@Demi_God good points, but i'll add to it 4. Sony releases Uncharted 4 on the same day, completely decimating Tomb Raiders sales. (+someone who owns both consoles would generally buy UC4 over TR).
As an Aussie I find the "draconian import and classification laws" stuff pretty offensive and very uninformed. The ratings system has been fixed for over a year now, and the importation of games has never been an issue.
It's more likely someone at Konami screwed up. Plus other reports indicate the XB1 version is the hold up, and Konami decided to postpone ALL other sku's. We will more than likely get the digital version on time.
Plus more sales for the infinitely better inFamous second son... blessing in disguise
@Gamer83 Sony is not doing anything wrong with the PS4 supply, there is such a thing as worldwide you know. While MS only caters to the US (by diverting the majority of its stock), Sony is getting worldwide mindshare by fairly distributing stock to all the release countries. In the long run this tactic will have Sony dominating worldwide figures. Take into account that Sony is manufacturing in 2 countries Japan/China, so is producing more consoles than MS, but still can't keep up with demand.
EA and Ubisoft are the biggest culprits at charging 20%+ more than retail. Sony's first party games are pretty much inline with retail. EA and Ubisoft and others are pretty nearsighted with their policies. The profit they would earn with price parity with retail - saving on packaging etc. is a missed opportunity.
I got mine today. Small suburban JB Hifi store and they had a surprising amount stacked up behind the counter - 100+. I don't know if they were all pre-orders or not, but I went back to the same store 3 hours later and they only had a half dozen uncollected (at that time) left - presumedly pre-orders of people who didn't have the day off of work. PS4 is going to be huge, just hope Sony can keep up with demand and capitalise on the love they are deservedly getting.
I would like to point out that the 1 million consoles quoted are just for the first day, so in all likelihood the total number for the weekend, when including the whole first shipment allocation for NA (which is no doubt sold out everywhere) is substantially higher.
@get2sammyb thought the tip would help. I had been reading about this on other sites, but no-one mentioned the 3.5mm connection (it was my first comment on the site, been reading for years).
If you have the Pulse Elite headset it will work as long as you use the 3.5mm headphone cable that shipped with them. Plug it into the earpieces and the dualshock4 3.5mm input. You will get game audio as well as chat. In this mode you won't get surround sound though, just stereo. This workaround will keep me happy until the patch arrives.

Re: Aussie Gamers Will Have to Wait an Extra Week for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Doesn't make any of his statement right, or in anyway good journalism. He should know/research his countries classification laws.

"Dunno what's with the stories reporting Hohokum slipped from Japanese PS4 release: was never a date we were targeting. A misunderstanding?"

Re: PS4 Smashes Canadian Launch Sales Records
I was assuming the 1 million quoted was for all the already spoken for preorders.
