Re: Kadokawa Wants Sony's Full Commitment with Buyout of Entire Company

GymratAmarillo

This makes sense for Sony because the "monopoly" of Anime in the west is ending. Just this season 3 of the 5 most popular animes can be watched outside Crunchy (the only one "exclusives" being Blue Lock and ReZero) and from those 3 one isn't even on Crunchy (Bleach being exclusive to Disney owned services).

Netflix, Disney and Warner are already putting a lot of money not only to produce but to distribute anime. The "monopoly" was never a monopoly it was just an opportunity with no competition. Now that competition exists and the best interest for Sony should be to get their own anime to keep their platform relevant.

Re: Amid Turbulent Times for the Games Industry, Koei Tecmo Is Doubling Down on Consoles Like PS5

GymratAmarillo

Sony is helping KT grow and worked as the perfect platform for SU to gain massive attention before going public and make huge money tor the owner. Yes Nikke was already making a lot of money but the regular player didn't know what Nikke was before Stellar Blade, now they know and probably even play it.

That should be the story about third party exclusives for this year, not Square Enix struggling economically because of their own mistakes lol.

Re: Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Fighting Back with Big PS4 Balance Update

GymratAmarillo

@carlos82 you think so? Actually it feels like anyone can make controllers for PS5 these days.

If you are talking specifically about old sticks support I get it but the components to make PS5 sticks are out there for anyone to buy. All the small companies new releases are fully compatible with PS5 (if they aren't oriented only to pc to reduce costs because it's old tech).

At first it felt like the possibilities were limited to fighting games because Sony gives different kind of permissions to controller makers but after the announcement of the SWORL by JunkFood, a mod controller fully compatible with PS5 made to play more than fighting games the possibilities are more open than ever.

Re: Random: Even Clive from Final Fantasy 16 Is Begging for Bloodborne at 60fps

GymratAmarillo

@Major_Player it's impractical to have issues with one of the companies that is giving capital to keep your studio alive when there is no abuse.

There is no major mystery, everything it's about money. Either Nixxes is working in a full remaster now that they made the jump from porting team to developer team starting with Horizon "as the first of many" or Sony isn't interested in paying for a patch.

That simple patch represents time and money. Doesn't matter if you are asian or from the west you won't do it for free, when developers say "We want" they mean "We want to get paid to do it" specially when you are working in something else already.

Re: Random: Even Clive from Final Fantasy 16 Is Begging for Bloodborne at 60fps

GymratAmarillo

Sorry Clive your mom (SE) broke up with Sony so he isn't daddy anymore and doesn't need to care about what you want.

No but for real. I know people "want" this (the day it happens it won't sell as much as people think because that's the nature of humans) but I can't help but find this situations of very poor taste.

It's like when pc mags have the chance to talk with Miyazaki and instead of talking about his current and future work or about what it's inside FromSoft minds when developing they prefer to ask "WheRe iS BlOoDbOrNe foR PC". If Japanese people weren't designed to be nice he would have said "F*ck off" already.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Is Not Getting DLC, Part 3 the Full Focus

GymratAmarillo

Now the question is if SE is going to pay Sony to end the contract and release this games in other platforms on day 1 or they are focusing in releasing this as soon as possible so they can officially end the relationship and with their games on pc and xbox understand the reality of people not buying millions of FF copies on PC because they are more into turn based rpgs these days.

I have never been that into SE so I understand I'm part of the minority but I want PS to end this toxic relationship and invest in KT all the way lol.

Re: Peerless RPG Baldur's Gate 3 Has More Players Now Than at Launch

GymratAmarillo

This site loves steam numbers right?

Release: 875,343 concurrent players
Last week: 104,134
Today: 71,408

Unless the PS5 playerbase is playing in crazy numbers (and yes obviously there is a chance) the director is talking with a specific metric in mind that isn't sharing with us lol.

Baldur's Gate 3 is an amazing game in every aspect but the intention of this tweet kind of feels like when people talk about Larian as the epitome of an independent studio that doesn't need any big company when Tencent owns 30%. There is no need to play pretend when the game and the work of the devs is legendary enough.

Re: Feature: Why Would Sony Want to Buy Kadokawa?

GymratAmarillo

@MrGawain it was 10 years ago when The Last of Us, the west buying the ps4 and COD saved the whole company japanese divisions included. Give them a break lol.

(It's crazy to thing 11 years ago was 2013 and 5 years ago was the beginning of covid. All feels so recent)

Re: Feature: Why Would Sony Want to Buy Kadokawa?

GymratAmarillo

Because of anime. The president of Sony said it, they are doing great but they need their own anime content. Their investments in Kimetsu no Yaiba have been a gold mine and they have a couple of great original anime (also investment) but neither of the 3 is theirs.

They need anime for Crunchy now that Disney, MAX and Netflix are all in too.

Re: Secret Level Creator Comments on Concord's Awkward Anthology Inclusion

GymratAmarillo

Everything started when that talented group of artists decided to make some of the most ugly game characters 100% on purpose lol. If they weren't able to see that, there is a huge problem there.

And the episode is probably going to be the most popular one. Concord is one if not the biggest failure in PlayStation history so of course everyone interested will watch that episode even if it's only to trash Sony either because how bad it is or because how good.

Re: SEGA Is Bringing Back Its Iconic Virtua Fighter Franchise for PS5

GymratAmarillo

@somnambulance it's funny how you wrote that because it made me remember a comment from this site saying that Persona 3 would be the game that makes the most money from February 2024, the reason was because the low costs of making it vs sales, obviously the user was writing that thinking about FF7R2.

And then Helldivers 2 happened ... lol

Re: Sony Adopting 'Show Don't Tell' Strategy with PS5

GymratAmarillo

This year they released 3 games we didn't know about:
-AstroBot
-Horizon Adventures (next month)
-Until Dawn
Two remaster, one we didn't know about:
-The last of us
-Horizon
The best expansion of Destiny 2:
-The Final Shape
Their ugliest game in years (sorry moralists but Firewalk deserved to be destroyed to the ground):
-Concord
And one of the best sellers of the year that is still selling 9 months and few reviewbooms after:
-Helldivers 2

I'm all in on secrecy. Now I know they can and want to reveal games the same year those games are going to be out. It doesn't matter if it's one or two, that's better than knowing about a game and wait years to play it.

Re: Bungie Provides Lengthy Development Update on PS5 Extraction Shooter, Marathon

GymratAmarillo

Personally the fact that the Director makes so much emphasis in the playtesting process and its expansion in 2025 tells me the game still will take some time and that is good news.

Marathon was supposed to release this year before Bungie collapse so it sounds like Sony isn't rushing it and that is the best they can do with Bungie right now. Absorb as much employees as possible, keep them working in the project, let the development take its time for the best result possible.

Re: Starship Troopers: Extermination Hits Ground Running on PS5, Roadmap Revealed

GymratAmarillo

This game not having a platinum is quite unfortunate. Game looks fun and I love Starship Troopers so I'll get it eventually but what I'm most curious about is how well it sells on xbox. Saw some xbox warriors trying to hype this game to talk trash about Helldivers ... even when Sony is also making money from this game because Starship Troopers media belong to TriStar Pictures lol.

Re: Until Dawn Is One of Sony's Worst Performing PC Ports to Date

GymratAmarillo

Meanwhile in the site to download cracked games it's in number two just after Silent Hill. This game eventually will get a price cut just in time for the release of the movie and will sell another bunch.

Who would have guessed that the worst part of Sony releasing their games on PC wasn't the possible decrease of PS value but the obsession with Steam player count and Reviews.

Makes me value Astro Bot release even more.

Re: Random: Internet Trolls Tried to Downgrade Our Silent Hill 2 PS5 Review Score

GymratAmarillo

I saw this indie dev on twitter that yesterday was like "Can't wait for the mods do this this this and this so I can touch the game. If you don't like it grow up" The dude only made that one post about the game, no one was arguing with him, he was basically fighting in his head LOL.

I will never share the necessity of SOME people to look down the new just because it's different with what they experienced in the past, specially when the new is so well done like this remake but I understand. Their lives never got better than those days so they have to hold to nostalgia as hard as they can.

Re: 'Difficult to Comment' on Astro Bot's Square Enix Snub, Says Team Asobi

GymratAmarillo

If I remember correctly getting Cloud in smash was also a piece of work and the character fells lackluster options wise compared with other cameos in Smash. Square either didn't like the idea of their ips on bot form for Astro or were asking too much money for it.

If this is just because they want to be seen as multiplatform then the suit guys at SE aren't that intelligent, decline money and advertisement when your company is in a low? Ok lol.

Btw hopefully the "days of the Sony and Square Enix love" are over lol. Sony is paying those games to some extent and those games aren't selling the numbers they were expecting. Just let the SE guys pay for their own games, pay for their own marketing and get the ps version whenever all the other versions are out.

Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Triggers Social Media, Ex-Sony Exec Says 'If You Don't Like It, Don't Buy It'

GymratAmarillo

"over Jin Sakai"

The history of Jin is done, that's the whole point of the DLC. That's why "experts" said Ghost of Tsushima as a franchise had a limit, because the history of Jin is complete.

"Made on masculinity" the point of Ghost of Tsushima is the fragility of Jin, aren't those dudes who have a problem with female protagonists the same that think having feelings isn't part of being a man? LOL.

F* those guys. This is a new story with a new protagonist.

Re: Sony Finally Pulling Bungie's 'Heads Out of Their Asses' Was a Good Thing, Says Ex-Lawyer

GymratAmarillo

Did Sony wait too long before getting involved?
We could say yes but we don't know the details like how f*cked the economy of Bungie was before acquisition and how much could Sony actually do. Keeping nearly half the people Bungie had to let go was a very good first decision now that Bungie Independence is gone.

Was Bungie just missing its parent company's guiding, paternal hand?
I choose to believe so lol. I know some people have this idea that Bungie is a bad developer but they are still doing good stuff, the company side of Bungie was the problem.

Sony already lost the money anyway so the only thing left to do is to make money and save Bungie in the process.

Re: PS5's Astro Bot the USA's Second Best-Selling Game in Its First Week

GymratAmarillo

@B0udoir nope. Paw Control videogame is a game for kids. Astro, Horizon Adventures and most Nintendo games are family games. There is a difference.

If we, the people who enjoy these kind of games don't mark the line then we are only giving chances for the regular Joe who wants everything to be ultra realistic to keep looking down at amazing experiences like these just because they are "kid games".

Re: PS5's Astro Bot the USA's Second Best-Selling Game in Its First Week

GymratAmarillo

What these analysts don't talk about because it's not their job obviously is expectations. Sony said it at the beginning of the year don't expect big IPs until at least March of 2025.

Obviously that's how the corporations see things, that doesn't affect people now seeing Astro as a big IP.

The point is, this game was never going to sell 20 millions like Spider man or GOW but the fact is that the game is selling well. It looks like it's going to sell more than Ratchet and that makes it a success on it's own.
