Ragnarok the same, seems slightly better. It had some problems with shimmer. Limited but given I’ve played that game so many times it started to bother me and went with FSR option. Now resolved, it looks clean and no more jumping pixels
Not Helix’ hardware, but the fact it can run Xbox and PC games, should raise a few alarms at Sony HQ. In fact, them coming back on their decision about PC ports, seems like a little panic reaction just on that.
PlayStation fan here, but this is quite a landslide in the industry. If there’s one thing I hate in the console world, it’s the fact there’s no online competition between different stores due to the exclusivity of Ps store on PlayStation and the Microsoft store on Xbox. Apple had to open its ecosystem (at least in the EU) to allow alternative app shops (which they’ve reluctantly done and with moderate success for these platforms) , however for games there’s well established players in the market (like Steam) so opening up on alternative stores is perhaps the biggest evolution on the console since they got online stores themselves! After the “Everything is an Xbox” campaign, they can now come with “Xbox is everything”. Sorry to sound Xbox fan here, but I would just wish that Sony did the same
Given the man’s legacy, I trust Cory to make it great. Ragnarok was fantastic, but at the same time also 2018 revisited to some extent. So, bold and exciting, but with Cory’s quality focus, that’s something I’m looking forward to.
@Th3solution No because while Hermen Hulst is “looking for synergies” by closing studios he allows his former company to develop their own upscaler and not even use PSSR2 🤨
Just because Hermen Hulst is ex-guerrilla doesn’t mean he should give the Dutch studio a better treatment. This is rubbish that should have been part of the decimation of live service initiatives.
I’ve posted this more than 6months ago and got a lot of backlash, but based on their previous releases I expect a suboptimal ps5 release (25fps) and a just bearable 30fps on ps5pro in the final months of the current gen lifecycle. The followed by a 40fps mode on ps6 in the months thereafter and a 60fps mode on ps6pro around 2030. I still hope for a more favorable timeline, but I wouldn’t count on it
It is night and day. I could not stand to play this game before, and now I absolutely enjoy it. 1080p or 30fps are both showstoppers for me. And as mentioned, some won’t even notice, but in my particular setup and for my personal perception it’s the difference between forcing myself to play the game I’ve bought vs actually having a great time.
If Sony continues the direction of Digital Only, it must be forced to allow other digital market places for game vendors to allow price competition. In the EU, Apple has been forced to open up its ecosystem to other app stores and while it’s still preliminary, it’s a must have against the monopoly these digital only companies else have.
I don’t get this. A save file contains a property determining the game’s version it was created under. Hence when having updated the game and trying to load an older version save file, it’s either directly compatible or a conversion/migration process runs on them to make sure they’re working with the new version. I don’t see any reason why such migration algorithm is unable to be built in this particular case except for unwillingness.
Look we all have the same ps5, but we all have different displays, so really I understand that people’s opinion might vary. I like my games to be fun to play, graphics come second. BUT, if you are playing on a relatively large oled screen, anything below 60 feels like a PowerPoint. That’s why I don’t buy any game without 60fps and even then stutters to 40’s, 50’s are incredibly annoying on my display. Again, this might be different for you, but in my setup 60fps is a must!

They should allow more digital storefronts on PS though

Re: PS5 Players Choose Performance Mode 75% of the Time
This greatly depends on the display. On a relatively new large oled display 30fps is simply a slideshow
