Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

Straight up waste of money. It feels like some kind of desperation move on Sonys part. Why not try and buy some smaller indie companies like Warhorse and Unknown Worlds. Online shooters are a dime a dozen. Apex call of duty battlefield destiny titanfall and whatever the next hot one will be. So Bungie has had one successful game since halo…. How about a studio like cd project hello Sony.

Re: Poll: Would You Still Buy PlayStation Consoles Without Activision Blizzard Games?

ChadR

I don’t currently play any of Activision’s games so not a big concern for me. if blizzard ever put Warcraft three on sale for like $10 I would probably buy that. I don’t really think that’ll put a dent in 68 billion ha ha. I might buy a Series S or X when Bethesda finally releases Starfield and Elderscrolls 6. I’m curious what Arkane will be releasing. Their new vampire game really doesn’t interest me might be really good though but by the time the bugs are worked out will be 2-3 years from now. PS5 Will be my primary gaming machine though. Dualsense is so superior to the Xbox controller its not even close.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

This is not as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be except that Microsoft just blew an unimaginable amount of money on this. How many first person shooter games are there out there? A lot. Call of Duty, whatever I haven’t played that since it first came out. World of Warcraft, really people still play that? My favorite games on my PS5 are all from smaller developers and I sure hope Microsoft doesn’t buy them lol! One thing to understand is Microsoft is purchasing the rights to the studios current games and future games but they don’t own the developers, the developers can quit start their own studios or go to work for someone else.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Sonys focus on woke games is a serious issue for them though. Potentially driving away 50% of the market on those games even though their hardware is superior. I won’t be purchasing their lineup of games that push a political agenda. Best case scenario would be Microsoft deciding that we can play their new games on PS5. Honestly for me Arkane and Bethesda will be missed. But we will see if either of those studios can actually put out a quality game in the next couple of years.

Most of you are looking at this as some smart move on Microsofts part to corner of the gaming industry. Everyone should research how much money Microsoft has on hand how much debt and then how much they just spent on this. This is an absolute ignorant purchase. Another poster mentioned the number of game pass subscription and how much money Microsoft supposedly is bringing in on those. What they failed to understand is that Microsoft has to pay for all the games on game pass not just the new acquisition. They still have to make back the 7 billion for Zenimax. Also the subscription numbers are smoke and mirrors. How many people are on a free or an inexpensive trial or have converted gold to game pass. Microsoft is not bringing in anywhere near what does numbers say they are. How many of you actually have game pass? For me it’s a ho-hum experience. Cool to demo some games I would never have bought. But I don’t pay a monthly subscription either I’m on a trial and will be canceling. I just wait for games to go on sale before I buy them. And there’s no comparison between the PS5 and Xbox. PS5 hands-down is the better console. You can talk about gigaflops and teraflops and whatever but the fact is PS5 is a better experience. An friend of mine got an Xbox Series S. He was letting me check it out and wanted to know if I wanted to play some games on it. Honestly all I wanted to do was put my Dualsense back in my hands. The Xbox controller felt cheap to me. Haptics are the real deal, I never was into rumble but after leaving it on for a while it definitely enhances the experience. The LEDs on the Dualsense and the PS5 are cool. Yes not anything that affects gameplay but it affects your experience. The touchpad and the gyro may not be used for anything but it sure is neat when you’re demoing it in Astrobot. PSVR2 is going to be super cool even though I won’t be buying into it. My point is that Sony created a next generation experience and Microsoft just created a PC with a controller again. I hope Sonydoesn’t get scared and flail about like Microsoft is. They just need to stick to what they’re doing and really work with the developers to utilize the next gen features on the console. Maybe buy some of the smaller but really good indie developers. For the amount of money Microsoft just spent they could’ve started 50 game studios. Microsoft should’ve spent that money on a better controller for the Xbox. My PC runs a unactivated version of windows 11. Another piece of crap software from Microsoft. No way will I be purchasing Windows. Anyways, no reason to get your panties in a bunch if your a Sony fan boy like I guess I sort of am. Microsoft can flush as much money as they want down the drain and see how much they get back on it. They probably should’ve just invested that money in the stock market.

Microsoft’s recent acquisitions feel desperate. The amount of money spent on the Activision acquisition is mind boggling. 68.7 billion is 68,700 million. That amount of money for COD and WOW is stupid. WOW is in its twilight years. COD is just another online shooter among many. Gamepass is “neat” but not going to make $68 billion anytime soon. This really feels like Microsoft flailing wildly about in a desperate attempt to corner gaming. Joke is on them though as I don’t play any Activision games and a lot of gamers don’t. Even if you do there are other similar games. How much did they pay for Warcraft remastered? Absolute insanity.
