Metal Gear Solid 4 PS5 Platinum Trophy

You have done very well for yourself if your PSN account has a Platinum Trophy in any Metal Gear Solid game tied to it; these lists are notoriously difficult and usually demand multiple playthroughs.

The emblem system plays a large part in this, which grants you titles based on the type of playthrough you have just accomplished in an entry. The Big Boss emblem in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the hardest of the lot in that game, and with confirmation the Trophy list in the upcoming Master Collection Vol. 2 is mostly the same as the PS3 version, it means you'll have to earn it all over again.

To get a Platinum Trophy in Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS5, you'll need to unlock all the other Trophies, and at some point, do the following, as per PSNProfiles:

  • Beat the game on Boss Extreme (the hardest difficulty)
  • No deaths
  • No alerts triggered
  • No kills
  • No recovery items used
  • No stealth suit used
  • No bandana used
  • Complete the playthrough in under five hours

Yeah, good luck with that one — I'll leave that Platinum Trophy to the most hardcore of the hardcore.

True Trophies has the full list for both Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, with both ported games having the same Trophy lists as their original versions. Each one has the same, single addition though: you have to read every page of their screenplays, which are bonuses included with Master Collection Vol. 2.

This is going to be a tall order, overall. Check PSNProfiles for Metal Gear Solid 4's Trophy Guide, and you'll find the game handed an 8/10 difficulty rating for unlocking the Platinum Trophy and the recommendation to spread the challenge across eight playthroughs.

Because of the way Peace Walker is structured, you theoretically only need one playthrough to get its Platinum Trophy, but PSNProfiles again suggests 70 hours of playtime to unlock it.
