Konami put the Suikoden series for PS3 on sale. Suikoden 1 is $1.79, while 2 3 and 4 are only $2.99 each. Fantastic bargain. I started playing 3 last week and just beat the main story mode with all 108 stars. About to start Suikoden IV
@get2sammyb I'm surprised to read you say that, but I agree, the $14.99 price point for all the titles (except Twisted Metal Black and War of the Monsters which are 9.99) seems a little bit high, but it's comparable to what Nintendo charges ($19.99) for their Wii games on Wii U eshop.
Wow, never played Rogue Galaxy but it looks awesome. Dark Cloud didn't look as good (just because the original models were pretty basic) but I'm not sure what the actual gameplay looks like, might be more interesting than the cut scene they showed.
I liked the story of the first one, and the "Through the Looking Glass" nature of the fantasy world being related to the real world. It doesn't look like the story of this one has the same aspect, but that's okay. The idea of "building a Kingdom" within the world of Ni no Kuni sounds promising. The graphics of the trailer look good, but it's not clear that all the stuff is rendered in-game. The building at the end with the giant monster attack it, that looks rendered. Everything else — are we falsely assuming it's somehow reflective of actual gameplay? Isn't it just the anime cut scene stuff?
This review was good for me, not really familiar with the game already. I'll definitely check it out eventually. I like games that blur the lines of genres, at least in theory.
@kyleforrester87 Thanks for the info! I can see the reasoning now. At first glance, I thought the PC version looked WAY better, so I'm sure it will make a big difference on any big HDTV.
Seems to soon to expect any serious discount on Fallout 4, but it would be a smart move to help sell some more copies. I'm definitely interested in this, but I only own a PS3 currently (and a PSP); I'm kind of an obsoletist
I'm confused as to how this is different from the PSOne Classic I already have downloaded (other than the trophies): Is this PC port better looking? Is the PSOne Classic not available for PS4?
I wouldn't find this surprising at all. Sony PS4 is the console to have for the future (PS3/Wii U still pretty good for current/last gen) and this value proposition is pretty enticing. I'm even glad that they're still trying to sell the Vita, though I'm not sure who's buying the Aqua model who didn't already have a Vita.
@rjejr Did they have a good price on the iWatch or something? I can't imagine any sort of gimmick tech wrist watch selling well anywhere, but maybe I'm out of touch. I hear Apple is popular.
This looks very interesting as a budget PSN title ($20 or $25 at most on release) but it doesn't look like there's enough there for a typical full retail game. Still it looks really nice, and has some potential. I generally like unconventional game ideas. I don't know that I've played a true straight up survival game, but I find zombie survivor games pretty uncompelling.
Recently bought Suikoden III, Persona 3 and 4, SMT: Nocturne as PS2 Classics on PS3. Those are pretty good value at 9.99 digital. I probably wouldn't buy a PS4 until there's more ability to transfer those, plus PSN and PS1 games to it. My crappy broken PSP can play the PS1 games, so I think they can figure it out!
On the one hand, respect to the company and Sony for taking such a bold step to rectify the situation. On the other, the game should probably not have been released yet if it was that bad.
I'm a Nintendo fan, but even I think the PS2 is the best console, simply because it has many of my favorite games of all time. I'm currently playing SMT: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga after finishing Persona 4, I will probably get Devil Summoner at some point too. It's nice that I can buy PS2 Classics for a pretty reasonable price. Nintendo has been pretty horrible at drip feeding us their virtual console releases without ever discounting them. Sony's store is much better in that regard.
After contemplating someday getting a PS Plus subscription (at the recommendation of my good friend from whom I bought my current PS3) I'm thinking it's not really worth it from reading a lot of these comments. And it seems like it's only really really worth it if you have a PS4 and a Vita. The main appeal for me is the discount on games I'm interested in, rather than receiving free games. But I think it's a pretty cool program, I'm not really in the habit of paying monthly subscription fees for video game related things, but it seems like a decent value overall.
Well, I'm downloading PS2 Classics over here on my Playstation 3, 10 bucks for digital copies of hard to find penultimate gen JRPGs?!? Sometimes cheaper?! Sony wins! The biggest hurdle now (for Sony, from my consumer perspective) is that my PS3 plays most of the non-Nintendo current gen games I care about at the moment. (And on handheld, I have 3DS and PSP, no Vita, even though I think it's cool and totally would get one if I had more of a reason). So the best strategy for continued dominance for Sony is to continue creating new PS4 exclusive stuff. I hope that doesn't mean less "cross"support for PS3 in the future but that's pretty much inevitable. And they should abandon Vita.... RIP Vita, you will someday be bought at a Goodwill store.
I got through Tales of Xillia by relying on "Palm Strike". You could spam it on most enemies because it had a chance to stun and you could do it quickly multiple times. You could also mix in some normal attacks to save on SP, knock the enemy down to recover your AC and repeat.
I've been checking the Sony blog, I assume that's the place to get the details once they're announced. I'm not really interested in survival games at all, so I'm hoping there's some decent discounts on JRPGs and PS2 classics. Usually these flash sales pique my interest in new games I've never heard of, so hey maybe there's hope.
Nice review, I think you covered a lot of the finer details that are relevant to potential consumers. I literally just finished Tales of Xillia after buying it for 6 dollars on the last flash sale (or the one before, I can't remember) and I absolutely loved it, and immediately regretted not buying Xillia 2 at the same time. I'll probably wait for a discount on this one (since I'm a PS3 owner, not PS4, and DQH looks more fun to me anyway) but it's nice to know it will be there at some point down the line. I may just buy the Tales of Symphonia collection to tide me over.

This looks fun, reminds me of the excellent Fantasy Life with more of a multiplayer focus.

This game actually looks like it could be great, so I'm fine with the extra wait. https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2015/11/wow_star_ocean_5_has_come_a_long_way_in_just_a_few_months_on_ps4

I'm glad to hear there releasing it on PS3 as well, I was afraid I would literally have to buy a PS4 just to play THIS game.
