I had the opportunity to work with people from India and damn they are good for software development.
If China is almost ready to start a constant stream of games that look good India also has that potential. It's going to take some time (China Hero games have been releasing since 2018 but Lost Soul Aside is the first big one to release from the project) but they'll get there.
This REALLY has a GOW feeling to it. The combat, the bodies proportions for the camera, the art direction of some enemies, the rage, the axe ... looks cool. Mercury's Castlevania Lords of Shadow was fun and their Metroids have been also good so this should be a good game.
GOW, Returnal, TLOU, Ratchet, Helldivers, Horizon, Spider Man, doesn't matter what people think about PS games, devs are always looking for cool concepts/features to get inspired and work in their games, they can see true value and the generation of PS Studios games that started with the PS4 is leaving its mark.
@Nepp67 it IS a party game, the developer has described it like that lol and the point of party games is basically what you just described + when you want to play with your friends.
It's all about what business they are looking for. If they understand the difference between the management of a party game and a competitive online game, they are going to be fine ... if people give it a chance or course. These days some people are too obsessed with the idea that every online game is bad and that if it doesn't have 1 trillion concurrent players on steam is a flop lol and it's not like that, Pummel Party one of the most successful party games out there doesn't have those concurrent players numbers but it has sold good numbers because they understand their business.
@Lysterao if i have to bet I would say doom has the biggest chance because is a new game but it's true that Forza is the biggest game they have ported to ps5 yet so that could also mean something. If they announce a collection of Gears I would also think it has a big chance because as far as I understand there isn't a collection of gears for pc so it would also be "new". I say that is a shame for Halo because the MC collection has been out there for 10 years or so on xbox and pc so de chances are very small outside companies like LR.
@Northern_munkey maybe I missed the point you had in your head but what you wrote can be easily interpreted as victims should just ignore abuse against them and keep working.
You also ended with a little "this doesn't affect us gamers". Well I'm not so sure I'm a gamer because I do care about the people who make the games I like. This is the aftermath of the situation.
@Northern_munkey the option was to report him so he was fired for inappropriate behavior in the working place and it happened. You expected for the victims to just keep quiet about it? lol.
Was I exited about his? No but I understand this is a 7 million copies game and even if 5 of those 7 million paid $30 instead of $60 the opportunity of getting the definitive edition of a game you were interested in (because yes, sales reflect interest) for $10 is a good deal.
Remember the good old when MS used to pay so companies like SEGA wouldn't post anything about if the games would release on PS or not for 24hrs and some times even more?
It feels like it was just 3 months ago ... the nostalgia.
Excellent decision, it was about time. Sony pays for these games, it makes all the sense in the world for them to be the publishers on pc and keep making money from it. In the last 4 months they have reveled being the publisher of 3 games on pc, it took them long enough to realize that should always be part of the negotiations.
The disc drive attachment gives the user to opportunity to save money if they aren't interested in physical media (a % we know increases every year) and at the same time it also saves the necessity for having two models, important in the production process of the console so that is probably what is going to happen next generation. One model and whoever is interested in discs has to pay a little more for the attachment. However as you can already see in the supper nice comments of this site the option of users saving money won't be seen with good eyes, it's always about the "why it's wrong" and never about the logistic behind the moves.
FINALLY! It was a shame that a great game like SF6 had such a sh*tty decision of making money out of collaborations people where buying to never actually use because everything was limited to the avatars. The Anya's dress was funny but nothing else made sense after, I'm guessing they had to listen because of the only reason big companies listen, people actually stopped buying.
Ok crazy idea here. How about people who actually give a damn about PS games ... have a PS to play those games? lol.
The kind of games PS makes right now are the result of 10 years of knowing what PS fans like and not everyone is or will be a PS fan. It's pretty simple. Those games are pretty niche in a world where most people want an anime character with curves, a scary game with moppets or an rpg over hyped by content creators. To each their own.
BTW if this site is going to use Helldivers as an example of success on pc you guys should say the main reason of that success. It's a good online shooter. There is a reason why COD sells 20 million minimum even if it's bad, there is a reason why Fortnite will never die. People like to shoot stuff, it's part of our society.
Remember when Maximilian was in the middle of one of his "I know everything about the industry" attacks and he said fighting games (this is a party game but still) should be f2p? And then he took this game initial hype to backup that idea? LOL.
Is KI on xbox crossplayeable with pc? Because that would be the first xbox game that I would actually be interested in if it has crossplay. I don't want an almost dead online game just to play it with 5 more people lol.
The Show is developed by PlayStation but it's still a licensed product and when it released on xbox for the first time there were reports/rumos saying the MLB asked for the game to be released on gamepass.
The game sells a lot on xbox, not actually surprising given the popularity of baseball and xbox in the same territories in America so if the reports were true makes sense for Sony to push a new deal with the MLB about how to release the game on xbox. They were losing money there but that will stop with this entry.
Following this movement Sony stock hit a new record high in Japan so you decide if this is good or bad lol. The house is clean and organized now, let them cook.
The xbox series x is supposed to be more powerful than the ps5. That wasn't enough for the masses to buy an Xbox.
MS owns COD, 20+ studios, they are making a lot of money and will make more money now that they won't have big exclusives but Spencer knows the console business is done, PlayStation won because they made the right pushes in the right moments and that now includes China. GTA6 is the last test, when it releases consoles will get a boost, if xbox can't boost with a once in a generation event then who knows what will be the future of xbox hardware.
What i see is: -Helldivers in number 3 just after two forever games and above a bunch of other forever games is great and deserved. -Helldivers and Wukong saving the year filling the Concord disaster. -MLB The Show 24 is still a great business for Sony, many don't think about it when thinking about "Sony services" but GT and MLB are the original services. -Spider Man is still selling a lot one year after release, also good news. -Astro Bot being in the top 20 in fantastic. The PS playerbase wasn't the place for games like Astro to be fully appreciated but that can change with time. -Europe appreciated Astro more than America, it makes sense.
A shame that the blog didn't include the list of PSVR 1 most downloaded games, I'm pretty sure Astro would be on top.
There is no mystery in the increase of developers interested in developing for pc.
GDC and GDC related stuff is flooded with indie developers and it's easy to self publish on pc contrary to needing a publisher to release on console unless you already have a big name in the industry (funny thing is a lot of devs actually go to GDC looking for investors/publishers and those publishers could actually mean the end of their game in the future if the business goes wrong, ironic isn't it?). Every year there are more and more indie developers and most don't have the kind of project a publisher would be interested to publish on consoles for "free". There are publisher who can publish your game for a payment and there are publishers who publish your game for free but take a share of sales, in most cases games with potential take the second option from big publisher because of the marketing and opportunities the game can get. Developers who know they don't qualify for those options just focus on pc knowing selling your game isn't easy but not impossible.
That without counting the fact that porting your game to consoles and mobile also means more time/money you need to invest. Godot for example, is very popular these days but it doesn't have free porting options integrated to the engine, you need to either get a good publisher who can port for you or pay for the services of a third party company who has developed the tool needed for porting and their payment isn't a one time only payment, it's a service, you have to pay them every year as long as you want to keep their tech support for your game.
Yeah this trailer shows the Sony focus in Chinese games isn't for nothing, these guys are crazy talented lol the game looks fantastic and it's a freaking action game, cherry on top. The studio has talked about the FromSoft inspiration ONLY on level design but the FromSoft combat not fitting their style so I hope people actually see it for what it is and not just like a "soulslike" a term that is derogatory these days.
They have also talked about how Sony is just up to help them in what they can. Spotlight? Consoles? Contacts? You get it. That's how you build good relationships. Hoyo, Shift Up, Koei Tecmo, they get it. SE doesn't lol.
People didn't want services or "more Aloy" and now that the games are cancelled they want to talk like that this is bad lol. There was a 50/50 change of this happening, that's the risk you take when you aren't intelligent enough and go bet all in. Ryan was like that. If there was a good time for this to happen is right now that sony's existence doesn't rely on vg anymore.
"Sony's dismal live service fortunes"? Don't get me wrong, no company wants to lose the money Concord lost for Sony, not even MS with their bottomless pockets but the so vocal AH ex CEO said it, AH and Sony were expecting 1 million unit sales, they have sold 15 million in less than one year. Destiny 2 not only had a great ending it also made it to the top ranks of money makers for 2024 on steam (based in Steam own rankings) and if we want to go back to other games, thanks to updates GT 7 is very good now and people were excited about My first GT.
Concord was a disaster, Bungie almost died but sony services are making money dude lol, sadly that money came too late from Bungie and just saved half the people fired. Right now there are services in development from good developers like Media Molecule and I wish some people could stop the hypocrisy (when they are playing marvel, cod, fortnite, genshin, etc) and give those future games an actual chance, not just label them like "ugh services" just because Concord was horrendous.
Now talking specifically about Gummy Bears, I don't know if younger people will be interested because a lot of kids only want to shoot stuff but cozy games are peaking these days so it has a chance. Also the idea of it being very fun is something that has been on reports since before Sony intervention or Bungie layoffs, the people at Bungie thought it was fun and I believe in Bungie devs more than in the previous SIE administration so let them cook.
-Ghost of Yotei releases in the first half of the year and it's great.
-Lost Soul Aside results very fun but people are going to hate on it because of surrealistic expectations.
-We will see Intergalactic gameplay.
-Sony releases a remaster from a ps2/ps3 game (personally I would love GOW or Sly).
-IF GTA6 releases it will do what Wukong did for PS in China last year but in the rest of the world aka GTA6 will sell ps5 like crazy.
-BluePoint will present their new game and it will look awesome but it will get no hype until release because there are people who live under a rock and think they are remaking Dragoon.
Making a quick search, the dude who said first he joined PlayStation and was working under Blundell lives in LA so there is a big chance is that studio.
Does it really matter tho? Letting aside the fact that steam reviews most of the time are about the user agenda and not the game. Ghost of Tsushima was the digital best seller of its month in the US when it released last year. Helldivers can't stop selling with a 70. Didn't this site publish some "news" that the Sony ceo doesn't care?
Every indie dev knows that to put a bad review people need to have the game in their library. If they buy, review and return the review doesn't count. The solution is quite simple, instead of thinking that steam reviews matter when they clearly don't people could just not buy instead lol, that's how they listen.
Hard to say. Personally I don't think gp is a hype generator in general. Outriders, Back for Blood and Exoprimal were day 1 gp games and it didn't work that well for any of them. When I want to think about the Fall Guys or the Rocket League of gp the only example that comes to mind is Party Animals and I don't know enough about the game to say that the gp exposure was the key for its success BUT maybe that is just a perspective problem because the people who are in charge to make xbox games viral (media, streamers, content creators, people on reddit, etc) play those games on pc so I just assume they are playing on steam lol when maybe they are indeed using gp.
So now big sales != enthusiasm about the IP? Then people buy it because they don't have anything else to do with their money or what? LOL.
What many Horizon haters don't get is that Sony pushing Guerrilla's work isn't exclusive to Horizon. Killzone had 7 releases in 9 years and 4 of those 7 were directed to test and promote new technologies (ps3, psp, ps4, ps vita). People love to hate on Horizon because of Aloy but the fact is this is so much more than just Aloy, this isn't Sony saying "those Horizon guys they buy everything", this is them knowing the world of Horizon is so good it's perfect to try new things and diversify the product. The machines are perfect to sell LEGO, at the beginning of development Horizon was a multiplayer so it makes sense Guerrilla is making a multiplayer, the machines are the most spectacular to see in VR, it's a post post apocalyptic world so an MMORPG isn't a crazy idea, the machines have the best chance to capture eyes in theaters for people who don't even know what Horizon is. It's very simple.
@Vega37 he was the director of Bayonetta Origins, game that many fans actually enjoyed and I don't think it's about "hope" because Housemarque is already making good games. This is about a developer good enough to be the director of a good game joining a good studio that is growing.
I'm of the idea that there will always be new talent capable of creating great games but it looks like right now Platinum Games is in a transition (to not say that it's a shell of what it once was) Kamiya and the people loyal to him leaving to form Clovers and now this director. It makes you wonder if Nintendo will be still interested in them of they will pursue to hire Clovers instead.
In the side of Housemarque I'm obviously happy. Returnal was a great first AAA game for them, they have a lot of talent when it comes to very tight gameplay so a game designer with experience in the kind of games Platinum use to make is a great addition to the studio.
If we can't get more Starship Troopers on theaters this is the next best thing, it just needs to be crazy and fun. I hope they offer a cameo to Van Dien.
The Sony administration talked about having their own anime and tbh they don't need to buy Kadokawa for that, they already have great IP that can be great animes. This is fantastic news I hope they see the potential of Infamous in the future.
-"Is the video game industry headed for another collapse, or has one already begun?" When exactly was the last one? Also if there is growing money every year a market can't be under the collapsed category. If anything it's in an adjustment phase, the problem is the adjustment will take years because companies won't just cancel everything big they have in production and people are going to keep losing their jobs in the mean time.
"What's the solution to these ballooning costs?" People stop complaining when games aren't gigantic or don't look ultra good or aren't build from 0 for every entry. Yes there are happy people playing Like a Dragon annual games with models made 10 years ago but oh boy I remember people complaining because the boat in GOW R had a recycled animation from GOW, also how to forget the term "one and done" or the fact that Ronin looks "like a ps4 game" lol.
One of the things I liked the most from the Intergalactic trailer was the fact that the robot looked great and also not unnecessarily expensive.
BTW maybe Intergalactic can take the championship back but right now Insomniac is the best PS Studio. They not only make good games they also make the most money and are an oiled machine that delivers new games with a median of 1.5 years between releases. If they can release anything this year that will mean not even a pandemic and a Ryan service can stop them.
Not surprising, now let's see if the people who complain about old ip use actually buy them ... not like the MediEvil remake, gravity rush remaster, patapon 1&2 remasters, wipeout collection, jak 1-3, among other games PS tried to bring back last gen but people seem to forget they did lol.
It wasn't a bad statement but based in their history of lowering their head since real success hit them get ready for an apology in the upcoming days ... or hrs lol.
That's the thing, people who have problems with people that don't even know they exist is people without love.
Once I heard the solution to anger is not love, is the ability to connect with people. We are a social species but people don't even tried to connect with others these days, that's why there is so much hate on the internet.

Re: All Your Friends Can Play Midnight Murder Club for Free on PS5

Re: Feature: 18 PS5 Predictions for 2025
-Ghost of Yotei releases in the first half of the year and it's great.
Re: Job Listing Confirms Sony Has Established an Internal AAA Studio in LA
Making a quick search, the dude who said first he joined PlayStation and was working under Blundell lives in LA so there is a big chance is that studio.
Re: You'd Better Believe The Last of Us 2 Demands a PSN Account on PC
"where every user has a voice and can be heard"
Re: Industry Journalist Says Xbox Game Pass Does Increase Premium Sales, on PS5
Re: Horizon Hatred Simmers Once More As Sony Announces Movie Adaptation
Re: Housemarque Recruits PlatinumGames Dev of 11 Years as Lead Designer on Next PS5 Game
@Vega37 he was the director of Bayonetta Origins, game that many fans actually enjoyed and I don't think it's about "hope" because Housemarque is already making good games.
This is about a developer good enough to be the director of a good game joining a good studio that is growing.
Re: Housemarque Recruits PlatinumGames Dev of 11 Years as Lead Designer on Next PS5 Game
Re: Helldivers 2 Is So Big It's Already Getting a Hollywood Adaptation
If we can't get more Starship Troopers on theaters this is the next best thing, it just needs to be crazy and fun. I hope they offer a cameo to Van Dien.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Legends Is an Upcoming Anime Inspired by the PS5, PS4 Game
The Sony administration talked about having their own anime and tbh they don't need to buy Kadokawa for that, they already have great IP that can be great animes. This is fantastic news I hope they see the potential of Infamous in the future.
Re: How Well Do You Know Uncharted?
Some day you will get your deserved remake Nathan, I'll wait for you.
Re: Naughty Dog Sold to Sony to Avoid Being 'Crushed' By Cost of Game Dev
Re: Rumour: PlayStation Is Working on Reviving Some of Its 'Deep Cut' Franchises
Re: Helldivers 2 Dev Is Starting to Think About What's Next
@Oram77 maybe they have the money to buy Magicka from Paradox Entertainment.
Re: Helldivers 2's Creative Director's Latest Comments Have Landed Him in Hot Water
It wasn't a bad statement but based in their history of lowering their head since real success hit them get ready for an apology in the upcoming days ... or hrs lol.
Re: Stellar Blade Dev Says It Hopes Everyone Is 'Living in Love' After Naughty Dog Artist's Interpretation of Eve Is Unfairly Criticised
That's the thing, people who have problems with people that don't even know they exist is people without love.
Once I heard the solution to anger is not love, is the ability to connect with people. We are a social species but people don't even tried to connect with others these days, that's why there is so much hate on the internet.
Re: SNK's New KOF Studio Will Revolutionise the Legacy of Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, More
@Nem they already are, there is an action rpg SamSho game in the works. This is a confirmation of their expansion.
