I wrote about it here before, Sony stated in their report that in FY2025 they sold 318 millions games in units with ratio 22/78 to digital. 22% of 318 millions makes ~70 millions new discs sold in FY2025

I said 50 millions in 6 years of life cycle and that will be consider a failer in the eyes of investors. 100% you are correct that those casuals are not the one who buy games etc but the hardcore fans of xbox bought only 30+ millions consoles and that is a fail and the ceo of xbox says it needs reset thats how bad that is. Sony I believe have more fans overall thats why I predict 50 millions ps6 sold and that mighy be just not enough

Just to clear it out I remembered it wrong (had to double check it again) and the offical sales was 318 millions with the 22/78 split so that would be 70 millions discs sold in FY2025

Regardles of that the reason I believe ps6 will fail just as xbox series failed is the same reason ps2 succeded and no other playstation console could reach does numbers is the biggest group of people which are "casuals" will skip it. Those are people that do not write comments, dont watch trailers, dont read news and dont even type playstation in they browsers and yet for various resons ps2 catched that people while xbox series with "game pass is all you need" and but is not visible in stores for casuals sold only 35 millions consoles and need a hard reset now. Sony backing of discs will make them dissapear from stores and only hardcores fans will buy it just like only hardcore xbox fans bought xbox series and that is just simply not enough. My predictions for 6 years ps6 anniversary is 50 millions consoles sold max (6 years ps5 is 93 millions)

I dont know how exactly this guy and his company counts those sales but official sony raport for year 2025 says they sold 350m games and split was 22/78 for digital (85% digital happend only in one quarter) so 22% of 350m makes 77m discs sold in 2025
