Re: Wuthering Waves Fanbase in Flames After Dev Makes Some Undies Edits

Also, the idea that someone who likes something sexual in nature is a pervert is 18th century puritanical. I don’t play these games, and i assume most people commenting don’t, but why would you go out of your way to insult someone based on they enjoying these details in their sexy gacha game is beyond me

Re: Wuthering Waves Fanbase in Flames After Dev Makes Some Undies Edits

One day maybe people will realise it’s not about the panties. It’s about changing something that shouldn’t bother anyone.
If it’s removed then it means there is someone out there who went bellow and beyond to find something to complain about and the devs catered to them, instead of preserving something some people valued (the original artist included)

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed Again, Now Out 20th March

@Llamageddon the studio that made PoP has been shut down by Ubisoft. So keeping Ubisoft around in the off chance they publish a good game every 10 years isn't even a good option, since they'll just shut it down it seems.

And don't feel too bad about any livelyhoods, the good developers will find better jobs at different companies. Hopefully to make better games!

The only people crying rn at Ubisoft are the shareholders and board administrators that are pushing these terrible games and shutting down the studios that make the good stuff

Re: Splash Water on Your Favourite Waifus in the New Dead or Alive Game for PS5, PS4

People that actively complain about content that isn't made for them are pretty entitled. There aren't even 2 sides about this - just different opinions coming form the same annoying mindset: "if i don't like it, it shouldn't exist".

This series (Xtreme in particular) has been going on for over 20 years. If the latest instalment is the one that breaks the camel's back for anyone to say they aren't "gamers" so be it. Your fault to make gaming your whole personality.

Regarding the typical "just watch *orn" response, i don't get how constantly preaching that gamers should watch other people having sex on camera instead of enjoying some (very tame) sexy in their games makes anyone but YOU sound like a pervert.

I don't play these games, but i'm glad they exist because i enjoy people enjoying things in a community i've been part of my whole life.
STOP GATEKEEPING what others should enjoy or not.

Re: Metacritic Responds to Ongoing Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review Bombing Campaign

@Flaming_Kaiser i don't know anything about that, but it's an opinion like any other. That's what the user score is trying to do, gauge opinions. It just sounds like you have a different opinion that those people, so why are you wasting time caring about it?
The user score is meaningless information, why does it need coverage everytime people don't like a game the media does?

Re: PS5 Pro's Proprietary Upscaler PSSR Is Looking Very Promising

@ZeroSum yeah we’re way past the point of diminishing returns. This is all cool and dandy, but at 800€ it all seems pointless and shallow.

If we need back to back to back 4x magnify compare shots to make a point, what really is the point anymore? It looks better? Yea it does, but is it in service of better games?

Where are the games?

Re: With Timing Being Everything, French Union Calls on Ubisoft Workers to Strike

Daric

@Kienda it’s not that simple, because actually laying off people would result in better deals for the individuals. Contracts have very generous compensation clauses for the worker that companies that do this are trying to avoid paying.

For clarification, this isn’t about people being lazy. It’s about a company trying to avoid paying contractual compensation by requiring employees to do something they haven’t in half a decade (including Ubisoft’s most profitable era, mind).

The idea that people are somehow trying to scam or being ungrateful to Ubisoft is painfully capitalist in nature. I’m no socialist, but this isn’t america where big corporations own you.

Re: With Timing Being Everything, French Union Calls on Ubisoft Workers to Strike

Daric

@Chupa_loyzer the industry has a high turnover rate, which would mean most of the contracts are post covid, and probably include such terms. The ones that aren’t, employees may still be protected under law, as changes deemed permanent (such as working from home for over 5 years, or simpler ones such as raises) don’t require contract changes to become legally binding in many european countries (France being one of the most protective of employees rights, i assume it has some of those precautions).
I’m no law expert, and I don’t live in France. But i’ve been working from home for a long time, and i’ve seen a lot of these situations. Like another commenter said, it’s 99% sure a way of “justifying” a mass layoff without actually doing a mass layoff (which has damaging legal implications for the company, usually is much more expensive).
Baffles me that people in the comments are siding with the company trying to go over workers’ rights.

Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Sells 2.2 Million Copies for $100

Daric

@tangyzesty usually these editions include the money’s worth in digital currency and items. For people who are planning on playing the “gambling” modes anyway it’s a no brainer to get the deluxe/ultimate pack.
You could argue that those modes are for idiots, but so are most of life’s vices. I’d rather buy a pack of FUT cards than a pack of cigarettes, to each their own

Re: EA Sports FC 25 Kicks Off in September on PS5, PS4

Daric

@breakneck PES hasn’t been a better game since around 2012 at least. It’s not the licenses, lack of licenses didn’t matter when PES 6 was outselling FIFA. The game completely stagnated.
It was literally the same thing for over 10 years, so much so they turned it into a live service.

Re: Preview: EA Sports FC 25 Promises a Different Kind of Rush on PS5, PS4

Daric

@thefourfoldroot1 you mean 14 where pace overpowered every single other stat, crosses had a 50/50 chance of goal and the game bugged at throw ins and you had to wait for the clock to run down? Not fond of going back tbh

There are still issues with the game, as always, but to suggest no improvement has been made in 10 years is ludicrous

Re: Ubisoft Apologises for Using Re-Enactment Group's Flag in Assassin's Creed Shadows Art

Daric

@Korgon it's just that Ubisoft is making a mockery out of japanese culture (which many people in the gaming space appreciate). It's probably unintentional, but still rubs people the wrong way (myself included).

Unlike what the media usually implies, it has little to do with the character's colour (there are several instances of black samurais in anime which are celebrated by anime fans of all races), but rather the way they are handling the characters and the environment in the game.

Some people desperately want to call others "racist" and call it a day, but fortunately these are a minority.
Personally would like for the game to be good, but have little trust in it given what they've shown. It's a far cry from what most people wanted out of an AC game set in Japan
