In theory it's something Sony could've been doing.
We'll never be presented with the facts and we'll never know for sure. I just feel it's something Sony would do and then reverse. Just an assumption of mine and not at all influenced by outside sources.
I really dislike modern gaming practices. 'We'll just patch it later, just release it, as is'. It's going to be one of those games that 'maybe gets better' and for those that have taken a chance on that. That's absolutely fine.
There is so much potential with where this could go under the helm of Netflix. With Assassins Creed being one of my favourite series ever. I am really happy to see that we could get something fundamentally better than what's out there.
It's a half-truth. It was something Sony was working on. Then they changed course because of what Project Helix is capable of.
Sony has a happy habit of doing that and when you look at it from their point of view. They're going to protect their brand at all costs. While hardware is such a big thing for them anyway and while they know the basis of what exclusives mean.
That means it's off the table for now until we see a shift in where the gaming industry is going universally. Then, they might have to explore certain scenarios.
@LogicStrikesAgain That's it right there, it's certainly going to find an audience no matter the score. It's not top tier defining, but it's a game that a lot of people will enjoy anyway down the line.
I think the reason why this game is a bit 'soured' is because the focus has been on the PC version. Without the console review being there, it does raise suspicion.
I personally don't think it's a 'bad' game. It's getting decent reviews, but it's underwhelmed in terms of being upfront to a point where there is obviously a valid concern.
I'll check it out once fully patched and we see a more 'complete' situation.
Loving the fact Sony is leading on this. It's the step up the industry needs when performance in games is absolutely demanded by pretty much everyone these days.
This can only help set the standard going into the future for other platforms also. Well, I hope anyway.
@nomither6 Yeah, that's the only thing that's stopping Nintendo from competing. I wouldn't mind them going the traditional route actually. The Wii was a weird phenomenon. I don't think that happens again. They struck gold there. PlayStation is always going to be favourable for most. They've built a great platform. Xbox going PC-like is something I've known for about two years. I recognise why they're doing it. I love the openness of the ecosystem and I think that's where they could find success on their own terms. Really depends on how PlayStation decides to go going forward. I'll watch on with intrigue, but quite happy within the Xbox ecosystem which has become bigger based on that connection with PC. I'm probably in the minority there. But hey, we all enjoy different things. It's good to see that PlayStation has tied up some games and they'll get full exposure on the biggest platform. However, they're going to need to eventually adapt also to meet other challenges. Not for any particular reason but mainly to keep that edge. They had a great State of Play. Love the work they're doing with Konami in bringing them into the picture to the same effect as Stellar Blade. Albeit a comeback. Nobody can really standstill though and making the wrong decisions can cost you. None of the gaming companies are immune to that.
@johncalmc The interesting thing will be, if they actually listen or just continue as planned anyway. The previous leadership actually 'listened' and that was one of the reasons why they were very successful and fans were happy.
@nomither6 I agree with you. A PC is the future. I understand that the Switch 2 is a handheld as well. However, if they had taken a more traditional point. I don't think PlayStation would have had it as easy personally. That's not taking away the success that PlayStation has had or the dedicated fanbase it has either. It's well earned.
Blind loyalty doesn't get us anywhere. We can like the product, enjoy all it's provided to us and the great memories but these decisions have to be accounted for.
PlayStation fans have a right to complain and 'any' gaming company that does these sorts of decisions need to be firmly held to account.
@OldGamer999 If Nintendo actually goes one step further next generation with their hardware. They did so to a certain extent with the Switch 2. But if we get a console that's dedicated in the way they used to be. I'd consider them more of a threat than they are now. The only thing that lets Nintendo down is their failure to innovate their eco-system. If they end up actually best representing themselves in that department while keeping a closed ecosystem. It would practically make them unstoppable in Japan and elsewhere around the world. I actually think if they teamed up with Xbox years back Sony wouldn't have been as dominant as they are now. But then, with any sort of team up that presents risks. So ultimately, right now the situation is what it is. I spent 5 generations on PlayStation. But I am in the eco-system right now with a Series X solely for the purpose that if that doesn't go right I can always go PC or even Steam. Sonys just not helping themselves with the way their acting. That doesn't mean I hate them, I have many fond memories of what they have brought over the years. But all I am seeing is a decline in that right now.
Exclusivity isn't the be all and end all and a lot of game developers are starting to realize that based on the lack of growth in console. As a game I played on PlayStation. Looking forward to playing this and many other games that make the jump on Xbox and other platforms out there where it makes sense.

@Weez Yeah, I agree. The foundations are being built and it's only going to get better.

@lazarus11 lol. I have to admit it. That made me chuckle.

@OldGamer999 Absolutely, Nintendo are the only ones really defining their future here.
