I wonder what will be in Vol 2? Maybe a portable-focused pack? That could be Ghost Bable/MGS-GBC, Portable Ops, Portable Ops +, Peace Walker, and that's it? Maybe the two Ac!d games as well? If they include 4 there would just be Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain, and Survive left. Rising maybe? I guess they could include Rising in Vol 2, then if possible include 4 alongside GZ, V, and Survive. Then again they look to be going in order. All bets are kind of off. Also it's Konami, so they could also bungle it.
I'm still very skeptical they'd include 4. From reading technical articles both at the time and alongside the development of PS3 emulation MGS4 was crafted directly around the PS3 to the extent that there are features of the PS3 OS that only MGS4 uses.
I'm also not 100% sure I'm down to play MGS4 again lol. I played and loved it the first time but I'm not sure I'm down for its specific blend of Kojima-ness anymore.
I mean, yeah of course they're going to make games Xbox exclusive. Why else would they bother? They're buying a game publisher and stable of developers to get the games. This isn't rocket science. Sure keep CoD multiplat, because i doubt CoD sells systems anymore, but future Bethesda games will no doubt be Xbox exclusive.
This is like when your power company or internet provider changes up how you're billed for their service. They're for sure not doing it so that you pay them less.
FF16 is in a class of game that I don't really value review scores for. Yeah it's "good", it's going to be a 10/10 for someone, somewhere. The rub lies in seeing if that someone is me or not. Just like TotK is a 10/10 for a lot of people, it's a foregone conclusion that media outlets are going to praise it. But that doesn't mean your/my 10/10 lines up with their 10/10.
I feel as though reviews for AAAA games are almost useless, because they very seldom get anything but near-perfect scores and those that don't get those scores are usually still 10/10 games to someone, it just happened to not be the reviewer.
I guess I'm not really sure where I'm going with it other than that my reaction to "FF16 gets near perfect score" is "well, yeah. doesn't say much". In an idea situation you'd have people who love different types of games all review a game with a range of scores so that you can tell what type of person enjoyed the game, but that'd require outlets paying a whole panel of people to play and review a game, and it would involve giving "golden" games like FF16 low scores if they just weren't your thing. Considering how much the internet recoils when you dare to give a game it likes a low score I guess it's just not realistic.
It's a shame they're going to match solo players with duos and trios. It feels horrible to get smashed in that scenario and the only reason tarkov gets away with it is because the whole game is designed in such a player-hostile way on purpose to a stubborn degree. General console players are not going to accept "just get good" when they get matched into games as a solo player where there are trios just farming people.
At this point the PS4 is the best gaming investment of all time. If you bought a PS4 on release day in 2013 you are still getting new AAA games for your nearly ten year old console, and it doesn't actually look to be slowing down at all. New Street Fighter, RE4 remake, Both Horizon games, both God of War games. New Diablo. And still many more coming.
With how everything is going the PS5 is going to end up having been the PS4 Pro 2. If Sony does announce a PS5 Pro it will be a huge joke because games are still coming out for the PS4. We're apparently nowhere even near the end of the transition period between last gen and this one.
It doesn't really seem that confusing to me. I'm not sure there needed to be a whole article mocking their attempt to explain.
In Japan it's 8 because it's a long series and there's no divide in old and new fans there. There's no subtitle because they don't feel it needs one.
In the West there are a lot of fans who started with Like a Dragon, so to avoid a Final Fantasy 3/6 situation they're going with another subtitle instead of a number. Going without a subtitle or adding a 2 or 8 would cause confusion.
It's a very Japanese game made by Japanese people who are trying to communicate and include their western fans directly. There's both a language and cultural barrier they're going to cross. It's really not that complex and surely isn't worth trying to make fun of.
While I can't deny that Game Pass is a great offering, I'm not really miffed about waiting for big first party games. I already have so much to play that I don't get most new games on release anyway, and despite having had Game Pass on and off both on PC and Xbox Series S I haven't really used the service to play many day-1 games. If the model is working for them then stick with it.
Premium just doesn't seem worth it. I know that it's not that much more than Extra, but what am I really getting for it? Despite Sony trying really hard to convince everyone otherwise the streaming just doesn't work that well. Not as well as Xbox Cloud, GeForce Now, or Stadia (RIP), and the catalog of "classics" is so thin. The only way I would consider Premium is as a one-month upgrade here or there to play any particular games that are on it.
I think this two-tier setup is just devaluing the whole offering and giving people confusion and room for displeasure. They should just consolidate all of it in two tiers, I think. As in PS Plus Base and PS Plus Premium.
Maybe it's different for newer players who haven't had the chance to play all the classics games over and over both on the original systems and as downloadables on the PS3/Vita.
We Armored Core fans have been hungry so long. Day one purchase. I don't even care if it's good or not. I haven't had a way to support more AC games with my wallet in so long.
I hope the mission count and structure is more like the PS2 games.
It was a little too cinematic for me. A lot of the gameplay felt kind of fake. The segment where you're shooting fireballs as the bird just dragged on and on with zero stakes because the sequence is going to last the same if I play well or not. The boss fights felt like I was just playing until the game had shown me the special animations it wanted me to see. You and your team are just wailing on the boss and the health is just barely moving. It felt more like I was just expected to stagger a set number of times.
Modern final fantasy is full of this kind of "just watch" stuff. This may just be because it's the demo and you're on rails with a set power level, though. I'll probably still get the game on release. The combat against the lesser enemies was good.
Waste of time. I knew it was going to be all padding once they spent like 5 minutes explaining what Ghost Trick was. The game is 13 years old. We get it.

How many times are you all going to use this weird 16/Agni's Philosophy image? It's misleading and confusing.

Still buying it 100% tho.

Soapbox over. tl;dr: "yeah ff16 good of course".
