The Witcher 4 Announced Starring Ciri

I have wanted this ever since the Witcher 3

Thank God it's Siri.... However I do have a few suggestions - don't bring in any more characters from last time...not one was the least bit likeable...and clean the UI...W3's being cluttered is an understatement....Aside from that - Damn good first trailer 🙂

What a way to start the show. So freaking happy Ciri is the lead and goddamn that trailer was hype and even nicely called back to "Killing Monsters".

I wasn't sold on the idea of Ciri being the main character at all, but this trailer's changed my mind. An older, clearly much more jaded Ciri is just what we needed. Following in her adoptive dad's footsteps.

@DennisReynolds we'll agree to disagree on that one...With the exception of Siri - there wasn't a single one I didn't want to punch repeatedly 🙄🙂

Must admit I really didn't think they were going to go with Ciri as the player character. Great trailer though and will eager to see how it plays out.

Looks like they are going to ignore 2 of the possible endings to 3 though.

What an incredible trailer. Hype is through the roof but I’m sure the wait will be long and painful

After completing TW3 it seemed that Ciri seemed the likely next protagonist. I'm in, now the real question how long do we have to wait. Will it drop on PS5 or be a PS6 launch title
?!

This was a fantastic opener for The Game Awards. Any bets on when it will be released? 2026? 2027? Perhaps this would even be a launch game for the PS6?

I bet the Steam forums will be filled with the usual suspects raging and not because of skepticism of CD Projekt following the overhyped and mid Cyberpunk but because the protagonist is a gasp female.

Epic. As expected but I was starting to worry that they was going to go with a different protagonist. If we can't have Geralt than it had to be Ciri.

It's not going to be a PS6 title. Let's face it it won't be a day one release as that never happens and the audience would be tiny so that'd mean 2029? I'd guess a late gen game to squeeze every bit of performance out of the PS5 and get high sales.

Can't wait to play this in 2028...

This is really disappointing to me I wanted to be a new fully customisable mc and romance Ciri because I love her. Certainly not going to be a day one buy for me now.

I'll get this after a year or two of patches. I don't trust CD Projekt Red to release this game in a playable state on day one.

@30fps60fps People are allowed opinions you know, in the same way that I wouldn't want to play Tomb Raider without Lara or Horizon without Aloy, perhaps I also want to play Witcher as Geralt, obviously you don't like people having an opinion.

I would hand them my money right now if I could. The Witcher 4 with Ciri has the lead is exactly what I wanted.

I'd be shocked if Geralt didn't make a cameo of some sort in it. Makes sense to keep that under wraps for a good long while.

Likely a late stage PS5 game or launch PS6 game. 2026 at the earliest

I honestly thought they would go the cyberpunk V route and we just create a character so I'm pleasantly surprised by this. Please let me play this and the Witcher 1 remake before I'm too old and decrepit

We are so back. What a trailer. Ciri, the two swords, the signs, the potions, the slavic music, and the ending showing again that in the world of the Witcher humans are often the worst monsters. Utter perfection

@BeerMonster yea man I’m the same. I prefer to play the established IPs as their character when created. And for the Witcher I want to play as a the man Geralt or another man. Just fits the world better to me. With that said I enjoyed the tomb raiders and other games that are good with female characters. For me this is like watching a bond movie as anyone other than James!

I’m so disappointed that there is no Geralt as the main! I really wanted to continue his story. I’m in the minority of fans whom doesn’t care for ciri.

This is just a cinematic trailer so we shall see what they can do with the common class Toyota Camry engine.

Not at all surprising, but it'll be a very different game from Witcher 3... can't see her having the same humour as Geralt, sadly.

Curiously The Witcher 3 didn't speak to me at all. Tried it for a little bit and immediately quit. But this one certainly looks very promising.

This will be CDPR redemption overall or it's lat nail if this comes and flops, I belive it's going to be fantastic..on the ps6 in 2028😱

@twitchy_emu92 why not play as Ciri. Find a random npc she can hook up with and pretend you are the npc?

@ironcrow86 What are you on about? A large majority of the characters are from the books themselves lmao It's not like they were randomly added characters for the sake of the game. They're all well established and well written.

@DennisReynolds Same here mate! I was extremely worried they were going to make a brand new character, to appeal to new audience members.

Very cool! Ol' Cirilla is looking pretty bad assed, and would be neat to have a grappling hook, in place of the crossbow, along with a few more powers. Seems they're keeping the tone all very 'folk horror' still, which is grand!

@ShogunRok Agreed! Thought they'd have a younger, more naiive and optimistic Ciri, but it seems she's been weathered by her experience and is taking up ol Geralt's mantle well!

I get it - for reasons ill never know, people will always sing the praises of the witcher and C2077, just understand i never will unless i deem it justified 🙂...Still, like i said before, i did like Siri , and im glad theyre making her 4s PC 🙂

it's 2024, of course the lead character is a female. Let's see. Returnal, Stellar Blade, Hellblade, TLoU Part 2, Control, Horizon, the upcoming Ghost of Yotei and the just-announced new Naughty Dog game and now this game...

However there have always been female leads in games such as in Metroid, Tomb Raider, Bayonetta, Perfect Dark and more.

So I don't know, in a way it does feel like there's a bit of an agenda but is it as egregious as some are making it out to be?

Oh heck yeah that was an awesome trailer. Kinda wish the Netflix show was this instead of live action.

@SleeplessKnight it’s really not that deep bud, there’s no agenda, Ciri is the next logical choice for MC after Geralt’s story finished. There are still plenty of games being made with male leads, why does every female playable character have to be justified? It shouldn’t be the case that any character that isn’t a white male has to have good reason not to be.

I’m stoked for this, Witcher 3 is a masterpiece, but as so many others have said, it’s hard to get excited when we all know it’s so far away. Sick trailer nonetheless.

The trailer has me concerned. Ciri IS the Lady of Time & Space, she has the ability to go anywhere in space and anywhen in time, but the trailer portrays her as just a Witcher. Just a female Geralt. No sign of the unique abilities that she holds in the books nor even in Witcher 3.

If Ciri is just a regular witcher in this one, that'll be a disappointment.

I am not completely surprised. There was 3 main ending to the Witcher 3. First ending was Ciri becoming Emperor, Second ending Ciri dies and the third ending was Ciri becomes a Witcher. I personally favoured the Empress ending but this looks interesting as well.

Looking forward to it, heard people say Ciri looks worse but I disagree, she just looks older which is better I think lol.

Maybe this is the game that gets me into the gaming franchise. Geralt is a block of cement. No interest in reading the books.

Best gaming news for last couple of years this , sadly just never been able to get into Elden Rings , FF games etc . For us both The Witcher Wild Hunt was our best game of last Gen.

I feel like we were expecting Ciri to be the protagonist since we knew another Witcher was coming. Geralt had a kinda nice ending to his arc with Blood and Wine.

Ciri always made the most sense, from both a narrative and gameplay standpoint.

I’ll be honest here, I’ve never looked at a game character and thought “I wish he were female”or “I wish she were male“. Like, when did that become a thing? I’ve been a black male all of my 43 years and I’ve been able to play male and female characters of every racial background and not give two sheets. Why is that so important to people now?!

@SleeplessKnight Last time i check, the protagonist of Black Myth Wukong, Space Marine 2, Silent Hill 2 remake, FF VII Rebirth, Metaphor, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Like A Dragon: Pirate, Prince of Persia: Last Crown, Tekken 8, Unicorn Overlord, Persona 3 Reload, GOW Ragnarok and the upcoming Onimusha / Death Stranding 2 / Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound / Crimson Desert / Project Century / Doom: The Dark Ages / MGS Delta / The First Berserker / Wolverine, Phantom Blade Zero are male.

So what agenda are you talking about???
