Re: Microsoft Planned to Conquer Japan with Square Enix Buyout, Eye-Opening Documents Reveal

SacredPYRO

I don't understand why this is a surprise to anyone. Microsoft will have a nice neat spreadsheet somewhere (in excel of course) with every developer on the planet on it with pros and cons.

Sony will have the same (probably in Google sheets 😂). Although Sony's will be a lot more refined due to financial constraints as they don't have the same pockets as M$.

This is just business, I have seen the exact same research and data capture on possible acquisitions for the company I work for.

I don't understand why each one of these "what if"s has to become a separate news article.

Re: US Government's FTC Will Attempt to Block Microsoft's Activision Buyout

@NomNom how is that any different to the current situation? My friends that own multiple systems play CoD on PS because they get more stuff. If the deal goes through they will probably play on Xbox because of game pass. They will still have a choice of where to play and will make that decision based on their own circumstances.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

SacredPYRO

People do realise that this deal will be renegotiated once it's nearing the end right?

MS can't commit to a 'forever' deal. What if they decide to stop making Call of Duty? Sony would take them to the cleaners if they had a contract that said indefinitely on it. Player numbers of the standard games (Warzone excluded) are already in decline.

Personally I would love the CoD factory split up and put on other projects. Give Halo to Infinity Ward or Treyarch, let Toys for Bob go back to what they do best.

At the end of the day this is all about money for Jim, not us gamers, nothing more. Let's all be honest as well, MS aren't going to suddenly pull one of the most profitable live service games from the largest console install base.

Re: Star Wars KOTOR PS5 Remake News Coming 'in the Next Several Months'

@SerJosh97 I mean there is so much wow in that comment.

First off you're flat out telling someone they are not allowed to play certain games on a certain platform because people you know don't do that. I have friends that only play FIFA and Warzone on their PSs, so by your logic the entire PS user base does the same

Secondly, single player experiences do just fine on Xbox, but it has a much smaller install base than PS so sales numbers will always be smaller. The PS exclusives as a percentage of install base are probably around the same figure. Also the games you mentioned are from the doomed Xbox One gen where nothing sold well.

I'm lucky enough to own all platforms so where I buy my games is up to me. I own the previous 2 KOTOR games on Xbox so why would I not want to keep the franchise in the same place? If Uncharted or GoW suddenly went multiplatform I would still buy them on PS.

Now I've written all that I honestly can't believe I wasted my time replying

@Salt_AU I don't know how familiar you are with Xbox but their rewards program tends to mess up a lot of peoples completion rates. Before I joined I was very strict on trying to finish games I start whereas now MS award 'points' from time to time for certain tasks. I have an ungodly amount of games with 1 achievement in because a rewards quest has told me to earn an achievement on a game I had no intention of playing. I believe Outriders had one of these 500 point 'punchcards' shortly after launch.

Plays havoc with my stats but also nets me between £10-£15 a month in rewards points to make me no longer care about stats 😂

Re: Outriders Has so Far Failed to Turn a Profit for Square Enix

Isn't this news story about Outriders hasn't made a profit for PCF not SE. PCF have said they are yet to make a profit on the game not SE.

PCF don't receive any royalties from game sales until SE makes it's publishing costs back from "sales". I'm trying to find the source but I'm sure I read a news article last year about how PCF received no payment from the game pass deal because it didn't count as sales. SE kept all that money for itself.

I really enjoyed the game, it was fun and that's what I want from a game. Looking forward to the DLC and shall be buying day one. I just hope PCF can find another publisher because I love the studio.

@Voltan obviously everyone has different vision but I found the game a graphical treat. I can imagine all the lighting/neon could negatively effect some people. There is a video on YouTube of a modder who got into a first person perspective and the detail is insane for an isometric/top down game.

Played at launch on the Series X and loved it, there were some issues with co op if I remember but I played solo. I believe a few updates has ironed these out though. My one gripe would be that the game lacks very little replayability.
