Taking on the hardest optional boss in God of War is tough. Beating Sigrun, the final Valkyrie, demands concentration, know-how, and patience even when you've got Kratos kitted out with all of his endgame upgrades -- but what if you had to fight her with no upgrades whatsoever?
That's what YouTuber GBG did -- and he actually won. Four hours and 35 minutes into the above video, GBG goes toe-to-toe with Sigrun after multiple failed attempts and finally puts her down. The fight lasts almost 20 minutes, with Kratos' attacks barely dealing any damage. In stark contrast, a single hit is enough to end GBG's run.
Quite frankly, it's an insane battle. The dodging and weaving that GBG displays is pretty mind-blowing at times, and the fight makes for a real spectacle. You can practically feel the pressure building as Sigrun's health starts to run low.
Amazing stuff.

nothing special! would have been impressed if he beat her qith a guitar hero playing blind and one hand behind his back
Anyone want to watch me play video games for 5 hours? I do the most incredible things. No? Well I wouldn't watch you either. Back in the day I would either go home and play on my own console or punched you and taken the controller long before I sat and watched you for 5 hours.
@Powerpellet OK boomer.
The bosses/enemies are telegraphed to the point where this really isn't anything special. Just a war of attrition. I love GoW but if you're familiar with the game you know this isn't that difficult. Its no worse than a buster only Mega Man run. I don't see how this is newsworthy. Just because something takes longer than usual doesn't mean it is something incredible. I'm sure this isn't the only level 1/ no damage run out there. I love PushSquare but for the past few months the articles here are usually one facepalm after another. Can we please get some actual quality articles again?
I definitely cannot do it but it is not that impressive compare to other runs or challenges
@TheFatPonyo can u do it?
Apart from all they negative comments like why.... And owww look at that boring
Hats off to him because back in my day you used to read about these challenges in games mags and then YouTube made it possible to watch speed runs, normal weapon boss fights etc. I know most of us are locked up in our own homes but for god's sake lighten the hell up
@Enuo @DonJorginho Boomer? Jeez guys, if you're going to use an insult at least use one correctly. You just make yourselves look stupid and sound like a couple of snowflakes. A baby boomer would be someone in their 70s. Boomers were the children born in the aftermath of the second world war.
Okay, so this player is the real literal God of War given those god-like skills.
Fair play, the dude shows some impressive skills. The super slowly chipping away at health bars doesn't make for the most entertaining spectacle for me though. Would like to see him do, let's say, a no box run on Resident Evil 3 on Inferno difficulty. That would be much more exciting for me to watch.
@Powerpellet ok boomer
Not saying it aint impressive, but people have already done this before him.
That reminds me, i really hope they add re-skin option into the God Of War.You know similar to what we had in Spiderman and Odyssey, where you keep your outfit equiped but with the visuals of completely different outfit.
The main reason, why i did GMGOW with starting armor aka Exile armor set (besides the challenge) was to play with that armor for the entire game.
Can we lay off each other please. Let's stick to the topic at hand, remember that all opinions are valid, and be nice to each other. Thank you!
Kind of a slow burn fight, which is obvious, since he deals very little damage, but the skills are impressive. I didn't find the fight with her all that difficult when I did it, but then again, I waited to do it until the very end, when Kratos was upgraded as best as he could be I don't think I would even last a second against her with no upgrades
when you only play one game, and have all the time in the world, then anything is possible.
A.m.a.z.i.n.g. w.o.r.d. u.p. s.o.n.
I had a couple of attempts at standard Valkyries but didn't last long!
This was on Normal mode when I had some pretty good upgrades. I always have too many games to play that after a while I'm itching to start another one. I plan on replaying God of War and when I do I'm going to take on all of the Valkyrie.
Be afraid ladies, be very afraid.
😉
Wonderful game!
Could be the Game of the Generation maybe.
By the way, for the uninitiated, I believe 'OK Boomer' is the current dismissive response from a younger generation to an older one.
Used to be 'Whatever!" when I was young but things change.
"VALHALLAAAAAA!!!" After sussing out the my first Valk (which took ages, I used to see them and run the other way), I beat all the others first attempt, with the exception of Sigrun. Every move is telegraphed, once you get the timing right its not too hard. Very rewarding and satisfying when you beat her.
What's up with all the toxicity in here lately? If you don't like it, move on with your day. Some serious pro gamers in here lol.
@TheFatPonyo I would also like to see your attempt at this.
Obviously, this person spent time hours and hours and practice and practice a lot on this game. I am not going to say wow. This person waste his life doing it for what ? Crazy. I played video games few hours a day or every other time. Depends. I am enjoying my life more like outgoing, nature, and many more.
This boss was so annoying, even with everything fully upgraded with the best armor in the game.
Props to this fellow for beating a tough boss with nothing but a basic axe and Kratos' own fists of basicness.
Damn, I beat her on my first try while fully upgraded and thought that to be a feat. That’s some wicked skills.
I just got off the phone to Kratos. He's just read this comments section. He's not chuffed
Can't believe some of these comments. Just thought we'd post a cool story about a guy who's clearly very good at a video game (something we can surely all agree on) and yet some of the negativity in this comments section is crazy.
I know we might all be a bit on edge with the virus, locked up in our homes and whatnot, but come on. Let's be nice.
I'm surprised you didn't give GBG a bit more of a write-up to be fair. This isn't the first of his stellar achievements with this game. His channel on YouTube was the first to highlight the advanced combat and game breaking workarounds he discovered in the games combat system. Even Corey Barlog has reached out to him on Twitter to congratulate him on the insanity of his gameplay and the combos he's come up with. He's a truly remarkable player.
I think the moment when he finally beats Sigrun and just pauses the game is a moment all true hardcore gamers have felt when finally climbing to the top of the mountain.
I think anybody who sits there there and says what he achieved here is easy needs to take a look at themselves.
Bravo GBG. The real Kratos 👑
Enjoy this video he made to celebrate 6000+ hours of God of War. Remarkable gameplay and a really humble young man too.

Easy peasy lemon squeeze!
@ShogunRok Totally with you on this. I just had to ignore the salty babies. The story was cool and I enjoyed this video after been having an awful hard time myself with the Valkyries. Keep it up!
Jeez what’s with all the toxic discourse?
Well Done that man! Reminds me I need to jump back in and go for the platinum, think I had beaten 3 Valkyries before I started Playing something else. I didn't really care for extra content before. It was just see credits and move on, but now I enjoy going for platinum trophies!

@thefirst I managed to beat the game on hard, but had to move to normal for half the valkyrie. Just didn't have the time or patience, when I wanted to progress with the game.
That said, I picked it up again in the sale and am looking forward to sticking to hard on ng+ and giving it my all against these feisty wenches
Bah, I barely beat this damn thing on easy mode. Ridiculous skills but damn, I needed to skip to the end!
@Powerpellet Ok Boomer.
@Nepp67
You sound stupid
@Powerpellet Funny you say that cause you do as well.
