Desperately missing the influence of Shawn Layden and Shuehi Yoshida. PS5 mid-gen is the worst thus far. SP2 still looks like a PS4 game. I hate to be critical, but after 2 years they should have blown the doors open. I expect more frequent State of Plays and Showcase's this year but my PS5 will continue to collect dust for now.
This will divide FF fans for sure. Peppered QTEs and button mashing? I hope the game does well but I don't like the strong western influences I keep hearing of. I will temper my expectations for now.
@pharos_haven didn't the PS3 version have the Obsidian suit? The deluxe edition of the remake has an incredibly similar suit called the Sancitified Suit.
The Last Guardian was fantastic considering it's troubled development. I didn't find the controls as tank-y as most people did and I adored the soundtrack and story. I truly hope for a 60fps patch one day. Yes I can play it unpatched but I'd be missing out on bug fixes.
Looking forward to what comes next. Hopefully no weird Epic stuff tacked on..
Why have games gone down the route of movies where they slap a filter over everything? Everything looks darker and blue-y in this remake. Side by side comparisons show a big change in lighting and art direction. Bill's Town had this wonderful summer evening colour palette to it and now its completely missing. Backdrops look dim. I'll stick to the remaster until this is drastically reduced. Would rather they patched the PS4 version to unlock the framerate on resolution mode and patched Part 2 to have haptics and triggers. What a let down.
I can't see this doing well sales-wise which makes me afraid any potential first party remakes will be canned ahem Bloodborne.
@huyi maybe I could have structured my wording a bit better but please read my comment again. The game isn't toxic(?). It has a learning curve that requires patience and some repetition. As I said, I was close to deleting it out of pure rage myself before it finally 'clicked'. After almost 40hrs of play I'm still learning and experimenting.
Again, I truly hope the devs support their game over the next couple of years with content and refinement.
From being on the brink of deleting the game on the second level to getting all endings and being two trophies away from a plat I can certainly say it's one of my favourite games of the past few years and an early GOTY contender for me. The gameplay loop is extremely satisfying once you know what you're doing.
Yes the graphics may not be amazing but the art style is gorgeous and the soundtrack was stellar. The story and ending left a lot to be desired but I didn't make my purchase for Naughty Dog levels of storytelling. It was a bit short and as some said, parts of levels felt a bit hollow.
The foundations have been laid for this game to get post-release support. With patches to refine the gameplay further coupled with DLC, I can see Sifu growing and gaining a bigger fan base over the next couple of years- evolving from what it was at launch. I really hope this is the case as it would be a bug waste of opportunity to leave it as it is after a few hotfixes
Immediately after the update I've encountered coil whine. Not the quiet kind either. Pissed.
EDIT: Turned it off. Let it cool down. Unplugged. Took the chassis off and removed the little dust that was there. 9hrs of Ghost of Tsushima later and it's as quiet as always. Phew!
