Conflicting reports on the status of the leaked Venom game from Insomniac have hit the Internet overnight.
Speaking on a podcast, Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter from the Marvel's Spider-Man titles said a "Venom game" and a "Venom DLC" were in the works, but then insinuates they were cancelled due to the passing of Venom voice actor Tony Todd. Jeter continued: "They showed me how it was gonna start, they showed me how everything was gonna be — it was gonna be a Venom video game."
The twist in the story then came just over an hour later, from Bloomberg scribe Jason Schreier. "This isn't true," he rather simply said on the ResetEra forum.
At the time of writing, there hasn't been any follow-up from Schreier, so it's unclear what he means: is it untrue the game has been cancelled and is still in development, or is the reason behind the cancellation untrue and something different?
Word of a Venom spin-off PS5 game got out via the Insomniac hack in December 2023, which leaked other unrevealed projects. The last time there was any mention of the title came more recently in September 2025, when an outlet made claims it's still in development but in the early stages.
For now, all we have officially on Insomniac's docket is Marvel's Wolverine, launching for PS5 on 15th September 2026.
Should any further comments or clarification on the status of the Venom PS5 project come to light, we'll update this article. In the meantime, are you still interested in the idea of a Venom spin-off title? Tell us in the comments below.
