Wow, this is quite the rarity. Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma launched on PlayStation 4 last month, and it was met with super low review scores and the pure scorn of many fans. The game was plagued by bugs both big and small, a horrible frame rate, and some craptastic gameplay - and now, it's being removed from the PlayStation Store.
"It's been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we're returning all the money," general manager of developer Versus Evil told CGMagazine. In other words, if you bought the game only to discover that it's a massive pile of sh*te, you're eligible for a refund. It's still unclear how this refunding process will work, but we assume more details will show up in the near future.
Needless to say, the second and third volumes of this planned episodic series have been cancelled, and the studio has issued a full apology, deeming the release "a failure". No wonder we never got sent review code, eh?

Didn't buy it but well done Versus Evil. Now we just need to wait for Bethesda to refund people for their bugs and rubbish frame rates.
(Joking... I'm loving Fallout)
@Mergatro1d I knew this comment was coming, just KNEW it.
@ShogunRok ha! Didn't take long, did it!?
I didn't even know there was a Afro Samurai 2 game. lol
This is embarrassing to say the least. They had to of known the product they were releasing was not something they were happy with, and was rushed. It seems as if they had hoped any diehard fan of the series would look past all of the bugs, glitches and underwhelming gameplay mechanics. Worst launch since DriveClub(to be fair i know both are completely different games and situations).
Should I demand a refund of "Wander" then? Metacritic score: 28.
Didn't know it existed. Guess that speaks for itself.
It should be a feature on the PlayStation store "an automated, no questions asked refund system" after all it is a basic consumer right. If Steam has managed to do it then so should Sony.
On the other hand, the anime is superb. I don't even like anime but Afro Samurai is a beast!
Huh well nicer than most companies that release broken games.
That's pretty neat that they're having integrity in the matter. This should at an example.
@adf86 yea android platform has this perfectly implemented. Better yet, release more demos!
On the one hand, respect to the company and Sony for taking such a bold step to rectify the situation. On the other, the game should probably not have been released yet if it was that bad.
Refunds are good but they should have never released a game that was not fit for market. They must have known about the issues before did they just think that nobody would notice. Reputation is everything for companies so I have no idea why they let the game get released in the state it was in.
Can you sue them for making a terrible product? I never bought it, but I'd be really pissed if I had.
The PS store needs curation, there is a woeful amount of pure drivel up there, time to clean it out and only allow quality games on it.
Good decision, I hope Nintendo and Microsoft do the same with the awful games available on their systems (I mean a few of them!) Don't read me wrong.
First of all, didn't know it came out...second of all, if people return it, then whoever held onto it would be the lucky ones. Imagine having this for several years and then selling it later on...you know the price would be outrageous and that person could do more than just triple the money cost...especially since now it would be known as a rare game.
