@PuppetMaster MotW was always more of a niche fighter, so including a popular character from a more popular franchise in the sequel sure seems like a cash grab to me. The game itself isn't free, after all. "Hey SF fans, you probably weren't going to buy our game, but now you can play as Ken/Chun Li in our game too! Why not buy it?" I enjoy a good crossover/VS title, but keep guests out of mainline entries. I'll stick with the old SNK games I already have as I have no interest in supporting this version of the company.
I have no issue with games conceived as crossover titles and enjoy them, but in mainline titles the concept of guest characters is nothing but a pandering cash grab and totally turns me off of a game. Every game has Ryu, Ken, Chun Li or Terry in it. It's tiresome. These fighting franchises have such rich character histories, it's a shame they ignore legacy characters and make every game a homogeneous joke. Sadly, as an SNK fan since the early 90s I will continue to not support this company due to their current ownership and their questionable business decisions.
I have no issue with fighting games that are conceived of as crossover titles from the get-go. Go nuts with the roster. But I absolutely loathe the concept of guest characters in what are otherwise "in-universe" mainline fighters. And these particular guest characters are mind-bogglingly stupid. Who wants this? SNK just keep making it easier to not support them.
Killzone, Resistance, and bring back WARHAWK and its amazing soundtrack! MP-only games are so common nowawadays, not so much when Warhawk came out. I want my arcadey dogfights!
The animation looks great but the overall tone doesn't strike me as DMC. It makes no sense to me that they cast JYB as Dante, when he already plays Nero in the DMC universe. He's great as Nero, but the voice doesn't fit Dante. Of course, I say this as a DMC1 and Drew Coombs fan who misses the stylish gothic atmosphere of the first game. Give me the castles, the creepy music, the dark souls filled with LIIIIIGHT!
My friends and I have been playing this since shortly after release. This review hits all of the same points my crew and I have discussed as we've been playing and forming our opinions. The mindless gameplay becomes repetitive very quickly, the weapons you select make very little difference and the abilities are mostly boring. The character designs aren't unique enough either. We all agreed that we won't be sticking with this game for long. The ONLY reason we're getting any enjoyment out of TFD is because it's something we can play together as a group.
We couldn't help but compare TFD to another free to play game - Spacelords, which for us was a lot more fun and engaging. It had memorable characters with very clearly delineated roles and abilities, unique and interesting weapons that served specific purposes, a smart "rock, paper, scissors" approach to melee combat, and required actual teamwork and communication to accomplish objectives beyond just "shoot all the things as fast as possible."
I have fond memories of playing the old games with my brothers, but this generic KOF knockoff mobile game art style is really not doing it for me, especially considering the outstanding visuals ASW has created in their other games.
This looks so cool. And it's awesome that it looks "very PS2." Love the exaggerated characters, and the animations look fun and expressive. Didn't have an Xbox so I hadn't heard of this before, but as an action game fan, I will definitely be checking it out.
I'm a big fan of this style of game, but the character designs here are incredibly bland. They don't give great superhero vibes, and considering the name of the game, there was a complete absence of capes in this trailer. My XCOM squad looked more like a superhero team than the characters here. Hopefully characters will have customizable looks.
Dino Crisis deserves that top spot for sure. Between the copious amounts of dinosaur assets created for Exoprimal which could be leveraged for a new DC game, and the character that looks suspiciously like Regina, I'd be shocked (and quite let down) if Capcom didn't make a new one.
@bpomber @get2sammyb Maybe the challenge campaigns are somehow tied to your play history or trophies. A friend of mine (also in the US) doesn't have the "PS VR BRB" challenge, but he doesn't have the VR headset, whereas I do. Maybe the PS3 challenge is for people who have a lot of PS3 trophies. Just spitballing here.
@Titntin @get2sammyb Thanks! Just realized I have a second challenge that isn't listed above. It's called "PlayStation and You: PS3." The challenge is to "Play any game on PS4 or PS5. Doesn't have to be vintage!" The reward is a PS3 console Heroic collectible. I'm a US user, so maybe that makes a difference.
I got a challenge that isn't included in the guide. It's called "PS VR BRB" and it awards 50 points for playing any one of six specific PSVR games. (Astrobot Rescue Mission, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, Wipeout Omega Collection, RE7, Until You Fall, and The Persistence) Completed it by playing Astrobot. I haven't seen anyone else mention this challenge online.

The randomized Survival mode in Streets of Rage 4 is very addictive and fun.

Woohoo, PS4 version! Great news. I love that they were able to retain Chris Bourassa's signature art style in the transition to 3D.
