A year ago Embracer would've been on this like white on rice, looks like they've learned their lesson. That said, it's a shame AA indie studios are sinking like this, they put out solid games. Rime's heavy inspiration of Team Ico put me off, but Deadlight and Invisible Hours where incrediable. I thought Tencent was investing in them?
Implicit Conversions, the guys Sony hires to emulate all the PS1/PS2 classics available on PS Plus Premium tier, are also working on making PS3 emulation work. If they can fix it, their the more likely culprit to bring over first-party stuff as they would be given access to the whole library.
Puppeteer would feel great on a Switch, and maybe finally get the attention it deserves. That said, I would be most excited for Soul Sacrifice, it always looked cool but I never got a chance to play it.
Sounds like it's going to be a fire sale on all remaining devs and IP, could go either way tbh, but the prospect of someone actually doing something with Splinter Cell, is enticing. Let's hope Embracer stays away, hopefully they learned their lesson at this point.
He's not wrong. We do tend to put rose tinted glasses on about the past eras, but a lot of rubbish got released too. I'm a singleplayer gamer all the way, I guess the silver lining is these devs really have to make incrediable titles to stand out...then bring it on. Just pls, let studios that specialize in the format, make those type of games, it usually doesn't end well when they don't.
@Flobbots you got a couple weeks, you can burn through both games by the 27th I'd say. Hitman has all 3 games available in VR, once you start, it'll be a time sinker. Enjoy!
To answer the question, I did know they existed, in fact, I've played Stormlands and Edge of Nowhere, and their both fantastic (the other 2 have a mixed rep). The VR community was actually talking about this, why it wasn't made a bigger deal to the mainstream press is because it's not the first time it's happened, and more importantly, the Rift store is a complete and utter graveyard linked to a defunct headset. Would it be a seismic story if something was delisted on the PS3 storefront? Would you then weigh the disinterest to reflect the state of modern console engagement? It's pretty much the equivalent.
It makes sense, whenever games on PS are repackaged, the PvP is obsolete, those modes were also really a time and place type of thing. EDay will likely have a modern and robust competitive mode available.
I'm OK with no more. I was fine with it ending with 1, it was a great haunting ending, but 2 caught me by surprise and I really enjoyed it. Regardless, I'm interested to see them develop new IPs at this point, LoU has left its mark.
@trev666 I mean it was a massive missed financial opportunity to not develop another installment of Crash, Jak, or Uncharted...but they moved on when they felt done, and created something new. Let's see if they stick to the same principle on this one.
SH1 pls, it's the only one of the first 6 I never played, I've always wanted to, would be great to enjoy with modern graphics. Plus SH3 is a direct sequel to the first, so would make most sense to go from there.
I mean how grating is it for this site? You tend to embelish the discourse every single time in multiple articles and surveys, all that feed you clicks, including this article. For me personally their hit and miss, some have been great, some have been underwhelming, it's not life or death...but for some ppl, they will treat it as such, I've learned to ignore the noise.
The only way I'd want to go back to Greece is if they remade the original trilogy in the new style. Otherwise, would just prefer they went somewhere new.
Is this a Meta sponsored article? Sorry, i forget clicks are king. Seems weird to report on stuff the headset is NOT getting, at least be consistent, Triangle Strategy came out last year exclusivly in VR for Quest, both were paid by Meta's piggybanks, a privledge Sony cant afford at the moment. I get it, PSVR 2 isn't selling like hot cakes, Sony isn't supporting it via first party either (doesn't help they have been hemorrhaging cash on a misguised GaaS intiative), but it's still getting all the PC level third party games Quest 3 GPU can't handle, and has also shown better sales from the dedicated userbase then that platform, meaning indie thirdparty actually wants to bring their titles over. Regardless, the big companies have zero interest in VR, it's too niche, you have to have extra money to burn to get 2k or Square to bring something over, so let's not act doom and gloom when they don't. For third party, for example, Legendary Tales, Max Mastard, Metro, Into the Radius, Madison, Arken Age, all fantastic games from last year, the headset is the best place to play them due to haptics and FOV rendering.
@Ravix it's actually DC not Marvel, technicalities aside I do agree, everyone's fatigued on superheroes. That said, LotR was pretty played out by the time they did Shadow.
I've got 2 little kids so game time is about 2 hrs at the end of my day. Big RPGs take months for me as I chip away. For example, last year I dropped 100 hrs on Elden Ring over the course of 4 and a half months. Recently I've spent3 months on Witcher 3, and in the final quarter of the story. It works, just takes a while.
It sounds like Hulst will do more of the same, except he'll have to ask Nishino permission to do it. Can't imagine the money dump of their GaaS initiative has anything to do with it...
I mean Bluepoint and God of War could go great together...just not with a GaaS title. Would love for them to remake the earlier games, especially part 2, which remains my favorite. Bluepoint is great at doing a specific thing, let them do it.
@LikelySatan your meant to constantly up the difficulty as your character gets stronger, you'll be rewarded with better gear and more XP, and an actual challenge.
TBH it's the first showcase comparable to peak E3 we've gotten since pre-Covid. We're used to maybe two or three solid reveals with a flood of forgettable indies, and most of the big deals getting leaked in advance. Geoff did his due diligence and really delivered an exciting show with back-to-back omg reveals. I really enjoyed not having to damper expectations and just get blown back...it's been a good while since I had that feeling, 10th time lucky Keighly.
@LogicStrikesAgain it falls under journalism, I mean if they had pure evidence that Kadokawa employee leaked the merger on purpose to drive stock up to increase sale, it could be insider trading...but considering both parties have been very delicutely assembling the deal for years, and Kadokawa has been the one pushing for Sony to buy everything instead of just %, the repercussions of the leak are that Sony might get priced out, or other buyers force a hostile takeover (which is the rumored reason for their deisire to sell out in the first place) neither of which Kadokawa wants at all, so it's not to their advantage it leaked either.
@LogicStrikesAgain your spot on, it should be private, but they didn't announce it, Bloomberg leaked that both parties were in discussion, it effected Kadokawa's stock prices, so they were obliged to be transperent about it to joe public.
Alright, well unless some force majure topples this over, it's a done deal. Kadokawa wants to be bought exclusively by Sony, Sony has confirmed it wants to buy them.
Woah. That's crazy, they didn't even try to hide it, could Sony sue? Everything from colors to locations to costumes it's hard to even seperate the two.
Sweet, I was curious about Aliens DD, will check out. Already played It Takes Two, it's absolutely incredible, you have no idea until you play it what a masterpiece it is.
Ok, so unless Sony gets cold feet, it's done. Kadokawa needs/wants a buyer and wants them to be locals, plus both have had a longstanding relationship together. Can imagine games will stay multiplat...well, maybe they keep off Xbox just to spite them as they do 😆, but Nintendo and PC will continue.
@get2sammyb yep I think you hit the nail on the head, Vita needed games made or ported from scratch, Steam Deck would inherit my 150+ games in my library, same with Switch being hybird, they found a model to make it feasible in modern times...so why not make one.
Hell yes, and I think it's pretty much guarteened at this point, the portable market has exploded since the failure of the Vita, and the demand for the Portal has showcased that people want it from them.
I was happy the acquisition race had slowed down due to the competive random nature of it. However, if Sony is going to spend big, this is one to spend big on, it provides on several levels, plus on the games front they've had a long standing (if bumpy) relationship with From.
