Re: Japan's PS4 Games Lineup Is Absolutely Ridiculous

feelthesarcasm

@Cowboysfan-22

I think they'll need a bundle since there's a PS3 version. They'll need to give people a reason to upgrade. The latest Japanese poll of most wanted games had the PS3 version higher (though not by much).

Type-0 is a bit of a toss up. Unlike the West they have played this game before. However the FFXV demo will definitely encourage some rebuys.

Re: Picking Up a PS4 Soon? You Could Also Get a Free PlayStation TV

@themcnoisy
People who want to play select Vita games but don't want to spend the $200 on a Vita more likely. And people who want to game in multiple rooms without moving their PS4 back and forth ala remote play.

Amazon US just had a lightening deal that had the PSTV for $39.99 so it was impossible to pass up. Picked up P4G, Tales of Hearts R and Danganronpa. I don't own a Vita and don't really want one enough to buy it (I have a 3DS and decent backlog) and I'm currently in-between gens (Own a PS3 but not really playing anything on it anymore. Waiting probably for Persona 5 to get a PS4) so it was a nice deal and I get to play the games that interested me most on Vita.

Unfortunate this game didn't pan out. I have't followed much news about it recently but I'm actually surprised by the amount of QTE. It sounds a lot more like Until Dawn or Heavy Rain than what I thought it was suppose to be.

Re: Sony Wants to Win Nintendo Wii Owners with the PlayStation 4

feelthesarcasm

From what we've seen so far I don't see how it will work. The PS4 would have to get a lot more diverse for this to happen.

There would need to be platformers and more adventure games besides LBP, Lego and indies. Something that can make up for the lack of Mario, Zelda, Kirby.

While Sony has been expanding into the RPG market, they're usually the very niche titles like Artelier. Nintendo platforms haven't gotten a real final fantasy in awhile so they moved onto Dragon Quest and MMO's like Monster Hunter. The latest tales of game is PS3. The only big name coming as of right now is Kingdom Hearts

There's little to no casual games like Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and Rune Factory. And PS Move isn't implemented nearly enough.

Personally, I have a 3DS and PS3 (I will be getting a PS4 by next year). I didn't really care for motion controls which is why I never got a wii but I'm more drawn to the games nintendo platforms get. I'm not very good at FPS or Action/Survival games. To me the Vita lineup would attract Wii owners more than the current PS4 one. I've been fighting the urge to double dip in the handheld department and get a Vita.

Re: Talking Point: What Does E3 2014 Tell Us About the Future of the PlayStation Vita?

feelthesarcasm

I prefer handheld gaming and my console is secondary right now but even with that in mind, I'd only get a Vita if I didn't have another sony system. Marketing is part of the problem but another one is exclusives. It doesn't have to be AAA games but it should be games I can't already get on my PS3. Are some games better suited for handheld? Of course, but that's not enough to make me spend as much as they want for a Vita and memory card.

Out of the next 14 games listed on Amazon for release, 10 are 3DS exclusives.

Out of the next 15 games listed on Amazon for release, 5 are Vita exclusives.

Back to marketing though, not only does Sony not market the Vita enough, but they really only market it to PS owners. As if the only people who should get a Vita are people who have a PS3 or PS4. They don't have many options for a casual gamer or those games that everyone, including hardcore gamers can enjoy (like LBP and Smash Bros for example).

Re: E3 2014: How Does the PS Vita's Lineup Look?

feelthesarcasm

@rjejr I'm really glad you brought this up. When I was watching the conference I was like "wait...wasn't it called vita tv?"

Once again Sony decided to throw the vita backstage somewhere instead of giving it any kind of spotlight. At least have some event that will highlight vita games even if it's separate from the main conference. Have a little digital event or something just for the Vita lineup like Nintendo did. They continued making Vita look like an accessory for the PS4 instead of treating it like it's own system. Figuring owners will just stream PS4 games instead of purchasing single games for it.

Re: E3 2014: LittleBigPlanet 3 May Not Strictly Be Exclusive to PS4

feelthesarcasm

It makes sense since this game was probably in development before the PS4 was released and it would only give 5 months for people to adopt, which wouldn't go well.

My 9 year old nephew loves LBP and he still has a PS3 so it'll be great for him. I want a PS4 but with all of the great RPGs that are still coming out on PS3 (Tales of overload), I don't really see a reason to upgrade yet and E3 didn't help with all of the zombie/horror games I'm not interested in.

Re: Talking Point: Why Is Sony Saving Its PS4 Reveals Until the Last Minute?

feelthesarcasm

I don't mind a game still being 6-9 months away from being released. But I hate when they announce a game they know will excite people and just show up with a 1 minute trailer (I'm looking at you Uncharted)

The KH3 reveal last year blew people minds, but once we saw the "now in development" it was like UGH this is prob 3 years away. Same thing once again with Square Enix. Why announce Tomb Raider now when it doesn't come out until Next holiday? You could have announced it in Jan or at next year's E3. You can tell by the roar of the crowd that no one was expecting LBP to come out in 5 months. I was expecting it wouldn't be until March or April.

Mainly the issue is they announce these games, show a trailer and then you don't hear another thing about it for at least a year. As someone else mentioned, games where you can have regular updates and surprises like Pokemon or Smash Bros, letting the hype build is good. And I guess Square Enix is trying to do that with KH with the HD collections, giving people a chance who never played the original to catch up on the story, but it loses it's appeal if the game is still 2-3 years AFTER the collection.

I'd rather not get any info or announcement on a game until they actually have gameplay to show and it's near completion.

Re: Reaction: Poor Pacing Disrupts Otherwise Excellent PS4 Press Conference

feelthesarcasm

The execution of the LBP 3 reveal disappointed me. I felt like they should have revealed the trailer for the crowd to get hype about and then jumped into gameplay, especially since it was one of the only games they presented not previously announced. It was odd watching the gameplay and then later seeing the full trailer. The crowd was like "WHAT WHOA" When the banner just popped up on the screen with people on stage ready to demostrate.

I liked the press conference but nothing personally interested me. And something about the organization of it was off. It seemed like almost every game was survival/horror and aside from the mention of PS TV the Vita and PS3 were totally ignored. Which makes no sense when there's still a lot of good exclusives coming to those systems.

Everyone needs to remember you not liking the games doesn't mean the conference itself was bad.

Re: Opinion: EA Found Its Call of Duty Killer, and Committed a Titanic Mistake

feelthesarcasm

I don't think this game threatens call of duty at all. It'll just be yet another yearly FPS and that's about it.

As someone mentioned before, people that play FPS don't just play any game with a multiplayer and a gun. Why do you think there are online wars between BF, COD and Halo? Because they're not the same audience. They are three very different groups of FPS gamers

Most of the people that I know wouldn't touch a FPS that included any kind of futuristic/alien/machine combat no matter how fantastic the game is. One of the reasons that Ghosts was criticized was because it took out Ground War which had 18 players. Most COD fans wouldn't settle for only 6 players or AI's in multiplayer.

As far as the lack of campaign, that's just silly. At a game priced maybe $39.99 it would work but not for $60. There are some people who don't play multiplayer and those people are entirely shut out now. Even if the campaign is never the focus of these games, most people still play them at some point. How do you get introduced to the interface without a campaign?

Re: Wait, Sony Has No Plans for a PlayStation 4 and Vita Bundle?

feelthesarcasm

I understand the position. If you start boxing the vita with the PS4, it looks more like an accessory instead of it's own individual system (think of Wii U + gamepad) If consumers see the PS4/Vita bundled together all the time, they might turn off potential Vita buyers. Let's say someone's shopping for a new console, but they don't want the PS4, they might write off the Vita all together figuring they go hand in hand.

I think it'd be okay for limited editions for a big crossplay release title maybe but it shouldn't be permanently available.

Re: Weirdness: This PS4 Owner Managed to Get a 21 Year PS Plus Subscription for Free

feelthesarcasm

It's a shame that his need to brag about it to a gaming site was more important than getting the free PS Plus. I mean really, WHY WOULD YOU TELL ANYONE? He probably won't have it anymore and the company may block his account from ever receiving another PS Plus subscription all because the guy couldn't keep his mouth shut and just enjoy his 21 years. Sigh, some people just want 15 minutes of fame for anything.
