It's a mistake for Sony to save their powder for PSX, E3 is about mind share and focusing the gaming community's attention for 4 days. Yes it is big, loud and crowded but people are paying attention and not just gaming fans. PS fans will no doubt be paying attention to PSX but what about the casual fans. Word of mouth and opinions matter. Announce the games at E3 and demo them at PSX.
The best of both worlds. Introduce a more powerful PS4, lower the price of the old PS4, sell more units, increase user base at the top and bottom end! Early adopters trade in there old machines to buy a new machines making used PS4 cheap to buy for those who want a deal. Have your cake and eat it to!
