Wow €100 for a bit of digital in-game skins and a couple of shards, Sony first party games are looking more and more unappealing and just feel like Arrogant greedy Sony Are taking advantage and milking as much money as humanly possible from their fans. That’s what it feels like.

I am seriously going to re-evaluate my ps5 preorder, might just cancel it or sell it on eBay and stay with my series x

people that are moaning about the price rises and just accepting it and planning on buying them at full price day one are part of the problem. Be a little patient, wait a couple of weeks and buy them used. That way you are not supporting the price increase and you are getting your games cheaper

@Spooder got a series x ordered and a ps5. Won’t be buying any PS4 to ps5 updates or new games at €80 each.

My ps5 will see only used games from day 1, I don’t like being ripped off!!

The series x will be my main console with gamepass.

They are doing a remedy/505 games. Just another way to milk dry PlayStation gamers Of all their money now they have you in their ecosystem, this is going to be the new norm for a arrogant, greedy Sony going forward. What have they done that benefits gamers? Full Backwards compatibility? Noop, free PS4 to ps5 upgrades? Noop, good exclusive first party games yes! caveat *you have to pay us €80 for the pleasure (40% price hike)

@YETi me too mate, ordered a ps5 which I think is good value for what hardware you get but not buying any new Games from now on

@MS7000 £70 / €80 will be the new norm for games if people keep buying them (being selective with games or not) on release for that much! Wait a few weeks and buy used! Cheaper games without supporting the price rise, if enough people do this then publishers will resort back to old prices. Don’t even buy in sales unless it’s a lot cheaper than used

@Medic_Alert exactly! People feel the need to begrudgingly pay full price at launch for the games that they really want to play, why not go one step further and wait a week or two and get the game cheaper without supporting the price rise? That’s what myself and friends are going to do

I’m a gamer and so are all my friends and we are not not happy paying £70 so we are not going to! We’ve decided to take turns buying used games and just borrow them from each other! Never paying those prices, ever!!

@Kefka2589 sounds like you got a good thing going on. I plan on only buying used as well. I might buy the odd game at full price, maybe demons souls if it comes down a little but the rest of my games will be used after that

@Rob_230 if people buy the launch titles full asking price in droves, There is no way Sony or any other publisher will lower prices when they can sell just as many but for much more unfortunately. I honestly think Sony are testing the waters in Europe and U.K. to see if people accept the new prices, if people do accept the them, then expect high prices to stay with more and more publishers following suit

I will be buying used games only. I don’t mind waiting 6-12 months, I will have cyberpunk and plenty of PS4 games I have yet to play in my library

@Northern_munkey a bit more??? They are over 25% increase in some countries, it’s outrageous. Even mainstream media are reporting about the prices being stupidly overpriced.

@Eadgar very true, I plan on only buy used unless there is a deep sale on a game I want or it’s an amazing game (think cyberpunk).

I think Sony’s strategy on pricing for games have given Microsoft a lifeline, this gen its going to be very very close between the ps5 and Xbox in terms of sales.

@Kefka2589 are you planning on waiting a long time and buy used games? Unless you wait a very long time, used games tend to only be $10-$15 lower than full price, hardly a huge saving but I guess it’s better than nothing

@Old-Red that’s the trouble, they have sold a ***** ton of ps5 games at that price and while people are willing to cough up full price, Sony won’t lower prices. No business would.

Pricing is Absolutely outrageous, for Europe and U.K. I’ve owned every PlayStation at launch but I will be skipping this one, decided to jump ship to Microsoft as they seems insanely better value and not as anti consumer as Sony. I will be a ps5 in maybe a few years with a handful of very cheap ps5 games.

Oh come on, when the publisher issued the statement about not technically possible to upgrade to next gen console versions who actually believed them?

They were lying through their teeth, it was pretty obvious greedy scummy 505 games were saying that just to milk gamers for even more money. To stop lying scum bag publishers like 505 games from getting away with stuff like this, gamers need to start voting with their wallets. If you really want a game, From any publisher that are anti consumer or greedy scum like 505 just buy it used. That way you get to play the game cheap and the publisher won’t see a cent of your hard earned money. Been doing this for a long time.

@koffing I think it’s insane that developers and publishers release games broken and barely running with huge performance issues like control.

Releasing a patch to upgrade to next gen for free is being pro consumer and supporting your game and building a good reputation with your customers like cd project red and insomniac. Not harmed sales for cd project red games at all! Gamers have a long memory and will remember them doing this sleazy stunt that 505 games have done pretty much puts them up there with EA and 2K games.

@Old-Red totally agree with you. Publishers are using the next gen consoles as a excuse to put prices up. I think they are in for a bit of a shock when their games don’t sell as well as expected at launch and prices will revert back to normal for their future games. I am planning on buying used or waiting for a big price drop in sales before I purchase any of the $70 titles.

@Luna-Harmony all I will say is good luck to them, when most players don’t buy on launch and games don’t sell as well as expected , they will soon lower the prices of their games

Not a chance in hell will I ever pay $70 for a standard version of a game and if greedy publishers do decide to increase the prices of their games then I will just buy them used a few months later so they don’t see one cent of my money for the games I am interested in playing.

Publishers and developers playing on heartstrings stating that games cost too much money to make is bull crap. They still manage to make 100s of millions, some even billions in profit every year whilst paying their ceos millions in bonuses!

Now if the game is good value 40 hours plus, no micro transactions (including cosmetic) no paid dlc or season passes to fork out for content that should have been in the main game... you pay your $70 and you get ALL content, then maybe I would but this would never happen!
