@LiamCroft Just have a third link to the Ireland store, prices in EUR, applies to all EUR countries - no need to link each individual country as its the same prices.
@Quintumply I think this is a good article, based on the extent of the conversation in the comments section. I moved from PS1 in my late 20s to PSP to PS4 one year year ago, with a huge gap in between... never touched a PS2 or PS3 console or controller. I've had no particular issues when getting back into gaming after 15+ years but that's probably because of muscle memory. Why do we have to invert the Y axis though, should inverted not be standard or is that just me? The main issue I have is in games like Final Fantasy, where I get too far into it too quickly without levelling up enough. Then I Google the bosses I find impossible and think that I wished I knew about stealing items at the start, or mixing stuff together. I like these Soapbox articles, keep them up!!
I'd be made up if it was Nier Automata. It seems to be relatively difficult to get a physical copy of the game, so if I had to get digital, a PAH copy would be great.
Wow, I got one today from Smyth's (Ireland). Tbh I hadn't been trying hard and thought I'd just wait until whenever, but got a tweet saying GS were dropping, joined the queue wile working this morning and then saw another tweet about Smyth's dropping, went onto their site and picked it up straight away... Pure blind, dumb, luck!
Haven't played a golf game since the PSP, I think it was Everybody's Golf and I loved it - so I must invest in a golf game again. Generally they seem easy to pick up and play.
Currently I mainly play single player story games, so don't have time or inclination to replay. I'm currently playing Witcher 3 and certainly see the potential to replay, if I ever had lots of free time. Same with TLOU on another difficulty level. Tangentially, I'd love to play old PS1 games that I've played and been have since been redone, like RE 1, 2 and 3.. and I plan to do so!
I've only ever played ff7, on PS1, last summer. It was sitting in a bag with my console in the attic for about 20 years! I absolutely loved it and it got me back to gaming - one positive of the pandemic. I still have ff9 for the PS1 in the same bag. I see you can get all the games now on PS4 so I'm tempted. I'm definitely getting FF7R at some stage. It looks like 8,9,10 and 12 are the ones worth getting, by general consensus, would that be right?
This is exactly the type of article I was hoping for and trying (and failing) to articulate in the recent request for feedback. Nice. And I turned out to be predictable in voting for the big 2, Disco & Kena
Firstly, love this site, it's my daily go to. As a born again gamer from the PS1 era I'm not madly interested in PS5 articles right now, but understand there's a readership for it. Similar to previous suggestions, I like the stuff about older or retro gaming, even relatively recently, and the quirky stuff, and the soapbox pieces. I get the impression that a lot of the regular audience here is pretty laid back and possibly have come through a few gens of gaming, so anything to cater for that crowd is great. Keep up the good work!
@ShogunRok This is me. Bought my ps4 in August, played every day, even for a short stint, and have built up a massive backlog of games purchased already. I jumped from PS1 to PSP to Wii with the kids to PS4 and I'm blown away by PS4 and the games catalogue. The PS Store sales are great for people like me, picking up older games for EU9.99 or less. Currently playing Uncharted 3, finishing the remastered collection, next is GOW3. I'm playing these because I really want to play Uncharted 4 and God of War, but wanted to get some history...
Just finished TR definitive edition last night and really liked it. I played the original games on PS1 back in the day but none since then - I skipped from PS1 to PS4 due to living life The presentation and graphics are great, normally I try to just finish games and would never consider myself a completionist, but i found it was was fun getting all the artifacts, documents etc.and probably added 10 hours doing all that. It's nice to back to classic characters and see how they work in modern games.
Hi all, first post. I'm one of the growing band of 50+ gamers, just got back into it this year during lockdown. I was a PS1 player back in the day, and also had a PSP. I can identify with this article, it's a big change from the pioneering times. I only played FF7 for the first time on my old PS1 during the summer...and loved it! Probably the most fun I had playing a game. So I bought a PS4 in August with Death Stranding and Spiderman, both great. Im working my way through older games now like Uncharted, TLOU remastered, Tomb Raider. I'll never buy a game on release, though I was tempted to get FF7 remake. I'm not going to get a PS5 for a good while - not exactly an Early Adopter My first port of call when getting "back in the game" was the list on this great site for Top Single Player Story Games - thanks guys! Anyway, my take is that there seem to be so many top games in existence now, all easily available as we can get virtual copies, that you can pick and choose from your favourite genre and be sure of quality game time. No rush to get the latest shiny bauble.
