Re: RiME Dev Tequila Works Forced to Auction Off Assets After Bankruptcy

ThorsHammer

A year ago Embracer would've been on this like white on rice, looks like they've learned their lesson. That said, it's a shame AA indie studios are sinking like this, they put out solid games. Rime's heavy inspiration of Team Ico put me off, but Deadlight and Invisible Hours where incrediable. I thought Tencent was investing in them?

Re: Single Player Games Aren't Dead, 'They Just Have to Be Good', Says Larian Studios CEO

ThorsHammer

He's not wrong. We do tend to put rose tinted glasses on about the past eras, but a lot of rubbish got released too. I'm a singleplayer gamer all the way, I guess the silver lining is these devs really have to make incrediable titles to stand out...then bring it on. Just pls, let studios that specialize in the format, make those type of games, it usually doesn't end well when they don't.

Re: Insomniac Delists, Relists VR Catalogue, and Few Even Noticed

ThorsHammer

To answer the question, I did know they existed, in fact, I've played Stormlands and Edge of Nowhere, and their both fantastic (the other 2 have a mixed rep). The VR community was actually talking about this, why it wasn't made a bigger deal to the mainstream press is because it's not the first time it's happened, and more importantly, the Rift store is a complete and utter graveyard linked to a defunct headset. Would it be a seismic story if something was delisted on the PS3 storefront? Would you then weigh the disinterest to reflect the state of modern console engagement? It's pretty much the equivalent.

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

ThorsHammer

I mean how grating is it for this site? You tend to embelish the discourse every single time in multiple articles and surveys, all that feed you clicks, including this article. For me personally their hit and miss, some have been great, some have been underwhelming, it's not life or death...but for some ppl, they will treat it as such, I've learned to ignore the noise.

Re: PSVR2 Misses Out on Civilization 7 VR

ThorsHammer

Is this a Meta sponsored article? Sorry, i forget clicks are king. Seems weird to report on stuff the headset is NOT getting, at least be consistent, Triangle Strategy came out last year exclusivly in VR for Quest, both were paid by Meta's piggybanks, a privledge Sony cant afford at the moment. I get it, PSVR 2 isn't selling like hot cakes, Sony isn't supporting it via first party either (doesn't help they have been hemorrhaging cash on a misguised GaaS intiative), but it's still getting all the PC level third party games Quest 3 GPU can't handle, and has also shown better sales from the dedicated userbase then that platform, meaning indie thirdparty actually wants to bring their titles over. Regardless, the big companies have zero interest in VR, it's too niche, you have to have extra money to burn to get 2k or Square to bring something over, so let's not act doom and gloom when they don't. For third party, for example, Legendary Tales, Max Mastard, Metro, Into the Radius, Madison, Arken Age, all fantastic games from last year, the headset is the best place to play them due to haptics and FOV rendering.

Re: Poll: How Long Does It Take You to Beat a Big RPG?

ThorsHammer

I've got 2 little kids so game time is about 2 hrs at the end of my day. Big RPGs take months for me as I chip away. For example, last year I dropped 100 hrs on Elden Ring over the course of 4 and a half months. Recently I've spent3 months on Witcher 3, and in the final quarter of the story. It works, just takes a while.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards' 10th Anniversary Special Was Its Biggest and Best Ever

ThorsHammer

TBH it's the first showcase comparable to peak E3 we've gotten since pre-Covid. We're used to maybe two or three solid reveals with a flood of forgettable indies, and most of the big deals getting leaked in advance. Geoff did his due diligence and really delivered an exciting show with back-to-back omg reveals. I really enjoyed not having to damper expectations and just get blown back...it's been a good while since I had that feeling, 10th time lucky Keighly.

Re: Sony Confirms Interest in Buying FromSoftware Parent Company Kadokawa

ThorsHammer

@LogicStrikesAgain it falls under journalism, I mean if they had pure evidence that Kadokawa employee leaked the merger on purpose to drive stock up to increase sale, it could be insider trading...but considering both parties have been very delicutely assembling the deal for years, and Kadokawa has been the one pushing for Sony to buy everything instead of just %, the repercussions of the leak are that Sony might get priced out, or other buyers force a hostile takeover (which is the rumored reason for their deisire to sell out in the first place) neither of which Kadokawa wants at all, so it's not to their advantage it leaked either.
