Exactly two years ago, God of War launched and quickly became one of the PlayStation 4's very best exclusive games. It is held in just as high a regard to this day, even topping our list of the Best PS4 Exclusive Games. We won't be forgetting about Kratos and Atreus' rebooted journey for a very long time, and it's clear that the team at Sony Santa Monica won't either. In fact, the developer has put together a small celebration to mark the occasion, including new merchandise that everyone at Push Square wants to get their hands on.
Detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Sony is teaming up with Dark Horse to bring Atreus' journal to life. It "chronicles the journey of Atreus and Kratos through the Nine Realms. It includes expanded lore, detailed bestiary, character dossiers and so much more." A price hasn't been announced just yet, but you will be able to pre-order the book through this link. In the meantime, have a good look at what it looks like in the image below.
Alongside that is something rather special. Gaming Heads has designed and manufactured a life-size bust of Kratos -- beard and all. It's a whopping 25 inches tall, bringing together game files and intricate paint strokes to make the creation look lifelike. There are only 500 of them available, so head on over to the Gaming Heads website immediately to get your pre-order in. It does cost $799.99, however.
Jeff Ketcham, producer at Sony Santa Monica, signs off by saying: "Thank you again for being the best fans ever! You continue to be at the heart of everything we do here at Santa Monica Studio. Until next time, stay safe and remember to enjoy the journey." YouTuber GBG is proof of that wonderful community, who just beat God of War's hardest boss without any upgrades and posted it online. SPOILER WARNING!!!!
I will never forget that feeling when kratos went back to his home to get the blades of chaos. The moment he opened the cloth and revealed it I squeal like a little kid as I never expect to see it again. One of the best games I ever played during the ps4 generation. Hope the sequel can maintain or surpass it.
I love lore. I ordered the book in February. The bust I can live without. It looks cool, but I don't have the space anymore.
@Leon_93 That was a magical moment, I felt the same.
No money left after ordering that Kasumi figurine, will have to wait to get this one or won’t get it at all xd
I honestly liked this game more than I supposed, I would gladly read some lore stuff! P.s. That image would rock as a wallpaper.
@Leon_93 You see, as much as I recongized that the new God of War is an incredible game, I just can't shake the feeling that it is overrated.
If it had been a new franchise, it would have ranked a lot higher in my personal game classment, but I just couldn't play withouth constantly thinking "this is absolutely not the Kratos I know" and "Isn't that Teal'c from Stargate?". The complete dissonance between the previous games and this one is too much for me to enjoy it fully.
And the lack of diversity in the boss fight of course, that's something where they can do a lot better next time. And the story that is as barebone as you could get. And the kid that can get very annotng at times... you see, here I go again, I really think it's overrated!
Well this the best GOW to me cause it took the Naughty Dog approach. This, HZD and Uncharted 4 share the Number 1 spot for me, you can't say one is better than the other. I always find it an insult when HZD especially is numbered behind GOW.
Life-size bust. Tifa?
Pft, a life-size Kratos bust? Give me a life size Jörmungandr and we'll talk.
The g.o.a.t 👑 king kratos .n.i.c.e.word up son
Overrated. Look at game of the decade lists and see how many times God of War makes the top five.
Let me just find that £800 I have down the back of my sofa I won't be a minute.......... So seriously it's there........... WT?........ It was there I swear?
Conscience kicks in.... "You never had it"
For me, it was a very average game. Technically excellent, sure, but pretty bland otherwise.
But then I never played the earlier games, so had no attachment to the character. Plus, Atreus was irritating, and the constant "Boy!" became equal parts annoying and comical. And as much as I like Christopher Judge, his voice work for this seemed a bit wooden; perhaps that was how he was asked to play it, though.
I received it as a gift and finished the story just before Days Gone released. I haven't been back to it since, but should do at some point to try and mop up the remaining trophies.
2 years old already?!?! I seriously need to play through this again, possibly on NG+
Best of the generation for me, wonderful experience and I'm so looking forward to the sequel!!
@nookie_egg you'd need two planets to fit that thing.
@Callmegil worth it
I love God of War games but this is crazy. No way for I to buy this for 800 dollars. Collection, I know but for what ? Theirs profit and what I got? A piece of junk statue at home as collector's item for future value ? Yeah right! Nah!
