MGS4 Assassin's Creed

The port of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to current-gen consoles raises a number of questions surrounding some of the more unique content in the game. It directly references the PS3 system, the Apple iPod is a named product, and crossover content lets Old Snake dress up as Altair from the original Assassin's Creed.

As part of the new deal between Konami and Ubisoft that sees Solid Snake star in the new Rainbow Six: Siege seasonal update, we now know the latter will return.

A new interview with Game Spark touches on the collaboration between the two companies, with creative producer Yuji Korekado confirming the "collaborative elements" from both Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be in Master Collection Vol. 2.

In the PS3 original, you unlocked a costume based on Altair's outfit by earning the Assassin emblem at the end of the game. This was achieved by beating the title with over 50 knife kills, more than 50 CQC holds, and triggering the alert phase less than 25 times.

Elsewhere, it's confirmed the Metal Gear Online portion of Guns of the Patriots won't be returning for the new PS5 version — it's just the single player. However, the co-op and online versus modes in Peace Walker will be part of the package.

Volume 2 of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection launches for PS5 on 26th August 2026. Will you be returning to the two stealth classics during the summer months? Let us know in the comments below.
