game if they are upgrading them to the new hardware for free.

@tinCAT-zero Nintendo has re-released a good majority of their Wii-U catalog on the switch, for roughly the same price as they were when they release originally on the Wii-U! What I read this article to mean, is that EA will allow you to upgrade your PS4 title to a PS5 title at no added cost. Whereas, Nintendo, if you bought, for instance, Super Mario Bro's U on the Wii U for 59.99 and then again on the Switch, you paid another $59.99 - again. So $120.00 for the game on both systems. That is not supposed to be the case with EA PS4 titles on the PS5.
